Avatar f tn Hey everyone! I just joined & have a few questions. I am 38 yrs old & have been in pain management for 10+ yrs now due to a MVA. I recently started to have trouble with my liver (no hep c) anyway I currently take morphine 30mg 3 times a day & 30 mg MSIR 3 times a day or as needed.
Avatar n tn Also, I have taken up to 4 sleeping pills, with no results? It seems that any type of medication that I take in pill form does not work, but anything injected through an IV works like a charm. Can anyone tell me why????
4184816 tn?1350780940 Bring in the remaining morphine pills when you see him if he switches your prescription. I was told that Morphine is one of the less expensive meds. Maybe this is why they decided to try you on this med. This way they can see what you have taken and what you have left. personally it didn't work for me and it made me very ill. I took the meds to my doc and they wrote a different prescription for me. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn My Mom has serious back pain and is prescribed 60 15 mg morphine pills and 30 100 mg morphine pills each month yet she still suffers from chronic back pain. A Nurse told me she would probably be better off taking 2 20 mg pills and 1 80 mg pill of oxycontin each day instead. Is oxycontin a more effective pain reliever than morphine? My Mom isn't an addict and does not abuse them beyond what is prescribed to her. Please advise me.
Avatar m tn dont take anymore morphine or anything else in that class, thats only putting off the w/ds....
Avatar n tn Although 12 hrs have passed, but still clinical examination from a doctor is mandatory to rule out any morphine overdose. Morphine overdose occurs when a person intentionally or accidentally takes too much of the medicine. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn i am on very high doses of morphine, oramorph, tramadol, dihydrocodeine, baclofen, arthrotec & some paracetamol for a bad back. I also have osteoporosis & take calcium tablets for this too. This has gone on for 5 years since i fell off the back of my old works truck. Oh & 2 lots of pills for high blood pressure.
Avatar f tn t take morphine or dilaudid. As i have to be careful with new pain medicine and because of my allergies to the current pain meds (hydrocodone, morphine, dilaudid) do you have any other suggestion that I could suggest? I know I can take Demerol pills because I had to take them 2 years ago for surgery. Would that be a good medicine to discuss with my doctor or is the Demerol a little too strong for a knew surgery? Thank you in advance for your help. Hope everyone has a blessed Sunday!
648944 tn?1241469694 The effectiveness or non-effectiveness for you (or anyone) is simply your systems response to the drug. So the new medication just is not staying in your system as long as the morphine stayed. You may want to give it some time but its effectiveness may not change. I hope this has been helpful. Please feel free to share with us how you are doing. I will look forward to your input.
Avatar n tn I'm 14 weeks pregnant. Second baby. Iv had alot of gallbladder attacks at least 3 a week. They can't take it out apparently so I'm stuck suffering until I have the baby. The doctors give me morphine and gravol. Has any other moms gone thru this and is everything okay with the baby?
Avatar f tn Hi, I am new to this website but I recently went to my pain management doctor and my medication was changed from 7.5 percocets 4xday to 15mg of morphine sulfate er 3xday. However, I find the morphine is not as effective in helping me with my pain level and the side affects from the morphine are severe headache, stomache upset, tired then restless at times, eyesight affected, and just don't feel good or like me.
760862 tn?1243097304 This would help in reducing the sheer quantity of pills taken and also move you to making greater use of long-acting morphine as opposed to short-acting oxycodone pills. My extremely short experience with oxycodone is that it acts quickly and then fades quickly - hardly the best profile for maintaining a stable level of pain control during the day. Personally, I have been a believer in using pain medication to get pain levels down as low as is possible to maintain.
659218 tn?1225496912 So my pain management doc wants to do a trial morphine pump bc nothing else is really working. Nothing, I have tried just about everything.....fentynal patch, etc. I am currently on Lortab, Soma, xanex, neurotin and ambeim cr 12.5, yes, the pain is 24/7 so I am asking for adcice on the pump! Plzzzzzzzzz all who are on it plzzzzzzz advise! Thank you so much. PS. I am sick of all the pills!
Avatar f tn I went to the drs today and explained that the oxy 15s I was prescribed were not working as well as the 10/325s I was on so my dr. gives me morphine 30 mgs I have taken a few they dont seem very strong either. I was told I was not allowed to switch for a while. I will have to just make them work. will they start working better in a while or am I just stuck on then?
Avatar f tn Also what pain medication should we give her now that morphine is not an option. Please help.
1312592 tn?1273756934 After I had an epideral for my nerve pain, my doctor started perscribing me less morphine and wants to start me on sleeping pills so I sleep through the night (my tendonitis wakes me up in tears) I'll be honest I am terrified of getting on sleeping pills, I don't want to take them. But I don't want to take less morphine either.
1187071 tn?1279369698 Man it has been a long week. Last week I stopped all my meds cause I was in so much pain from swelling and the dr called and told me to stop all meds. I was on Embeda 2 times a day and gsbspentin 2 pills 3 times a day. The Embeda wasn't working at all so I flushed them. It is a pill that has morphine in it and another med to make you not feel the high of the morphine and not get addicted to it. Well so I thought.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I have been taking morphine IR 30 mg 3 pills 3 times a day for about 5 years and extended relief morphine 100 mg. twice a day. My primary dr. Has been concerned about my stomach and liver. She's been wanting me to lower dose for a while. Was in hospital dec.3 for stomach issues and they gave me 2 30 mg. morphine twice a day and 2mg dilaudid twice a day. That seemed ok but was in hospital. Well when I went to see primary dr.
Avatar m tn I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. I certainly would not want him on oxycontin or fentanyl. Is Opana ER any better? Need advice from doctor preferably or someone who has an idea what they are talking about regarding this matter.
Avatar n tn I have been taking morphine tablet form about 30mg a day for about a year. Also take very high doses of other weak opioids and some valium daily. I have severe chronic pain. However I haven't increased the dose of morphine by more than 5mg since I started and get side effects when I take too much. I believe I can stop when the pain stops. So am I addicted? I don't feel addicted and don't crave it, just need it when I am in pain, regularly and every day.
Avatar f tn s a strong opiate (oxymorphone) the only thing i can think of is to slowly take less and less of the medication, or something weaker like morphine pills, methadone. your doctor can help.
