Avatar f tn Headaches after a brain injury can also be due to concussion, and normally CT and MRI are normal. However, yes, MRI should be done to rule out brain injury as the cause. Stress due to concussion and brain injury can also be the cause. Also get your blood pressure checked. Take care!
Avatar n tn she can even read books and tell you what is on Tv. The Neurologist tells me that he sees no brain injury thru the MRI or catscan. The phycitris tells me that there has to be brain damage. This is where I am at this time. She has medicare as a primary and blue cross blue shield as a secondairy insurence. If there is brain damage, will she get better with the proper help???
Avatar f tn Herniation could result from many factors causing mass effect and increase intracranial pressure including traumatic brain injury, stroke and brain tumor. You need to consult a neurologist immediately with this concern, as this can be fatal. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn Hi I had a MR scan of my brain a couple of weeks ago as I had vertigo’s episodes some times . According to my doctor the MR results shows some unspecified gliosis. He said this is not a major problem, as it can be associated to some sleeping disorders and nothing with the vertigo. Do you agree with this opinion or I should check with a neurologist?
Avatar n tn The report read "cyst formation". deep white matter changes around the periventricular region" Final Impression: Bilateral medial and occipital chronic changes with deep white matter changes and volume loss. Is this serious. Thanks a lot.
Avatar f tn A CT Scan usually is best if a suspicion for a stroke or a bleed within the brain is being considered. If there was a previous head injury, then a cranial CT scan may be the scan of choice. MRI is superior than CT scan in evaluating soft tissue changes within the brain and nearby structures. It may note inflammation or swelling which may suggest further evaluation. What was the indication for your scan? What symptoms do you have? Was there any prior trauma or injury to head or neck?
Avatar n tn How long does it take for a brain bleed to show up on a 16 slice CT scan in a 14 month old baby? And can you tell me where I can find information on this?
Avatar m tn i would definitely get your head checked. if the CT scan does not show anything, and you still feel strange, request an MRI. sometimes CT scans don't show what the MRI does. this was the case for my brain injury. the CT scan showed nothing, but the MRI i had later showed a clear injury to the brain. take care!
Avatar m tn Your daughter needs to be in the ER right now and based on the CT-SCAN/MRI doctors will take immediate action if it is subdural hematoma, epidural hematoma, intracerebral hematoma or something else. I don't think anyone here will be able to predict the consequences at this point. DO NOT DELAY in getting treatment because the initial hours are crucial for full recovery. I am not sure where you are located but in U.
Avatar n tn Your husband had a concusssion and possibly a bleed inside his brain. I am stunned that an MRI was not performed within an hour after his hospital admission. There may be a missing piece here. Perhaps he was given a CT scan and doesn't remember. Often the MRI machines are nbot available 24/7. All of this being said, very little can be done to improve outcomes after missing a treatment opportunity. Some people recover one hundred percent and others do not.

Avatar m tn CT scan, MRI to check any damage to brain. You would be prescribed acetaminophen, ibuprofen, rest, preventing secondary brain injury, avoiding driving etc. Hope this helps. Take care.
998545 tn?1249847230 My injury was sustained as a result of a car accident 5 years ago. My husband and I were hit by a drunk driver. He's disabled, and I have a brain injury. My injury is around the mid lower brain, and the brain stem area. It's a diffuse injury so it's widespread. It is a microscopic injury - damage to the brain does not always show up on an imaging scan.
Avatar m tn Would a brain scan be of any benefit in this situation such as an MRI or CATSCAN? I am not sure if it is a brain injury that has been aggravated by the cigarette poisons or not. I am not sure if it is a tumor. Would a brain scan determine any diagnosis? Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn You need to go and get a CT scan or MRI (preferably) immediately for your head injury. I had a similar injury and turned out to be bleeding on the brain. When I first went to ER they didn't diagnose my brain injury first and only after 3 days when I went to PCP (because I had dizziness, headache etc.,) she immediately ordered CT Scan which revealed my brain contusion. It has been 1 year and 5 months and am still suffering everyday and tried all therapies, meds etc. with no success.
Avatar n tn Hi, This pain and numbness could be due to brain injury. I would suggest you to get a CT scan or MRI at the earliest and please consult a neurologist as symptoms may worsen. Take care!
Avatar n tn For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain or spinal abnormalities after that injury. Treatment commonly may be suggested for symptoms such as pain-killers, some antidepressants, physical therapy and regular exercises. If you suffer continuous symptoms, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you an appropriate treatment.
Avatar n tn CT Scans are very common when it comes to possible brain injury. Scans w/ contrast can show different things than a scan without, as the contrast is a dye that's injected into your bloodstream and will show more vascular/blood related injuries/abnormalities as opposed to one without contrast which would look more at the physical things. I personally would go with contrast given that this is a head injury which has the possibility for a concussion, but that's just imo.
Avatar f tn Can you please explain my MRI of the brain done with and without contrast please: On T2 weighted and FLAIR sequences, there are multiple subcentimeter round ovoid foci of high signal in the right frontal lobe periventricular white matter, in addition to several subcentimeter lesions in the periventricular and subcortical white matter in the left frontal lobe and the subcortical white matter in the posterior right frontal lobe.
Avatar m tn There is a possibility that the injury in childhood has caused mild injury to frontal lobe of the brain. The other possibility is that there was an upper cervical nerve injury or compression. The third possibility is a sleep disorder. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. Take care!
