Avatar f tn Can you please explain my MRI of the brain done with and without contrast please: On T2 weighted and FLAIR sequences, there are multiple subcentimeter round ovoid foci of high signal in the right frontal lobe periventricular white matter, in addition to several subcentimeter lesions in the periventricular and subcortical white matter in the left frontal lobe and the subcortical white matter in the posterior right frontal lobe.
Avatar f tn MS cannot be diagnosed by MRI alone. The revised (2010) McDonald Criteria sets out the formula, if you will, for diagnosing this disease. Further, MS is a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning that its many mimics (eg Lyme disease, Lupus, Myasthenia Gravis, Sjogren's Syndrome, B12 deficiency, etc etc etc) for which there are more conclusive tests, must be ruled out. Wiki has a good overview of the McDonald Criteria. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonald_criteria#Revised_Diagnostic_Criteria_.

2202709 tn?1338755799 Bubbles, I would call the doc's office and let them know it says ct scan instead of MRI. MRI's are needed for MS findings. It could be a mix up or they may have a reason for ct scan. I've had a sinus ct scan to find cyst etc.but the brain and c-spine was both MRI's. Still lifting you in prayer and best of wishes for answers.
Avatar n tn I'm 50yrs old just had a MRI SCAN ON THE BRAIN and it showed large white spots should I be worry
12807846 tn?1427329550 Does anyone else have brain shaking with their MS? My daughter was admitted to the hospital with stroke like symptoms March 16th, 2015. They did an MRI and C Scan. She stayed 3 days. She did have a few spots on her MRI. She is weak, lots of pain, foggy, and still has a little problem with speech. She has trouble with her S's words. When she starts to feel worse again; it starts with her brain shaking.
Avatar n tn I am sorry to hear that you have been going through so much in life! As the differential diagnosis suggests the MRI findings indicate changes in brain that could be due to Lyme’s disease (because of Tick bite you had) or could be due to inflammation of brain blood vessels (vasculitis), degeneration or destruction of myelin sheath of nerves (seen in MS and autoimmune disorders) or due to narrowing of blood vessels causing poor blood supply and poor oxygen supply to parts of brain.
Avatar f tn The various causes of brain lesions on an MRI are brain aneurysm, brain arteriovenous malformation, brain tumor, hydrocephalus, stroke, multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injury. A strong degree of suspicion needs to be kept for multiple sclerosis. . Multiple sclerosis is a chronic demyelinating neurological disorder where the disease phase is characterized by active phase and remissions. It has multiple symptoms and signs and is a diagnosis of exclusion.
Avatar f tn Do you also go to see a neurologist - is that who ordered your previous brain MRI? Also wondering if they used MS protocol when they did the MRI? I know that it sometimes takes a long time to get a diagnosis of MS. They need to rule out everything else that might be causing your symptoms before they can really say it's MS.
Avatar f tn Hi could anyone please tell me what these mri scan results mean 3mm high T2 signal on the axial FLAIR in the left corona radiata with no restricted diffusion. Lumbar sacral spine shows early end plate changes. I'm waiting to see neurologist to discuss these results but would love a heads up. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn He was given an MRI scan because of some mild dizziness that lasted several weeks. The MRI scan showed non-specific high signal white matter and so a lumber puncture was taken to eliminate any autoimmune diseases. Most surprisingly, the CSF showed oligoclonal bands. Neuro says that the dizziness was not an episode of MS and likely to have viral infection but the abnormal MRI and CSF point towards MS. He can't diagnose MS as husband has had no clinical symptoms whatsoever.
Avatar f tn How long is a mri with ms protocol usually? I had one and it was 20 minutes without contrast and 7 minutes with contrast on a 1.5 tesla is this pretty standard?
Avatar f tn When I was 28 my brain MRI scan had 7-8 lesions, a couple that were several cm in diameter near the corpus callosum, which gave worry that I had MS even though I was ultimately diagnosed with Lyme. Lyme does not always cause lesions, though. Many people very sick from Lyme for a long time will have normal MRI's. Lyme is not diagnosed through MRI, but it can be diagnosed by blood tests and/or clinically through symptoms. Do you think you have Lyme disease?

Avatar m tn s office yesterday explaining my symptoms and going through a short nuero exam which i passed........my question is does a brain scan pickup about 95% of the cases involving ms.2.Since its only been two months since my symptoms presented itself is that long enough to show anything, is there a window per say.3.since my symptoms involve my legs cramping. feeling stiff, tiring easy...
Avatar m tn After all that testing is It possible that something like MS has been missed after 3 Brain 2 cervical MRI and 1 C spine MRI. My doctor was laughing at me because I said is it possible for MS. What do you think about everything I have just said???
422104 tn?1209763904 Good evening, just looking for an interpretation of my brain scan. "Within the right frontal white matter, three small foci of T2 hyperintensity are seen which represent non speciific white matter disease. May be related to small vessel ischemia, vasculitis or potentially demyelinating disease." Guess I'm asking if anyone dx with MS had a similar report.
Avatar n tn hello sllowe the doc told me i have lesions in my brain they showed up in the MRI scan.he said its showing MS but told me to forget about it because i was sent for a CT scan by the mentle heath team because i was seeing things.he said the lesions on my brain are down to my mentle heath.but my CPN said it is not pose for anyones mentle heath to show up in there brain or from a MRI scan.i no myself i have MS because of the things that happen to me but its had when a doc wont take it on.
