676032 tn?1315674063 Can someone please give me some information on MCL (medial collateral ligament) damage... i did some damage to my left knee last saturday, physio says it MCL and cartilage damage. The only thing I had done to my knee was an x-ray. Do I not need an MRI or something to determine the damage?? This pain is not even funny anymore!!! Its on the inside of my leg and also out through my patella...
Avatar n tn Would i know if i had ligament damage in my knee from not being able to walk or run or how would i know? Also since I am worring about this i have been paying more attention to this knee and i have noticed if i am waliking then change directions my knee will click. not sure if this has always been there or is normal or could because of fluid build up. i am 25 and am in pretty good shape. just trying to figure this out.
Avatar f tn For you, assessing damage in the knee is important. Without Orthopaedician's visit and checking your tendon insertions and state of ligaments it is difficult to know exactly what damage you have done to your knee. After diagnosis, treatment gets easy. Take care!
Avatar m tn How do you know it is a ligament versus a tendon or something else by MRI or location? I am asking for a selfish reason as I think that I have had a torn ligament and wanted to know how to diagnose it. I would ice it until the swelling goes down and then switch to heat. Keep it raised as much as you can. Are you running on it? Ligaments do take a long time to heal. I wish I had a better answer.
Avatar n tn This can be caused by an injured or torn knee ligament, such as a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the knee. The condition can be treated either by wearing a knee brace or surgery. Trauma, or a sudden turn or twist to the knee can cause a ligament to give out. Go for an MRI and follow up with your orthopedician. Take care!
Avatar m tn About two weeks back on Sept 27, 2015, I was in an accident, and my left knee got twisted but there was no external visible injuries on my whole body(not a single scratch). And next day I got an MRI and X-ray done, X-ray report showed no damage, but the MRI report stated the following: 1) Complete ACL tear. 2) Complete PCL tear 3) Horizontal tear of posterior horn and body of medical meniscus 4) Tear in medial and lateral collateral ligaments.
Avatar m tn It appears to be a ligament or menisceal tear and needs to be checked up properly clinically and with an MRI. Anterior cruciate ligament tears and medial menisceal injuries would require surgical management, arthroscopy and ACL reconstruction and menisectomy respectively. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn actually there is knee injury in my knee before 5 months ....in mri grade one ligament tear and grade two medial meniscus tear is there ....i m not not able to walk properly due to knee pain ........doctor said do quad exercise it will heal .wt can i do ?
Avatar m tn After that I was unable to flex my right knee due to pain but I could manage to walk. Upon x ray and MRI scan it was diagnosed as avulsion fracture of posterior cruciate ligament and the fraction bed was 0.1mm. I was applied with POP bandage over the right leg (no surgery done) and advised bed rest. After the treatment period stepping up and down on stair case was difficult for me and slowly felt crepitating noise from the same knee.
Avatar n tn I haven't injured a ligament or torn anything in my knee, but it sounds like you need to see an orthopedic surgeon. You could have a torn meniscus or any number of injury. I had m right knee replaced and you sure don't want to go that route if you can stop it. Ask your primary to referr you to see an OS, it wouldn't hurt and it might just help.
Avatar n tn I have just had an Arthroscopy after an MRI scan showed a problem with my meliscus. However after the op i was told that my meliscus was fine and that the main part of my upper anterior is very loose and not having any significant function. Should this have shown up on my MRI ? Also what is the best action to take so i am able to play football and snowboard again? Would building up the muscle around my knee be sufficiant?
Avatar f tn The pain is below the knee cap on the left and right side and ontop of the knee cap on the right side and on the inside of the knee from above the knee to below the knee. For the last week and a half I've been getting sharp pains on the right inside of the knee and above the knee while walking or turning from right to left. When this happens the pain is so bad that I can hardly walk. I've also been getting needle type pain below the knee cap in the center.
Avatar m tn Yes i am almost certain that your 2nd reason could be the problem. I have had an MRI scan on my knee and my consultant advised that my knee looks completely normal. All my tendons, ligaments etc look in perfect condition. From researching online, i have read that about 80% of people who have IM nailing done complain of knee pain, which is usually due to the incision that surgeons make through the patella tendon in order to put the nail in.
