1148698 tn?1261715542 Your Dr may want to give you asome type of benzodiazapine concurrently with elavil to alleviate the anxiousness associated with withdrawal. I have never heard of Elavil ALONE being used to treat withdrawal symptoms. Elavil is one of the older antidrepressants. QUESTION: Is your Dr. an Addiction Specialist? Has he mentioned Suboxone to treat the Withdrawal Syndrome? You may want to mention this to him as I know of no use for Elavail other than for depression.
Avatar f tn I suffer severe depression and Anxiety...Currently I'm on Percs..10mg 6 times a day and Soma 4 times a day...I was on Fentanyl and Morphine also but quit those cold Turkey Saturday...I have Severe Panic Attacks at night..Paralyzing..that turns into Severe Depression during the day...Is this normal for Withdrawal?...I don't mind the physical aspects...it's the Anxiety and Depression that are terrifying me. Even though I've been prescribed these pain pills for a fractured back...
Avatar m tn I have another question for you regarding morphine withdrawal. I am now scheduled for a relatively minor but painful surgery (they tell me) in my abdomen to repair 1 or maybe 2 hernias that I got when I had ascites 4 years ago. My abdomen basically extended until it burst in 1 or 2 places. I almost died. Without going into a lot of detail...this happened because I had cirrhosis of the liver. Why I had cirrhosis nobody knows....I certainly didn't drink THAT much..but whatever...
Avatar m tn Aloha To all who were kind enough to answer my question on withdrawal from morphine, I want to thank you for your help. I have gotten some help from an acupuncture doctor and with his help I was able to not have any withdrawal symptoms at all. This is something any one ging through drug withrawals should consider since it is painless and works.
Avatar f tn Why is it when I withdraw, which just happens between pill scripts, that I literally twitch. Like my arm will just jerk? I experienced restless leg syndrome &\assume that's all related. That, the extreme freezing cold I feel & the depression are just deal breakers. I know that's no way to think but like now I'm down to 24 opanas. Well my next script is mother in laws morphine on the 12th!!!!! So I'll be in wds long before then. This vicious cycle just ***** ***!!!!!
Avatar f tn When I went through vicodin withdrawal I upped the dosage to 10mg, which was my script max. I have had withdrawal symptoms galore. I got body jerks, metallic taste, no memory, disorientation, depression, anxiety, difficulty swallowing, breathing difficulty, panic attacks, vertigo, high to low BP... on and on. My dreams were vivid. The very slow taper and OTC drugs helped with the insomnia. Are you back on Lunesta?
Avatar f tn Should liquid morphine and fentanyl patches be withdrawn slowly, I am also on psychiatric medication as I suffer from manic depression. I am very concerned that the abrupt stopping of theese medications may bring on a severe depression. Should theese medications be gradually taken away with reducing dosage over a period of time?
Avatar n tn and compared to the WDs from plain morphine, Ultram WDs are 5x worse at least. Whereas the severe depression from standard opiates withdrawal hits within a few days of stopping, with Tramadol it hits almost immediately. Look at Erowid.org for horror stories of Ultram WD. But yes, they will lessen Vicodin/codeine WDs.... as Ultram is a synthetic opiate. It may be useful in a VERY short-term taper, but even then, I highly recommend against it.
1157044 tn?1318300124 I know this is an addiction/substance abuse forum but that seemed to be the best place for me to find answers to the morphine withdrawal issues or potential morphine withdrawal issues I am facing now. And this is being honest too by the way.
1271743 tn?1320892461 If you are taking Morphine for a couple of months and the doctor changes you to Methadone, will the Methadone prevent withdrawal symptoms normally experienced from stopping the Morphine?
Avatar f tn I have 21 days clean from hydrocodone and morphine drops. I am still having symptoms lie runs and stomack cramps, lethargy and depression. All is less than it was but still keeping me awake at night and tired in the day. I am 82 and copd. Have scoliosis also. Using asprin and tylenol for my pain. any info is apprecited. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Well it's been 22 hrs since I've taken anything for pain. I was on OpanaER and Morphine tabs. I took this to withdrawl off Oxycodone 90mgs evry 4hrs and Dilaude 16 mg evry 4hrs. I took them for 1 week. I cried, screamed and I was so emotional. Now I'm getting off the opana and morphine. I got cloidine, Xanax, something for my stomach, Soma for the spasms in ur muscle, and something for sleep. So far so good. You can feel the withdrawls even with the opana and morphine but not as bad.
Avatar n tn Minor degrees of respiratory depression may be detected following standard doses of morphine, but this is not clinically important. With higher doses or in frail patients, the respiratory rate decreases, the patient becomes increasingly sedated, and the pupils very small. One can stop breathing if the respirtory depression is great enough. The pharmacy made an error. They doubled the dose that the physician prescribed.
Avatar n tn Finally was able to take the medicine and all of the withdrawal symptoms disappeared! So from my experience, Morphine withdrawal was way worse than the Tramadol withdrawal. Unfortunately, many doctors prescribe this medication and say it is not addicting and you can't get dependant on it.
Avatar f tn Yes, when you stop your opiate (thought it was Perc not Morphine) you will be in full withdrawal within 36 hours if you choose to go cold turkey. If you picked up the script of Percs today chances are you will take them more than not. I had to completely run them out, tell my doctor I wanted off and wanted no more scripts, and cut off my "family" suppliers also. Question: if your pain is like you describe how do you plan to deal with it? I'm in the same boat. DDD.
Avatar m tn Hello I am taking 2 morphine long lasting 60mg of morphine for neuropathic pain. But I was chewing it to get a better result and some days I took 3. I am not proud of this but this is my life so far. Now I have been given another drug divoprolex and it helps with the pain a great deal. I wanted to ask anyone if you have ever heard of leg pain associated with tablets of morphine, I woke up at night and my legs felt like they were on fire.
Avatar f tn The dose of opioids that you were taking is actually quite low compared to the average opioid addict, but opioid withdrawal is miserable even from lower doses. To compare, Brett Favre supposedly took about 70 vicodin tablets per day during his period of active opioid dependence. Withdrawal peaks at 4-6 days, but the tail end can last for weeks.
