Yes although dosage and frequency of usage does matter. In my experience morphine, high dosage oxycontin and methadone are the most effective (and the most addicting) pain killers.

Im on hour 36 of my heroin withdrawal and i was going to take a smaller doseage or morphine sulfate maybe 30 mgs but i need to know if it will restart my withdrawal symptoms or not?

do your research on the xanax. it can be hell on earth if you let that drug get away from you. i don't say that to scare you...only to warn you that it is usually not intended for daily usage as you would use a preventative. i suppose it's like if you had a sore leg from doing a lot of work during the day. you probably wouldn't want to take morphine for it. on the other hand, if you broke your leg and the bone was sticking out...you'd want morphine.

there certainly are other meds out there,both narcotic and non-narcotic for pain issues. IF they were to increase your morphine,my guess is they would gradually do this. Express to your doctor your concerns...I too used to be on MS Contin-hated it (made me mean). The purpose of pain pills is to not alleviate your pain 100%-docotrs prefer that your pain actually be at abput a 4-5 out of 10 when taking the meds. I would definately talk with your doctor about your fears and your goals.

45PM. I have been given 60 MG morphine sulfate and 8 MG hydromorphone. I am starting to hurt through my chest and legs and hands. I am starting to have some sweats. As far as I'm aware, this medication is fine unless you have very low blood pressure. It's very similar to morphine and good for pain control. The main issue with this medication is mixing with Alcohol, that's a definite no no, very dangerous. It can be addictive with long term usage, but I'm sure after surgery the dosage will be reduced and stopped altogether over a relatively short period of time.

Well, first of all i know what i would tell your husband. Who cares what he wants or doesn't like. Look at the mess you are in. Sounds like you need to go and speak with a doctor and explain that you want to get off the morphine. Don't forget to tell him about this husband also who is obviously causing you alot of anxiety.

I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant. Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.

The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................

Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.
