Avatar f tn Back at the beginning of december i injured my knee. I had been about to kneel down when my leg gave out and i landed on my knee with it bent in a very awkward way. I had swelling and great amounts of pain and dull ache and after seeing a doctor in A&E was booked for an mri scan and put into a lockable brace which i wore for around 6 weeks as he was sure i'd suffered mcl injury. The scan showed no cartilage damage and no real mcl damage which was suspected.
Avatar n tn She said she will have a CAT scan on the 20th of August. She had physical therapists for a month at home and when she had these hip aches she stopped physical therapy and started only doing short walks once a day. How long and what kind of physical therapy activities should she be doing after the knee replacement? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Bone scan will rule out a stress fracture, MRI will evaluate for more.
98474 tn?1240105274 I had a mri here locally as my friend works for an ortho and scheduled one for me. The doctor here glanced at it for me without me being there just as a friend and he said I had at least one menicus tear. Since I have to wait a week to see the surgeon, I am wondering if this means surgery? I have degenerative j disease in it too. What criteria would they use to recommend replacement? I am not ready for this!
Avatar n tn I have two questions can you please explain in laymen terms. 1. This is what was in the nuclear Medicene doctors finding report, "There is photopenic defect involving the metallic right toe knee arthroplasty hardware". I took this as meaning there is an issue with the hardware on my knee replacement which has cause scare tissue. What else are they trying to say?
Avatar n tn I have for the last month developed inner knee pain. Feels like an electrical jolt at times. Is not a constant pain but wakes my up at night.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response, i have recently recieved mri result which stated inpingment in the hip. My doctor doesnt feel that this is causing the knee pain and still wants to wait for bone scan results. Do you think that the inpingment could be causing all the left bones to be tender to touch? I am still getting shooting pains in my left groin which feel like period type pains going down the top of my leg.
1281296 tn?1271347164 We went back over to the hospital on monday to have an x ray and they say they couldnt see any thing and to wait for an MRI scan. My concerns are that when he had his previous MRI scan it took 3 doctors to detect the ACL damage in the first place. Should the knee be this swollen after nearly two months and why would it swell again once the initial swelling had gone down. Should he be exercising or keeping still?? Using an ice pack or not??
Avatar f tn I’m an 18 y/o climbing Instructor and have suffered with right knee pain for a couple of years now. Recently it got bad to the point where it was unstable and painful without bearing weight. I went to my GP who is a sports team medic (so knew his stuff) and he ordered an MRI as he was concerned about the cartilage. I had the scan last week and I’ve just got the report which just states ‘There is not much on your scan except slight wear to medial meniscus but no tear’.
Avatar f tn The pain hurts when I run for longer than 5 minutes and hurts the duration of the run, and continues hurting the whole day. I had a bone scan and MRI done. THe MRI concluded there were no stress fractures (which surprised me because my pain is very localized--just a two inch patch on my mid tibia that hurt to the palpitated touch). The bone scan showed activity and inflammation in my knee and ankle. The PA I went to told me that it is tendonitis in my knee with referred pain.
Avatar f tn Are there any other tests that might show if there is a problem with the knee cap. Can an MRI be done with TKR, or a Ct Scan or bone scan? Thank you for any advice.
Avatar f tn I had a knee injury in April of this year. I work as Certified Nursing Assistant, while I was moving a patients bed, I felt something inside my right knee pop from left side across the right side. At the moment of the injury it was very painful. I was sent out to workers comp doctor. They took x-rays of the knee, came out negative. I was sent home on sitting and resting, the next day I had bruise on the back of my knee, big as hamburger bun.
1116236 tn?1258855011 Thanks so much for responding, I have no idea why the neurologist didn't do the MRI as he did so many other test I brought my Cat films with me and I think he just quickly look at them, guessing he just took what the Radiolgist had wrote about the scan. I have a right knee replacement with the titanium If I do find its' MS I also think it came around many years ago as I have had weird things for many years but right now I just don't know what?
Avatar f tn I have been to an Orthopedic and have had x-rays and MRI. Nothing specific was noted in the x-ray and scan. The Dr suggested orthoscopic surgery to see what he might be able to do. I have not had the surgery. He also suggested I may have osteoarthritis. The pain will come with walking, sometimes very quickly and sometimes not much at all. When the pain comes, I have a swelling on the outside of the knee joint about the size of half a golf ball.
Avatar n tn This is pain due to nerve irritation and could be sciatica though this travels from thigh to knee, compressive neuropathy due to prolapsed intervertebral disc, nerve compression at the hip joint. It is advisable to undergo an MRI scan spine to check for any disc lesions, bony spurs, spondylolisthesis etc causing compressive radiculopathy. You might need an MRI knee or an arthroscopy of knee to look for any bony spurs etc irritating the nerves.
Avatar f tn Hi Imerson..you probably should get an X-ray for any bone issues or MRI is good for any tissue damage. If you don't have bag of ice use a frozen bag of peas or corn and ice for 15 mins and off 15 mins. Wrap the knee with ace bandage or black knee support until u can get to the doc. does your knee crack? Take ibuprofen as directed for swelling. Hope you can get to the ER or doc soon.
Avatar m tn After that I was unable to flex my right knee due to pain but I could manage to walk. Upon x ray and MRI scan it was diagnosed as avulsion fracture of posterior cruciate ligament and the fraction bed was 0.1mm. I was applied with POP bandage over the right leg (no surgery done) and advised bed rest. After the treatment period stepping up and down on stair case was difficult for me and slowly felt crepitating noise from the same knee.
Avatar m tn my doctor said that the MRI didnt show anything wrong with my knee at all. the doctor thought it could be the fatty pad behind my acl wedging between my miniscus and bone, he also told me every thing looked good insided my knee.. after my surgery my simptoms are still the same. they have prescribed all kinds of anti inflamatories and pain killers non of them work at all. the pain is unbearable when i stand or walk for more than 10-15 minutes. the pain reaches a level 10.
Avatar f tn i have had this for years my doctor told me it could be the start of artheristis,no scan was done as he said it wouldnt pick that up,and as long as there is no swelling or burning sensation that is what it probably is,hope this helps
Avatar m tn You need to avoid postures where knee is kept bent for long. Please consult a sports injury specialist for this. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar f tn I am scheduled for an MRI but not a biopsy. According to all of the information that I have read about this, it is likely a malignancy. It is currently the size of a cherry tomato and when I am in a squatting position where the muscle is engaged, it protrudes. Why did I get scheduled for an MRI and not a biopsy if it is most likely a cancer? What else could it be if not cancer or lipoma?
264121 tn?1313029456 Have you ever noticed (or maybe this just happens for me) but, have you ever noticed that whenever you're scared about something, something happens to inject a little humor into it? So tomorrow morning I'm going to get the PET scan that I beg borrowed and pleaded for at the hematologists office. You know, the one that I harangued that poor nurse prac for to death?
