My husband is addicted to Morphine he is taking Morphine Sulfate Extended Release 60 mg tablets. He was melting them down and injecting with a needle. He has been clean for 10 days. Any one know anything specific about this? What other drugs are similar to this? Anything you may know...

can you take percet with morphine sulfate er 30mg? in other words can you mix the two together?

By the way, neither oxycodone 10/325 or morphine sulfate 15mg are extended relief or ER medications. OxyContin or MSContin are both 12 hour, extended relief formulations of oxycodone and ms, respectively. Perhaps you mean that you're using 15mg MSContin twice a day, with the Percocet 10/325 as needed for breakthrough pain? If you are unclear, read the labels. If you are still confused, ask your doctor.

My wife, who takes morphine sulfate ER and oxycodone IR for chronic pain. She does a urine test every month. For the first time in several years, 10+, her results showed a positive result for codeine, 107 ng/mL. I found an article that said a small amount of codeine may show up in patients taking high doses of morphine due to possible impurities in manufacturing. Is this correct? Has anyone else run in to this??

I am comming off morphine sulfate - I still have 30 pills left - 20 of the 15mg IR and 10 of the 30mg ER - I just want to be off this drug and the withdrawals are more than I can stand. I have been taking them for almost 2 yrs now and want to stop. I am looking for any advice to help me with deal with withdrawals.

I am in pain management and have been for years. I am on 400 mgs of morphine sulfate every 6 hrs and 15 mgs of Hydromirphone as needed for break through pain which is about 4 to 5 a day. My taper has been a fast one. I went from 400 mgs of MS a day to 200 for a week and now two days ago 60 mgs in the morning ONLY and taking the Hydromorphone every 4 hours. Is MS the same as the Hydromorphone? From what I read it is, one is long acting and the other is short.

I went to a knew Dr yesterday & he put me on Opana ER 10mg 2x a day & Morphine Sulfate IR 15mg 3x a day for break thru as needed. I've been on Roxicodone 30mg 6x a day & Norflex 100mg 2x a day prior to this appt yesterday. From what I've read on here the Opana ER is a good pain reliever after it gets into your system in approx 4-5 days so I'm hoping that is true bc so far I've not had any relief but I'm gonna give it a few more days.

i have been on morphine sulfate slow release 60mg 3times daily for 7 years. now i need surgery but cant get it until i can get off the morphine. i also take 15mg 6 times daily and cant get my doc to take me off. i need a safe wayto get off this terrible drug but he only says i need it and wont help me . does anyone know of a doc who can help me. i am desperate.

About 1 month ago my pain management doctor increased my dosage of morphine sulfate from 10 gm to 30 mg (1 every 12 hours). Shortly after I began taking the 30mg morphine sulfate, I started to develop a slight rash. Over the last week, the rash has become much worse and a real problem. I've been taking over the counter benadryl tabs to get some relief from the rash which is helping a little to relief the itching and rash.

I got some m.s. from someone, and never asked how much was "safe", though, i do realize taking it at all is unsafe unless directed by a doctor. i took this amount yesterday, within a 2 hr period. lastnight i vomitted a lot, was too scared to go to the hospital (another stupid move i know) if i feel good, should i still go to the hospital?

Hey everyone....I am weening off of Ultram and My doctor switched me over to MS contin ER. (Morphine Sulfate extended release.) Does anyone know anything about this drug? I've never even heard of it before. I switched over from the Ultam to the MS and I did not get any withdrawals. Now my doc is slowly decreasing my dose of MS. Any info on this med would really, really be appreciated. Thanks!!!

I am asking because my Dr is switching me from Roxi to MS Contin and all I see is the ER and I am already taking Morphine Sulfate ER 100mg. The Roxi was for break through pain...is there an instant release? Thank you!!

I would make sure that this last prescription wasn't accidentally filled with the instant release and not the ER version... And I think you blended two med names with Oxycontin MS...Oxycontin is a med all by itself..It is Oxycodone in Continuous formula...hence the "contin"....MS usually stands for Morphine Sulfate and comes in both IR (immediate release) or ER (extended release formulas)... If it is a 12 hour version...then usually most Drs. are ok with dosing it every 8 hours..

Hi, I am new to this website but I recently went to my pain management doctor and my medication was changed from 7.5 percocets 4xday to 15mg of morphine sulfate er 3xday. However, I find the morphine is not as effective in helping me with my pain level and the side affects from the morphine are severe headache, stomache upset, tired then restless at times, eyesight affected, and just don't feel good or like me.

s hard to tell which one is making you feel so unmotivated. I take Morphine Sulfate ER with 10mg percocet breakthrough and the only side effects I have are nightmares and constipation. I eat really healthy. I eat oatmeal twice a day with chia seeds and I try and bike a few minutes a day. This gives me more energy then I can deal with. What you eat and your activity level can really impact the energy you have through out the day.

Hi, I hurt myself over 3 years ago and have never been really diagnosed. I was given tramadol, still on and the last 3 months morphine sulfate er. It did help a lot, but I decided I don't want to be on it. On my own, I cut the 2nd dose in half. I am also taking valium. I want the morphine out of me. Can anyone come up or knows a plan to get off of it? I tried 1/4 for the 2nd dose one day and really felt the detox and went back to 1/2. Any ideas?

Have you ever tried Oxycodone HCL (immediate release) 15mg, or 30mg tablets for breakthrough pain? I am on Morphine Sulfate and use the Oxycodone for breakthrough and it works well... until your body adapts to the oxycodone and you require an increase in the dose... that's my only hurdle with it.... good luck....

Are you experiencing any reaction or similar side effects with the long acting Morphine (Kadian)? As Dmoonchild said Kadian IS Morphine. There are several brand names for MS (Morphine Sulfate)..... but in the end they are all basically the same or similar chemical structure. Your previous reaction may have been related to other factors, such as the type of Morphine, any other medications you were being prescribed or simply your systems reaction at the specific time.

today i saw a pain mngmt dr, he took me off hydrocodone 7.7/500mg, and tramadol 50mg, i was allowed 4 vicodins a day and up to 8 tramadol. i have an appt to see him next thursday to, He put me on morphine sulfate IR 1m mg, 1 tab 2x's a day and morphine sulfate 30 mg CR 1 tab 2x's a day, I hope i get better and longer relief. My question will these new meds help any thoughts?

The medical oncologist gave me morphine sulfate ER 15mg yesterday because percocet wasn't working enough anymore, but the morphine isn't so great either. After 8 hours I had to take a norco and there is still pain enough to keep me from thinking about anything else. I can only take the morphine every 12 hours. Does it build up effectiveness, or is this as good as it's going to get? Will a stronger pill last longer? I have one lesion, Stage 2. It really hurts.

I am currently prescribed morphine sulfate 30 mg and morphine 100 mg. I recently took a drug test where Oxymorephone showed up in my urine test. Does either of these pills contain the components of oxymorphone or opana? Any help will be appreciated!

I found a new primary care physician today and he switched me from Morphine Sulfate ER to Opana ER at a MUCH stronger dose...if you see my other post, I am a little afraid to take it tomorrow morning because the dose is much higher than my current total dose of morphine sulfate ER plus percocet. Have you tried Opana or Opana ER? It is oxymorphone. I plan to take my first dose tomorrow morning and I'll let you know how well it works for me.

My PCP gave me three referrals today and I told him that the current pain meds are working but I consistently have breakthrough pain 3 times a day requiring me to take percocet 3x a day along with the Morphine Sulfate ER. I told him that I was hoping to not have breakthrough pain EVERY single day. I also told him that part of the reason is due to the fact that the Morphine ER doesn't last 12 hours, but instead starts fizzling out after 6 hours and it is completely gone after 8 hours.
