Avatar m tn You are experiencing symptoms of opioid withdrawal -- one of which is hyper (high) algesia (feeling of pain). Hyperalgesia means you're experience increased pain for no apparent reason, other than opiate withdrawal. Opioid-induced hyperalgesia (OIH)is one of the most understudied aspects of opioid research.
Avatar f tn I am on very strong pain meds for my lupus & fibro (morphine & demerol) which I take daily regardless if I'm in that level of pain or not..the morphine that is, the demerol is for break thru pain only (this was directed by both my family doctor as well as my rheumatologist). I suspect maybe this regimen is causing other serious health issues. The past 3 days I have had lupus flare type symptoms....
Avatar f tn My doctor a year later completely took me off the Tramadol and replaced it with Morphine ER with Percocet for break through pain and I had no withdrawal symptoms from stopping the Tramadol at all!!! By the way, when I stopped the Tramadol completely, I was taking the same amount as you per day. The amount of Fentanyl you are on is stronger than the starting dose of Morphine that I was on when I stopped taking Tramadol.
Avatar f tn You cannot take regular opiate pain medication however while taking either because this medication is specifically designed to help people withdrawal from heroin/ and synthetic heroin aka any opioid pain meds. I specifically asked my doc to put me on subtex after my surgery because I had been prescribed norco for pain and didnt want to have any side effects. It's a VERmY effective medication and doesn't give you any doped up feeling or nausea like the regular opiates.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am new to this website but I recently went to my pain management doctor and my medication was changed from 7.5 percocets 4xday to 15mg of morphine sulfate er 3xday. However, I find the morphine is not as effective in helping me with my pain level and the side affects from the morphine are severe headache, stomache upset, tired then restless at times, eyesight affected, and just don't feel good or like me.
Avatar n tn I know pain mgt docs often perscribe methadone and oxy together I believe to help offset the addiction-methadone is essentially a medication used to help stop withdrawls from heroin but has pain-relieving proerties to it.Supposedly without the "high" (although there are plenty here that will attest otherwise). Not sure if this answered your question?Do a little research on the health pages as well as read some of the other posts...there is much to be learned hre so stay with us!
Avatar m tn Aloha To all who were kind enough to answer my question on withdrawal from morphine, I want to thank you for your help. I have gotten some help from an acupuncture doctor and with his help I was able to not have any withdrawal symptoms at all. This is something any one ging through drug withrawals should consider since it is painless and works.
454606 tn?1361925680 Every time I go to the ER or Urgent care they say my problem is the meds I take, zeroing in on the Morphine. If I had a Morphine pump would it still effect my body this way? I really need my pain addressed. I can take Percoset. Other than that, other substitutes I've tried didn't work or I had life threatening reactions.
Avatar m tn I have another question for you regarding morphine withdrawal. I am now scheduled for a relatively minor but painful surgery (they tell me) in my abdomen to repair 1 or maybe 2 hernias that I got when I had ascites 4 years ago. My abdomen basically extended until it burst in 1 or 2 places. I almost died. Without going into a lot of detail...this happened because I had cirrhosis of the liver. Why I had cirrhosis nobody knows....I certainly didn't drink THAT much..but whatever...
Avatar n tn Is it possible to come off of the morphine patch, 50 mg every 3 days I think, gradually. The person I am trying to help is about 75 years old and has been on these patches about 3 years. We got her to go down from 75 mg about 6 months ago. We want to take her to 35 mg and decrease by 12.5 mg. How often and how much should we decrease by. What do we expect to happen, and please give any advice or help. She desperately needs to get off.
Avatar f tn How long does the withdrawal last. I was also taking morphine sulphate- alot like 800 mg daily on top of the fent and i stopped that so I think I am withdrawaling off that also.
Avatar f tn help me, or is this normal (and not dangerous) for methadone withdrawal? IS it methadone withdrawal or an adverse reactions to the Morphine? I want to go to the E.R., but my husband is 100% convinced it would be a waste of time, and since I don't drive, I am at his mercy. Thanks for reading!
Avatar n tn Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication. Buprenorphine is similar to other opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin however, it produces less euphoric ("high") effects and therefore may be easier to stop taking. Naloxone blocks the effects of opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin.
Avatar m tn Hello I am taking 2 morphine long lasting 60mg of morphine for neuropathic pain. But I was chewing it to get a better result and some days I took 3. I am not proud of this but this is my life so far. Now I have been given another drug divoprolex and it helps with the pain a great deal. I wanted to ask anyone if you have ever heard of leg pain associated with tablets of morphine, I woke up at night and my legs felt like they were on fire.
Avatar f tn i want to know what to expect when i stop taking my prescription morphine extended release i.v., and start taking it orally again. i have been taking my immediate release pills i.v. for a year. the extended release for less time, approximately eight to nine months. will i experience withdrawal symptoms? i know that no one can say for sure, but there must be someone out there who can speak to this situation that i am in.
Avatar f tn I'm also in the same predictament, i've been on Morphine for maybe 6 yrs now and now i;m allergic to it, closing my throat up, I was on fentnyl patch which only last for a lil while, thats why i was on morphine, the patch only lasted for day and half, then i would take the morphine, i'm allergic to percocet so if you go on them it only last for so many yrs, then What?
Avatar f tn Tapering is a process of slowly lowering the total daily dose of a medication, and managing/minimizing withdrawal symptoms. A proper taper should produce little to no withdrawal symptoms. However, any major reduction/stoppage done suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms lasting 3-5 days. Primary care doctors these days often will NOT prescribe opiates, except for a few days.
Avatar f tn I just want to know any experiences of women who have had a baby while on the morphine. I want to know good or bad. birth defects or none and withdrawal or not. .
Avatar n tn Am I kidding myself and just an addict with regular withdrawal symptoms? Is it possible to use morphine regularly and NOT be an addict. I certainly don't feel like one.
