Avatar f tn Is it necessary to have more than one MRI scan done. I have only ever had the one scan, 15 yrs ago which was when I was given my official dx, despite having several episodes/relapses since. Initially told I had RRMS now being told I have SPMS with relapses.
Avatar f tn a CT Guided biopsy of the liver and a Ct scan of the abdomen with and w/o contrast. I made the appointments for both at the same hospital, this past Friday for the biopsy which I had it done and next Friday for the ct scan of the abdomen. I think both tests are for different purposes. But definitely tomorrow I will contact my doctor and ask him. By the way what it means HCC.
564735 tn?1263943526 Has anyone ever ran into this problem...5 days ago I had an abdomen ct scan and the radiologist found something suspicous and my ob/gyn advised me to contact my gynecological oncologist at MD Anderson. She scheduled me for another Abdomen ct scan. My insurance company won't authorize payment for another ct scan so soon. I did leave a copy of my last ct scan ( 5 days ago) at my gyn. oncologist office.
Avatar n tn When having a Hida scan, Do you lay in a machine such as the one of an MRI or what?
Avatar m tn I had an MRI of the brain back in May, to investigate various cognitive / neurological problems I've been experiencing since the start of 2009 (mild confusion, memory problems, muscle twitching, etc). This came back normal (I have neither copies of the scans , nor the radiographers report - just a letter from neurologist saying all findings were normal).
Avatar m tn The reason I asked is that they don’t typically require follow up imaging for HCV treatment unless the patient relapses, or if late stage disease is present; in that case, ongoing monitoring for HCC (liver cancer) is often recommended. I’d go with the scan, as JD suggested; the benefits generally outweigh any risks.
Avatar n tn White spots appearing on an MRI scan for an 18 year old, with severe stomach problems.
Avatar n tn An ultrasound and an uptake scan are different tests. :o) Didn't know FNA's were so expensive though...ouch.
Avatar m tn It makes no difference whether it is closed bore or not. The imaging principle remains the same. It is the contrast agent that enhances the images. While not all MRIs require contrast, it can be very beneficial in certain cases to show certain anatomy more clearly. It improves diagnostic accuracy, especially in cases of certain tumors, blood vessels, inflammation or infection. MRI contrast agents do not contain iodine and rarely cause allergic reactions or other problems.
Avatar f tn m curious why your doctors decided to do an MRI instead of a CT scan? Often times, especially in the abdomen, a CT scan will show things that an MRI cannot.
Avatar f tn I recently had an ultrasound scan on my abdomen, the result of it was that, the tail end of my pancreas was not showing up on the scan. A furtherCT scan is being arranged What would be the likeliest reason for that to happen.. This discussion is related to Prominent Tail of Pancreas on CT and Ultrasound.
Avatar m tn did they order a follow up with an MRI ? this usually gives a better picture on what it is. I can tell you that most lesions on the liver are hemangiomas which are benign and nothing to worry about.
Avatar m tn CT is usually pretty good at detecting pancreatic cancer, but like any imaging test has its limitations. If your symptoms persist, consider MRI/MRCP abdomen with and without contrast, which is more sensitive.

Avatar f tn My family dr said that because of this i now have to go to an MRI and bone scan. Does anyone know if this is an indication of ovarian cancer spreading to the spine? Waiting for answers is literally driving me crazy.
Avatar n tn For proper diagnosis, it is important that direct clinical examiantion and diagnostic tests be done. Imaging studies such as CT scan or MRI may also help. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn m wondering whether or not this is really necessary. The scan is going to cost me somewhere in the area of $750, even with my insurance. I don't make a lot of money, so $750 is a whole lot of money for me to spend on a test that may or may not be necessary. Should I have the test done or wait a week or so to see if I notice anything else unusual?
Avatar m tn anny clues ?
Avatar f tn my husband's PET scan report shows SUV=3.9 to 9.7. In PET scan, there is a lymphnode in neck and some in chest. SUV of neck lymphnode is 9.7 and for chest lymphnodes, it is 3.9 to 6.4. Docotrs wanted to do biopsy of this neck lymphnode but it was found difficult to do. He said that there is also possibility of sarcoidosis. In sarcoidosis, may this SUV be too high? My husband has no symptoms of lymphoma. Now what should we do? Doctors suggested to take regular checkup. But I am afraid.
