Avatar f tn We took him to the hospital and they gave him morphine and the hallucinations were back. I swore that the morphine was making him hallucinate but the doctors said it was dementia. We took him home and hospice kept upping the dose of the morphine. Finally he got so bad we couldn't take care of him at home. He went to the hospital and finally a nursing facility for 11 days. He died there after his body shutdown. He wouldn't eat or drink anything.
787079 tn?1285461767 I recently stopped cold turkey on the generic form of this medication, I had severe reaction to the drug enough for conventional medicine to intervene, they have me on suboxone 8mg then 2mg in a combination pill form, (orange) I was wondering if you could tell me, when these episodes will stop, I really want to avoid going back on any narcotics at this point because I also withdrew from morphine, and percocet.
Avatar m tn Aloha To all who were kind enough to answer my question on withdrawal from morphine, I want to thank you for your help. I have gotten some help from an acupuncture doctor and with his help I was able to not have any withdrawal symptoms at all. This is something any one ging through drug withrawals should consider since it is painless and works.
1469703 tn?1372041476 I'm wondering if anyone else here has had any issues with Copaxone concerning side effects other then the injection site reactions? I've been on Copaxone for 3 months now, I am agitated, frustrated, quick to anger. I've also been experiencing paranoia and mild visual hallucinations. I'm getting sick at least every 2 weeks, and have a general feeling of "un-well" or "ill".
Avatar m tn Granted it is not classified as a narcotic but it works much like Morphine and on the same receptors. Like morphine, tramadol binds to receptors in the brain (opioid receptors) that are important for transmitting the sensation of pain from throughout the body. As you have discovered you must taper from this medication. You cannot abruptly withdraw from Tramadol. It could cause such symptoms as anxiety, sweating, insomnia, increased pain, nausea, diarrhea and hallucinations.
Avatar n tn The hallucinations are not normal, but weird that she is having the hallucinations now and didn't when she was getting the med in the hosp? Could it be another medication they gave her? Sometimes even some strong antibiotics can cause this if you have a reaction to it. Perhaps another pain medication- something long acting, or muscle relaxer? Just a thought. Definitely call the doctor and let them know about it. They may not do anything and see what she's like in the a.m.
Avatar n tn I would look at any medications he is on, as some can cause hallucinations. I'm glad he's at the ER, this is not normal under any circumstances.
Avatar n tn my husband is quitting cold turkey off of morphine...went from heroin to morph to both....day 3 and hes still having a hard time.....
Avatar f tn As far as its strength as an analgesic it is pretty just a little weaker than hydrocodone and has side effects that act more like morphine, such as hallucinations or psychotomimetic effects on the body. It says that .38 mgs of talwin is equivalent to 10 mgs of morphine, so as far as your question goes that right there tells you how strong it is.
Avatar m tn She had a disc replaced in her back last may and when that only intensified the pain she was put on Morphine, Delodid, Fentinol, Norco, Valuim, Baclofin, and Resteral. I realize not all of those medicines are pain killers, however she was taking them all due to the pain or the side effects of the medicine. I'm writing today because she Finally had a procedure called a Radio Frequency Ablation.
12770311 tn?1427162859 Hi everyone! My name is Bob. I'm new here, but not new to the topics and pain that you all deal with. I was an architectural heavy metals fabricator and installer for almost 30 years a d received more than my share of injuries. Lots of stitches and smashed body parts never did I require pain meds other than a couple of aspirin and in many case Wendy's napikins and duct tape, foregoing a y medical treatment.
1271743 tn?1320892461 If you are taking Morphine for a couple of months and the doctor changes you to Methadone, will the Methadone prevent withdrawal symptoms normally experienced from stopping the Morphine?
Avatar f tn I am also having hallucinations where spiders are crawling over me, and other mad hallucinations. I have detoxed before, but never experienced this.
Avatar n tn Well it's been 22 hrs since I've taken anything for pain. I was on OpanaER and Morphine tabs. I took this to withdrawl off Oxycodone 90mgs evry 4hrs and Dilaude 16 mg evry 4hrs. I took them for 1 week. I cried, screamed and I was so emotional. Now I'm getting off the opana and morphine. I got cloidine, Xanax, something for my stomach, Soma for the spasms in ur muscle, and something for sleep. So far so good. You can feel the withdrawls even with the opana and morphine but not as bad.
217599 tn?1202850952 prescribed some really large doses of morphine for him, and he has kidney problems. just the last three days now, he has started to have almost constant halucinations. the dr has changed his pain meds, and cut out the morphine alltogether. how long will these halucinations go on and could this be permanent? because of the kidney problems, he can't take any form of anti-inflamatory meds. that is what almost destroyed them.
Avatar n tn I started thinking of violent crazy scenarios in my head when I would try to go to sleep.......... these turned into auditory hallucinations and progressed to extremely realistic visual hallucinations by about the 3rd night of my alcohol withdrawal. I had no idea that I was going through DT's-- I was in a total state of delerium and extremely hyper-active. Everything was moving really fast and I was losing my mind.
Avatar f tn i want to know what to expect when i stop taking my prescription morphine extended release i.v., and start taking it orally again. i have been taking my immediate release pills i.v. for a year. the extended release for less time, approximately eight to nine months. will i experience withdrawal symptoms? i know that no one can say for sure, but there must be someone out there who can speak to this situation that i am in.
Avatar m tn The last refuge of an alcoholic is to say "I'm not as bad as those other people". Why is it happening to you? Because you drink too much. Period. Sorry to be blunt, but there is no sugar coating this. Can you cut down? If you really have stomach problems, you need to stop and you should also see a doctor immediately. I don't know your level of alcohol addiction, but some withdrawal symptoms can be severe if you've been drinking a lot, so please be careful.
