mri-scan

Avatar n tn yeah I agree, go to a rheumatologist, Also an MRI will show more detail than a CT especially with nerves and discs. Sciatica sounds like a possibility but any diagnosis would be tentative without full blood screens and a full spinal MRI.

233622 tn?1279334905 The way I understand it is a CT scan shows finer detail that an MRI doesn't. I think the CT scan is good for small things like blood vessels and what your doctor was looking for. I do NOT know this for sure. I just remember hearing that an MRI looks at things in a different way than a CT scan. I would post this question under a new post so maybe others will see it and can answer. I have thought about seeing if there is a T3 in my area.
Avatar n tn Punkin is right. You really need a mri, ct scan or myelogram to check your back. X-rays are fine for looking at bone but will not show disc or nerves. Remedies just depends on what is wrong. Best of luck to you.
Avatar n tn I did have s CT scan of my left leg. It showed that I have a leg mass in the sub Q area most likely fat necrosis. My PCP may order a MRI or just watch and wait.
Avatar m tn As I said before it will be the results of the MRI scan that will determine if there is HCC there or not. When you had the abdominal scan you were given contrast by IV. The contrast makes any HCC tumors in your liver visible if they are there. As far as your AFP level, when a person develops HCC what is normally seen is a constant rise over time (months) in the AFP level. So I would suggest looking at your past AFP levels.
Avatar f tn hi dojeanne, back pain going to the left leg to the toes signifies a slip disc (IVDP=Inter vertebral disc prolapse). One of the easiest method to detect it's severity is to do a straight leg raising test (SLRT), where , while lying on the back, you lift you affected leg as straight as possible, preferably with other person's help. If you can do it upto 90 degrees, it will mean an insignificant prolapsed disc.

Avatar m tn I can lie on my left side as long as I have a pillow between my legs, and even then I need to move my legs every few seconds/minutes (depending on the severity of the pain). I have had CT scan of back, MRI of back, xrays of hip, knee, foot, ultrasound of groin.. all came back normal. This started when I was masturbating and felt a dull pain in my right groin.

Avatar n tn What do the results of MRI mean?Impression: there are a few nonspecific foci of T2 prolongation in the subcortcal white matter in the left frontal and parietal lobes. The differential includes demyelination, sequels of chronic small vessel ischemic change, vasculitis and lime disease.
Avatar n tn Do you have any back pain or muscle weakness in your legs? You may need a mri or ct scan. It sounds like you may have a pinched nerve. This could be very serious if you have back pain along with the numbness. Go to your doctor and get it checked. It could be leading up to serious problems. There is a chart on my profile that shows the nerves and what they control. It may give you a idea of what the problem could be. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I am an irish girl and have had ongoing problems with my head since 2005. In the Summer of 2005, I was admitted to hospital with severe vertigo, I couldn't walk properly whatsoever. I had a CAT scan which came back as "Normal", but then had an MRI brain scan where a number of brain lesions appeared on the brain scan. The doctors then carried out a Lumper Puncture which came back as "Normal", and I also had VWR scan which was also normal.
Avatar f tn By the reason of that, it may cause weakness in the leg, leg/thigh pain and numbness, tingling. Few persons also face generalized body weakness and numbness due to other nerve irritation on back. If he suffers continuous weakness and notice reduced strength of muscle bulk in both the legs, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here.
4084741 tn?1350808485 What are "non-specific" black spots on brain from a MRI scan mean? I do have my MRI disc but unsure how to post it here if that wld help. I finally got diagnosed with migraines with aura last year after a MRI scan without contrast. The neurologist spent a few mins lookin at them before my visit and that's what he told me. He wasn't very communicative nor helpful. He did want to do more tests but I moved back home to Texas.

1166402 tn?1303847056 No, Physical Therapist don't generally order MRI's, it’s usually done by your Primary Care Physician or by a specialist such as a Neurologist or Neurosurgeon. At any rate who every orders it, is probably going to want you to have x-rays done first, MRI's are very expensive, if they see something on the x-ray that concerns them, then they will order an MRI. What they do depends a lot on your symptoms, the severity of your pain and how long you’ve had it.
Avatar f tn Its possible, are you seeing a Doctor, have you had an x-ray or an MRI scan?
1378739 tn?1280217478 Dear Friend, Many thanks for the post and giving me an opportunity to guide you. Well there is a purely disconnect between your symptoms and your CT scan (as you have told that the reports are normal), which is a matter of concern. The reason being, if there is some organic problem, it would had been showing some signal changes in the scan reports, but in your case,we have not found any changes. This points towards more of Inorganic nature of the disease.
Avatar n tn Sounds like lumbar nerve root compression, but the only way to find out is MRI scan or myelogram.
Avatar m tn t find enough evidence of a pinched nerve, so they did another MRI with similar results. Then they did a CT scan, and said I have had a stroke or have a tumor in my head. Another MRI scan with contrast was done of my head on wednesday March 19th. Consultation with a Neurologist on friday March 21 seems to have confirmed the stroke has occured. Does damage from a stroke occur over a period of time like this?
