Common Questions and Answers about Mri scan nhs

mri-scan

Avatar n tn Hi guys I wanted to know if anyone knows where to get a private head MRI scan done in the Birmingham region. I've been suffering from this head related illness for almost 2 years and the doctor thinks it's depression which I disagree because the only thing that gets me depressed is the problem itself I'm suffering from.
Avatar f tn Hi Thicked I had 2nd MRI scan last Feb.18 this is the result & my Doctor of Acute Gynaecology write a letter to my GP for request to sent me to endometriosis specialist to UCLH now I am waiting for appointment..
Avatar f tn thanks for your response im currently going private as the nhs havent been of much help to me. ive just sent my scan pics to a radiologist in london so fingers crossed they will offer me some advice. i dont know where else to turn.
865683 tn?1240947458 he said that the nhs were unfair to discharge me with just painkilers just because my mri scan came back ok..he thinks i my have a prob with a disk in my back that is afecting the nerves.,this wunt always show up on a mri scan..he thinks it cud be a leak or spit..his plan is to help me with my mobility and to stop me limping put then to refeer me to my gp so that he can then refeer me to a special spine doc at a differant hospital..
Avatar m tn Im still waiting as to when i can get to see a neurologist and my mri scan. I was told this could be about 2 months or so as it is under the NHS in the UK. I hope they hurry up as i am desperate to know what may have caused these symptoms to arise. Im hoping tommorow all goes well. The GP said usually if there is any problems with my eyes the optician can spot this through certain tests.
488264 tn?1226520307 The doctor who ordered the scan never mentioned this and I am not due to see them until after the scan. So my question is whether an MRI of the hips can show whether the cauda equina nerves are damaged or can it not view them? I am in severe pain in the pelvic, back and leg area. My doctor wanted to give me a steroid injection to relieve bursitis, but wanted to assess the MRI first. I am not entirely clear what they are looking for.
1386559 tn?1279618656 hey i am 17 years old and ive had back pain for 3 years now, after going through the NHS or chiropractors and many physio's one of them finally ordered a MRI after an X-ray showed nothing, it showed i had 3 slipped discs and one is pinching a root nerve. im in the process of seing a back surgeon to see which surgeory is the best for me.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know how this will come in the post? Will it say it's just from the NHS on the envelope as I don't want my mum to guess from the front.
Avatar f tn My doctor has now referred me to a rheumatologist as it is only them who can decide if I need an MRI scan because I insisted to my doctor that I must have an MRI scan to get to the bottom of all this. Arnica gel seems to help, in the meantime I will keep you informed, but greatly appreciate your views on this latest development, thanks, Jojo.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply - it means alot. An NHS Gynae is just a Consultant Gynaecologist. I just meant it was NHS waiting list that I am currently working with, THanks for your explanation regarding the mass/tumour thing. I suppose I do have to wait until I speak to an expect but hearing about others experiences do make things easier.
Avatar f tn Go see a doc and get an mri scan. I am 24 and have had a headache for the last 8 + years and was finally diagnosed as tp having chiari malformation after years of being told anxiety.... Always push docs when u feel something isn't right.. they always try to pull the anxiety/depression card which may indeed be the case for most. But there is always the chance its not... I thought i had a brain tumor also lol... Alot of ppl do but don't worry. U won't have one..
Avatar f tn If you go to see a private neurologist, they will want a copy of your MRI anyway. Why not, as a first step, get your MRI CD which shows all the images, plus you should get a copy of the report as well. Reading through the report a few times might help you decide on a direction. I've learned that keeping a copy of EVERYTHING is really important, whether you go private or public. I actually was less than confident in an MRI I had, and got a second opinion online from a radiologist.
Avatar f tn I am now waiting for my results from my mri scan and feel like its taking forever even though its only been a week. Can't stop thinking about it. Does anyone know roughly how long it will take to get the results in the uk?
Avatar n tn So my anatomy scan is tomorrow im 20w2d im so nervous for everything im just hoping everything is good wid my baby an hoping they will tell me the gender im still crossing my fingers for tht girl :) hope yu all happy pregnancys!
Avatar m tn 1 week later I go to the orthopedic department and the Doctor tells me its not a fracture and just some ligament tear. So I had an MRI scan done and I never got the results back. They kept on delaying the appointment, 4 months I believe and I ended up forgetting the actual date of the appointment. So they discharged me and 12 months later (FEB 2016) i felt confident enough to start playing sports again.
Avatar n tn You need a CT or MRI scan done soon so they can find the cause of the problems, waiting will make it harder to determine what was the cause because the brain will reabsorb the blood if it was a bleed and if a clot the scar spot will become smaller. Is she being treated with aspirin or Warfarin? Three weeks is too long to wait especially if that appt. might finally request a scan delaying it even longer. You need to find out the cause so appropriate action can be taken to prevent another stroke.
317217 tn?1456286778 Can you believe it? I'm what 14 weeks pregnant and still i havent been seen by a midwife. Damn NHS. Your meant to have a scan by 14 weeks. Sorry im getting really fustrated, my doctors aren't any use. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
1536705 tn?1324329047 you cant book your own midwife appointment, once you have been referred the midwifes then contact you with a date (28th feb finally) on that day il then get booked in for a later scan...yes the nhs is free (technically not...i pay contributions every month by law out of my salary) but it is shoddy!
Avatar m tn I thought it might be a TIA (pre stroke) and I went to ER. They did an MRI, CT scan and Cartoid artery check and they all came back clear. The doctor diagnosed me with complex migraine. What is migraleve? Does it have any side effects? I do to my nerologist this week. How long do you stay numb. I am going on day four.
Avatar f tn I recently had an MRI scan which has shown a cystic lesion in the right temporal lobe with surrounding hyperintensity ?due to oedema or gliosis. May represent a ganglion cell tumour. My symptoms have been over a period of ?2-3 yrs an odd sensation of disassociation particularly when there is alot of visual stimulus. It makes me feel quite weird when driving or playing sport. I have noticed subtle changes in my memory and learning ability.
Avatar f tn He was given an MRI scan and various other tests. The MRI scan was reported as normal. Can a head trauma of 6 years ago show up in an MRI scan? I should also say that he has a crack in his forhead where he fell and when he laughs it is visible. When you stroke his head you can feel the dent. I have added a piccie of his head it was taken about a 2/3 weeks after his fall.
Avatar n tn Transrectal ultrasound has a relatively low sensitivity and cannot diagnose ejaculation obstruction accurately. So you can talk to your urologist and get MRI scan and transrectal needle-aspiration of the seminal-vesicles done. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn only having migraine in the morning. I think he had an mri scan as well as a ct scan and at the time they mentioned a small cyst which they said was not causing his headaches and was harmless. We have tried everything including excluding foods, drinks etc.
230948 tn?1235844329 More waiting but its a real answer to pray for one an MRI with contrast hardly ever done on the NHS and also no menirers at this point so i can drive as it says if you are dx with menires disease you have to tell the people who give you your licenece and cant drive for a year and i've just orderd a mobilty car so i pick that up friday so i can drive again been a year its been specially adapted so i can.
1817297 tn?1318748356 He went into great detail in my appointment with him why I needed a contrast MRI. But when I went on Wed, the radiologist did the normal MRI and then her technician told me I could go. I queried the contrast, but as I was talking the technician just ushered me out of the room saying the radiologist didn't want to do it, and wouldn't answer any of my questions. I was just told "you go now" and he started with another patient as I was still talking to him.
