Avatar m tn He jumped from a Heart Cath with angiogram to a Cardiac MRI. Perhaps it is the cost of doing an IVUS which makes it less popular. Health insurance companies may not want to pay for it as a diagnostic tool.
Avatar f tn Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
Avatar f tn Has anyone needed to fill a thyroid prescription in Europe, and more specifically Spain? Can I show a U.S. doctor's prescription and get Levoxyl from a Spanish pharmacy? How much does it cost? My US health insurance won't allow me to receive more than a 6 months supply before I leave for a year in Spain. They said to have someone in the US pick up the refills and mail them to me in Spain. But I've heard horror stories about Customs in Spain holding onto packages for weeks.
Avatar m tn I had an MRI of the brain back in May, to investigate various cognitive / neurological problems I've been experiencing since the start of 2009 (mild confusion, memory problems, muscle twitching, etc). This came back normal (I have neither copies of the scans , nor the radiographers report - just a letter from neurologist saying all findings were normal).
Avatar f tn m starting to look at bothe embryo or donor egg, I would go with embryo adoption but my husband would prefer his sperm, we are also looking at spain as an option, it will cost us around 6200 Ed for donor eggs plus any meds, and you get all the eggs harvested at that time, this may put us in the position to help another couple or two as we would then donate any useable embryos that we have left over, in australia at the ivf clinic that is in my area 1 egg cost $6000, we wouldnt have the travell e
Avatar n tn An ultrasound and an uptake scan are different tests. :o) Didn't know FNA's were so expensive though...ouch.
1680869 tn?1304912217 A CT scan this month found chiari 1 (in Israel). I am due for an MRI but want to coordinate this with a specialist like this chiari institute (at my first thought). I found someone's post about the Chiari Institute - anyone have information about costs for the evaluation, information about their evaluation experience or anyone on one of those research trials through the universities? I have had almost a month of lower head pain, mild nausea, etc.
1231656 tn?1284404685 Then was called in for MRI scan and three days later for a ultra-sound guided core biopsy, when I was on the table the radiologist then proceeded to biopsy the other breast without saying a word.. When I informed her that it was the wrong breast she told me that the MRI had shown up 2 nodules on the right breast and that was why she was performing the biopsy. Yet again I have been told I have to wait another 2 weeks for the results for both breasts now....
Avatar m tn did they order a follow up with an MRI ? this usually gives a better picture on what it is. I can tell you that most lesions on the liver are hemangiomas which are benign and nothing to worry about.

Many people with Chiari also have Syringomyelia or a Syrinx, You will find Information on both of these conditions here on our health pages. Avatar f tn Other than cost, is there a reason I should have a CT scan instead of an MRI? I would rather not have the radiation exposure of a CT scan if an MRI will produce adequate data. Thank you!
987762 tn?1671273328 The MRI The purpose of a MRI or magnetic resonance imaging machine, is to harmlessly work out what internally is physically wrong with you, without involving exploratory surgery. MRIs have 3 types: conventional, open bore and fully open. In an conventional MRI, a long toroidal (Doughnut-shaped) electromagnet supplies the electromagnetic force, and the subject is put through a long 'tunnel', where a full-body scan is supplied.
Avatar m tn The results are listed below The fibroscan shows i have cirrhosis... the liver biopsy taken 1 month after the fibro scan shows no liver damage. And according to my specialist i am just a carrier without hep activity. My dear friend stef helped me and i thank him. The reason of this post is has any one else experienced such reading with liver biopsys? and what came out of it. What is reliable? should i get a second opinion. or just leave it be. Pls i am anctious about your experiences..
Avatar m tn It's not a cost issue. My doctor doesn't want to send me to MRI nor CT scan. She says that i don't need to do MRI, because CT didn't showed anyting abnormal, and that i am too young for serious disorders. I find this strange, because it was 8 years ago, and i assume that something could changed. Or maybe i'm wrong?

Avatar f tn is an MRI or an ultrasound as accurate as a CT scan in determining if the spot on my liver is a hemangioma and not cancerous? Other than cost, is there a reason I should have a CT scan instead of an MRI? I would rather not have the radiation exposure of a CT scan if an MRI will produce adequate data. Furthermore, should I see a specialist instead of my PCP about this? Thank you!
567677 tn?1246767776 One more thought about the cost - did they give you a price for the MRI test? See if you can get that negotiated rate like they do with the big insurance companies. I'm with Anthem and it seems to me they only pay about 20-25% of the rate that is billed for my MRI's. It would be great if you could get this worked out too.
765439 tn?1292960414 Nevertheless, if you feel strongly about not having a CT scan, you can call your doctor and tell him or her that you want an MRI instead of a CT scan. But be aware that your insurance may decline to cover the cost of the MRI since CTs are the standard for a 21 y/o male patient.
Avatar m tn "The cost to U.S. taxpayers could be enormous. Abengoa has received nearly $3 billion in loan guarantees from the Department of Energy, as well as more than $100 million in federal grants." http://www.acting-man.com/?
Avatar n tn Preferable even less of a wait if it exists. I will be moving to Spain next week and will live there definitely for 6months. After that time, depending on my work, I will either be able to stay in Spain or I will have to move, probably back to the U.S. but potentially to another country as well.
Avatar f tn Shirley, You should get a abdomonal CT Scan (full scan that shows many views ) and a CA125 test. What tests did he do for the constipation and diarrea? Many times Dr.'s think that these symptoms are related to GI and they could be related to the female reproductive tract.
Avatar n tn As the CT scan report was normal and since there was no MRI scan facility in the hospital the patient was not shifted immediately to another one. The doctor of the hospital to which he was later admitted mentioned about the delay. that is why i felt so. Do you think that the CT scan report which mentioned "brain-stem normal" was correct?
