I was on morphine SR 60mg twice a day for years and my doctor switched me to fentanyl 25 patch. I ended up with severe withdrawal and went back to the morphine for a week until my next appt where he put me on the 50 patch. Still I am going through withdrawals. My pharmacist says I can't be but I know 100% that's what is happening. Anyone else deal with this?
i have been on morphine sulfate slow release 60mg 3times daily for 7 years. now i need surgery but cant get it until i can get off the morphine. i also take 15mg 6 times daily and cant get my doc to take me off. i need a safe wayto get off this terrible drug but he only says i need it and wont help me . does anyone know of a doc who can help me. i am desperate.
About 1 month ago my pain management doctor increased my dosage of morphine sulfate from 10 gm to 30 mg (1 every 12 hours). Shortly after I began taking the 30mg morphine sulfate, I started to develop a slight rash. Over the last week, the rash has become much worse and a real problem. I've been taking over the counter benadryl tabs to get some relief from the rash which is helping a little to relief the itching and rash.

I have the multi level disc desease, both back and neck pain. I have been on several pain meds, shots, etc.. from the pain guys. I now take morphine sulfate 30mg time released 2 in 24hr period.
I also have the percocets for break thru. I was up too 100mg morphine suf, like above. Over time I started getting dry mouth to the point of driving me mad. I been on meds for this for years, but the 100mg finally was working good for the pain.
I am in pain management and have been for years. I am on 400 mgs of morphine sulfate every 6 hrs and 15 mgs of Hydromirphone as needed for break through pain which is about 4 to 5 a day.
My taper has been a fast one. I went from 400 mgs of MS a day to 200 for a week and now two days ago 60 mgs in the morning ONLY and taking the Hydromorphone every 4 hours.
Is MS the same as the Hydromorphone? From what I read it is, one is long acting and the other is short.
Are you experiencing any reaction or similar side effects with the long acting Morphine (Kadian)? As Dmoonchild said Kadian IS Morphine. There are several brand names for MS (Morphine Sulfate)..... but in the end they are all basically the same or similar chemical structure.
Your previous reaction may have been related to other factors, such as the type of Morphine, any other medications you were being prescribed or simply your systems reaction at the specific time.
today i saw a pain mngmt dr, he took me off hydrocodone 7.7/500mg, and tramadol 50mg, i was allowed 4 vicodins a day and up to 8 tramadol.
i have an appt to see him next thursday to, He put me on morphine sulfate IR 1m mg, 1 tab 2x's a day and morphine sulfate 30 mg CR 1 tab 2x's a day, I hope i get better and longer relief.
My question will these new meds help any thoughts?
My wife, who takes morphine sulfate ER and oxycodone IR for chronic pain. She does a urine test every month. For the first time in several years, 10+, her results showed a positive result for codeine, 107 ng/mL. I found an article that said a small amount of codeine may show up in patients taking high doses of morphine due to possible impurities in manufacturing. Is this correct? Has anyone else run in to this??
I am comming off morphine sulfate - I still have 30 pills left - 20 of the 15mg IR and 10 of the 30mg ER - I just want to be off this drug and the withdrawals are more than I can stand. I've been taking Morphine Sulfate 15mg. slow release tablets for 2 weeks. The back pain I had is gone and I want to stop taking the Morphine. Is it safe to stop or do I have to wean off of it? I also have the quick release 15mg. of Morphine which I haven't had to use. Will I have some sore of reaction if I stop cold turkey?
hi folks have a some questions about changing pain meds. My mother who has cronic back and shoulder pain is being taken off of fentanyl 100mcg patch and 7.5/500mg and being put on morphine 60mg 2x daily and then morphine sulfate 15mg every 4 hours for breakthough pain. What I'm wondering is there going to be withdrawl or is the morphine going to have enough of the same stuff in it. If not what kind of withdrawl systems will there be to watch for.
s hard to tell which one is making you feel so unmotivated. I take Morphine Sulfate ER with 10mg percocet breakthrough and the only side effects I have are nightmares and constipation.
I eat really healthy. I eat oatmeal twice a day with chia seeds and I try and bike a few minutes a day. This gives me more energy then I can deal with. What you eat and your activity level can really impact the energy you have through out the day.

no, hydrocodone is vicodin. Morphine sulfate is the active ingredient in morphine. If you are worried about a possible reaction to the medication, I would speak to your local pharmacists. I'm not sure if hydrocodone and morphine are in the same family of drugs. I know vicodin and percocet are in a similar family (due to codine), but morphine is much different. refer to this website.

I wouldn't give him the morphine. It could constrict his breathing. Instead, take him to a vet. He will need pain killers specially for dogs, such as Metacam, or Rimadyl or something else perhaps. He will also need his condition fully checked out.
I went to a knew Dr yesterday & he put me on Opana ER 10mg 2x a day & Morphine Sulfate IR 15mg 3x a day for break thru as needed. I've been on Roxicodone 30mg 6x a day & Norflex 100mg 2x a day prior to this appt yesterday. From what I've read on here the Opana ER is a good pain reliever after it gets into your system in approx 4-5 days so I'm hoping that is true bc so far I've not had any relief but I'm gonna give it a few more days.
Im on hour 36 of my heroin withdrawal and i was going to take a smaller doseage or morphine sulfate maybe 30 mgs but i need to know if it will restart my withdrawal symptoms or not?
