Avatar n tn I have a game tonight and although it is better even after two days, I am trying to figure out if the problem is my heel or achilles tendon. If it is my achilles then I will definitely sit out for a while, but if it is my heel then I will play since I have had bruising on the ball of my foot before due to impact and I played through that it went away... Is there any quick way of figuring this out? Thanks in advance.

Avatar f tn The MRI describes a previous healed sprain of ATFL and findings consistent with sprain of the deltoid and the spring ligament. Mild tendonopathy (Tendonitis/ tendinitis) of the posterior tibia, peroneus longus and achilles tendon (tendons in the foot) is also seen. A small joint effusion (slightly increased fluid content of the joint) is also seen, which commonly occurs secondary to mild inflammation of the joint.
Avatar f tn It occurs when part of the muscle of the lower leg (gastrocnemius or soleus) is torn away from the Achilles tendon. Tendonitis of the Achilles tendon too can cause calf pain. A foot and ankle surgeon should look at this. Diabetes and hypothyroidism too should be investigated. Both can cause myalgia or muscle pain. Also get his electrolytes checked—sodium, potassium and calcium. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining.
Avatar n tn very low and to the outside. Not near the Achilles Tendon. I am developing the same thing in the left foot (same location). Right "bruise" is so swollen the skin split and it weeps a clear fluid. Regular physician was stumped. Visited a podiatrist who had no idea what was wrong. Xrays taken, no heel spur, no foreign object, nothing. Have been surfing looking for an answer. Nothing seems to fit description other than some sort of inflammatory condition.
1777607 tn?1314442174 In November they did an MRI of my achilles tendon but not of my calf, the test came back negative, but I never had a second opinion, or saw the image. The pain is occurring on the inside, bottom side of the calf and the pain radiates half way down the achilles tendon. I have been on naprosyn, ibueprofen 500mg/800mg, and now I have been prescribed mobic 15mg. I have never been in a orthopedic boot. I am desperately trying to find out what I need to do to solve my pain.
Avatar f tn She had MRI, CT Scan, X-Ray, Ultrasound and bloodwork and still no diagnosis. She does not know how it started. One day her whole leg started hurting then it was her calf and not her foot. Any advice would be wonderful as I am feeling a bit defeated. She has a neurologist appt scheduled for 11/30, the earliest they can get her in.
Avatar m tn Was Levaquin knowing as a cause of Achilles tendon rupture before September/2006?
Avatar n tn A few days after the last dose my left Achilles tendon was very sore. 1 month later, I went to my podiatrist. I had an MRI and it confirmed 2 tears in the tendon as a reaction to Levaquin. Had surgery in May 2017. In a cast for 3 months, then 12 weeks of PT. Today, still swollen, but was told it will last about a year. Now, 12 months after my doses of Levaquin, same Achilles tendon symptoms but now in my right ankle.
Avatar f tn The MRI describes an inflammatory oedema (swelling due to fluid accumulation) in the fat pad near the Achilles tendon, which could occur secondary to injuries or inflammation. There is slightly increased fluid in the posterior part of the subtalar joint (part of ankle joint), which may be normal in some people or may indicate a mild inflammation. If you do not have any symptoms otherwise, these findings may be taken as normal.
Avatar m tn Suffered Achilles Tendon Rupture while sprinting in March 2010 and had surgical repair in April 2010. Tearing point is about 9cm from the heel and the gap was about 8cm. A lot of graft was put in during the surgery. I am currently having redness, swelling and pain in my lower leg and around the incision site. There is drainage from the lower incision site, but recent culture report showed negative. Recent MRI, suggested enlarged and thickened repaired tendon.
778480 tn?1235826812 and have had some physical therapy There is not much if any pain involved anymore but there is still a good amount of thickness through the achilles tendon compared to the normal looking tendon on my other calf. My question is, eventually does this thickness go away? Has it gone away in other paitents with time? Will it go away if the person is still actively using the leg for light sports activities? I am seeking other opinions because I haven't got a good answer from my MD.
Avatar f tn 08 I have a very thick (swollen but hard) achilles tendon. I have fairly good pointing motion but 0 degree dorsiflexion. What could this be ? Thanx!
Avatar m tn I ruptured my Achilles tendon 3 times. I had 2 surgery, but again I re-ruptured it 2 weeks after my second surgery. Do you think is it better I go with another surgery? or I go with conservative treatment? Do you think if I walk I will walk with a permanent limp forever?
Avatar f tn I tore my achilles tendon yesterday and have now got a cast i was told this would be on for 6 weeks my toes are pointing towards the floor and was told after the cast was removed they would move the foot up a bit more and put another cast on this and then do the same again a few weeks later, is this what usually happens and will i need and sort of physio afterwards. Many Thanks for any answers.
Avatar m tn ve got 2 chips on either side of the ankle, partially torn ligaments, and stretched ligaments along with a swollen and strained Achilles tendon, and internal swelling (not sure what that means, but the dr said it was an issue). He said nothing is permanent and it will all get better over time, but he wants me on crutches and in a boot for two weeks. I guess lack of pain does not always mean everything is okay.
1275938 tn?1281195461 I damaged an Achilles tendon about 2 months ago,, due to trying out a 'new' running style. The pain was not too intense, but I noticed that a lump had developed above the ankle, just above shoe level. The Doc. said I needed an Ultra-sound check ~ not available for circa. 2 to 3 months. I'm training for an event that will certainly test it out. Doc.
Avatar f tn I love to play soccer, and when I play, I get pretty tough. I have really bad ankles, and about 3 days ago, my foot started hurting really bad, then it would go away and come back. I've done some research and I think I've ripped my Achilles Tendon, my sister [in medical field] believes I did, but my parents don't believe me. It hurts from right about my toes, to about 3 inches past my foot. I don't know what to do, I've tried to keep it elevated and stay off it.
Avatar m tn Was there any possibility pointing to a possible Achilles Tendon issue?
432312 tn?1265644974 Hi all... I woke up today with my Achilles tendon hurting so much that I can not bear weight. I have hurt my Achilles tendon once before when I over used it doing PT exercises. I can't think of anything I could have done to it yesterday though. Unlike the last time I injured this tendon it only hurts on my left side not in both feet. I get Charley horses in my legs and feet and when I am getting this a lot my legs seem to spasm and shake...
Avatar n tn t remember the right name to call him) you should NEVER have a steriod shot in your Achilles tendon! I can cause the tendon to dissolve. I had a partial tear in my A tendon a little over 3 years ago. I wore a boot for 6 weeks. It still causes me pain, and if I am on my feet a lot, by the end of the day you can see the swelling and bulging tendon. I have one of the ace bandage ankle brace that I wear if it gets too bad. It puts pressure on the tendon, and helps a lot.
Avatar m tn Another indicator I kept noticing mentioned was the Achilles tendon reflex test. It was always recognized as another indication of thyroid status, but too subjective to be utilized extensively. Now it seems that an objective test has been developed for the reflex time of the Brachio-Radialis muscle of the forearm which is more convenient than the Achilles tendon test. The test uses a reflex hammer connected to a laptop computer which measures reflex time in milliseconds.
155639 tn?1251738603 I understand why it is there, this is due to swelling on the tendon and the swollen tendon moving under the sheath. My question is this, how long does it typically take for this feeling to subside? I am not in any pain when I walk. I am able to go up and down stairs without issue. Am I safe to start running again, low miles? I was in the middle of a marathon training program when this occured. Any advise is welcomed. Thanks!
Avatar n tn How long does it take for the Achilles tendon tissue to repair from a surgery after the complete rupture to the degree when the physiotherapy can be started?
