mri-scan

Avatar f tn Hi, last year I had an MRI scan. I was having it as the Dr was looking to see if I had an AVM on the brain, I get a lot of headaches and have an AVM on my right forearm. When I went to see the Dr he told me my results, he said there is a malformation there but it isnt an AVM. He then pointed to the temporal lobes and said they are low. I should of asked him what that meant, but I never ask questions when Im there, I just say to myself I should of asked this and I should of asked that.

Avatar n tn Did they do MRI or Cat Scan as well? Get those tests as well, they all check the brain, MRI can show seizures I believe and Cat Scan is to show any damage or tumors in the brain.

Avatar n tn My daughter is almost 8 years old, she starting having seizures at the age of 2. SHe has had 5 "normal" EEG's, a normal MRI and ct scan....She was diagnosed at 3 with complex partial seizure disorder, and started on tripletal. She is still battling this, somedays the medicine helps. but other days she has anywhere from 10-25 seizure where her eye flickers, body stiffens and she is unresponsive for anywhere from 45 seconds to 2 minutes.

Avatar m tn blood tests, CT scan of the head or MRI of the head, EEG or lumbar puncture. Depending on the type, there are medications that may be taken. You should observe and record any seizures to ensure the person gets proper treatment with medications prescribed by your doctor. Your initial efforts should be directed first at protecting the child from additionally injuring himself or herself. Help your child to lie down and remove glasses or other harmful objects in the area.

Avatar f tn Hi Elicica, I too have hed epilepsy all my life. I am 48 now. When I recently went for a scan the results came back as normal. Sadly I knew this couldn't be right, as my whole life has been screwed by epilepsy. Anyhow, I got another letter, about 2 weeks later to confirm what I suspected in the first place; namely that there was something there afterall. It was roughly a similar reading to your own.
Avatar f tn Two months ago my sister, 29, had a seizure, full body shaking and unconciousness, bit her tongue and some memory loss. At the hospital her MRI, EEG, EKG CT scan and blood and urine test all came back clear. The Neurologist said, "well, sometimes this happens." Then a week and a half ago she had one in her sleep, and then another just a few days ago. This time the doctor has put her on Kepra. Again her tests came back clear. What does this mean? Does she have epilepsy?
Avatar f tn i feel really ill with it and look very pale it lasts a couple of weeks then goes away then comes back after a few weeks i have other symptoms like flushing and heart racing i have had mri of head and spine there ok but i had a test on my head and was told i have epilepsy what i dont understand epilepsy only lasts a few mins im like this a long time i also have a stange sensation in my back passage along with tingling i think i have some sort of nerve damage that does not show on mri.
Avatar f tn My daughter developed epilepsy at age 5. CAT scan normal, 2 abnormal EEG's, MRI-normal- tests done in 2004. Epilepsy has been in remission and is seizure-meds free. She now has learning disabilities/ADHD. I suggested another MRI in February of this year. She had 2 abnormal MRI's within 4 months. (April and August) PLEASE tell me if this is something to be concerned about. April's MRI showed a white spot on the globus pallidus.
Avatar f tn In February 2015 I had both a CT Scan and MRI scan to check for scars and tumours on my brain/temporal lobe - both came back clear. Which meant that wasn't what was causing my seizures. I'm a 26 yo female - and I went from having a period every 35 days - to having 3 full periods in 41 days (one 5 days, one 10 days and one 7 days long). I went to my GP and she said it wasn't normal and arranged bloods.
Avatar f tn Try not to worry, you probably need medications to control them. They might want to do an MRI and CT scan to verify any brain damage...but the prognosis for infants has such amazing possibilities because their little brains are able to reconnect around the damaged area. Get a medical opinion soon.
Avatar n tn If your son does get an MRI, insist on a 3T MRI (not a CAT, and not a 1T scan or a 2T scan), which is far superior in diagnosing epileptic disorders with defineable cellular origins.
Avatar n tn My seventy year old father complained of headaches and some weakness. Bringing him to the emergency room seemed precautionary, but his ct scan revealed a 'mass.' He is now having mri, and a complete battery of tests. I am so devastated because the first (ct scan) result seems like obvious brain tumor. Can you give me not false hope, but some reason for optimism? Is it possible the 'mass' could represent something else?
Avatar f tn Greetings! A neurologist believes I have temporal lobe epilepsy. He prescribed Keppra and ordered an EEG and a MRI. I received the MRI results in the mail. Its' impression states, "subtle medial temporal asymmetry with mild prominence of the right temporal horn". Will someone please explain how those findings correlate with temporal lobe epilepsy if any? Thank you, kindly.
588318 tn?1218606533 There is a history of epilepsy and mental health issues in the family and I believe he needs a SPECT scan at this point. He had an MRI and EEG a long time ago and they were unremarkable, but I know that sometimes an MRI and EEG scans don't catch everything. We are very concerned about his behavior which all seems to be frontal lobe related ie: impulsivity. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Initially they thought it was Lennox Gastaut Syndrome but the neurologist is still studying his EEG traces and states that he has a very challenging epilepsy. Another question i would like to ask is that i was surprised when he had an MRI scan it came back clear... again the neurologist is going to study the results. Jamie is also developmentally delayed of a child approx 1 to 1 1/2 years old... no speech yet.
Avatar f tn I have had Botox, never block injections and sphenocath. My MRI CT scan and blood work are all clean. I often have to go to the ER for pain. They give me Benadryl cocktail among other IV meds. They end with Diludid which helps but when is wears off the headache immediately comes back. I've tried massage therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, diet change and exercise. Nothing has ever fully relieved my headache. I just got out of the hospital after 3 weeks. My neurologist is out of ideas.
Avatar f tn For the past 10 years I have suffered from Myclonic Epilepsy for which I am taking lamictal. As I have 3 small children I am frequently tired and therefore frequently jerky, often dropping breakfast or spilling milk! I don't think lamictal is particulrly effective although I haven't had a seizure for a number of years. Just over a year ago I had a brain scan which showed that I had a number of white spots, a reason was not given why I have these and I was told not to worry about it.
Avatar f tn He had no recollection of it, he went to the ER, they gave him a series of blood tests and a cat scan and everything came up normal. He was referred to a neurologist who suggested an MRI and EEG. Unfortunately, he has no med insurance and couldn't get the tests without paying up front. 1 month later he had another one. We went to a doctor who gave him more tests for infection and everything came up negative. She put him on Dilantin (300mg) at night.
Avatar f tn could this be epilepsy? does epilepsy often cause a lesion? thank you!
Avatar f tn I was sent by an ENT consultant for an MRI scan to investigate my problem with imbalance in January 2008. I have since obtained a copy of the radiological report. which states the following: "Scattered high signal white matter change is noted bilaterally in a mainly periventricular distribution especially in the parietal and temporal lobe/regions.

His doctor has him on keppra 500mg 4 times a day. the medicine works for about two months and then here come the sezuires. I'M not complaining because I know that things could be worst.
