dont take anymore morphine or anything else in that class, thats only putting off the w/ds....

Although 12 hrs have passed,but still clinical examination from a doctor is mandatory to rule out any morphine overdose. Morphine overdose occurs when a person intentionally or accidentally takes too much of the medicine. I hope that helps. i am on very high doses of morphine, oramorph, tramadol, dihydrocodeine, baclofen, arthrotec & some paracetamol for a bad back. I also have osteoporosis & take calcium tablets for this too. This has gone on for 5 years since i fell off the back of my old works truck. Oh & 2 lots of pills for high blood pressure.

My husband takes morphine pills and if he does not wash his hands after taking them, if he touches anything in the house can it be passed on to anyone if they touch what he has touch? and can they have a bad urine test?

Hey everyone! I just joined & have a few questions. I am 38 yrs old & have been in pain management for 10+ yrs now due to a MVA. I recently started to have trouble with my liver (no hep c) anyway I currently take morphine 30mg 3 times a day & 30 mg MSIR 3 times a day or as needed.

I was on those for about a year. I just cold turkey-ed them. I didn't have too much trouble at all, the yawning, watery eyes, RLS, bit of the craps, but it wasn't too bad like oxy wd's. I then went on fentynol for a few years, and just ct'd them as well. I didn't really have much withdrawal symptoms from those either, but I slept for three days, so I probably slept through them, LoL!.

s you will face, cause it seems like everyone has a little bit different stuff going on but, i am on a high dose of morphine and recently ran out of my pills and i am not kidding you when i say that you will feel like ****. i actually thought i was gonna die and that was just day 2. thank god i got my grubby's on some from my doc but, i didn't know what i was gonna do. please take care and maybe talk to your doctor about it before you do it.

i advise not to break the morphine pills in half--what kind of morphine are they?

I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. I certainly would not want him on oxycontin or fentanyl. Is Opana ER any better? Need advice from doctor preferably or someone who has an idea what they are talking about regarding this matter.

Bring in the remaining morphine pills when you see him if he switches your prescription. I was told that Morphine is one of the less expensive meds. Maybe this is why they decided to try you on this med. This way they can see what you have taken and what you have left. personally it didn't work for me and it made me very ill. I took the meds to my doc and they wrote a different prescription for me. Good luck to you!

I have never taken moprhine pills or anything so i am wondering what everyones perspective is about it? What would happen if i got my hands on a few morphine pills and took them while i went cold turkey off the oxys? i am leaning more towards just weaning myself off the oxys but it is easier said than done. so let me have everyones perspective on that thanks everyone.

My husband is addicted to Morphine. I have never done any type of drug and I really don't know what to do to help. Every time I think I know what is going on I find out something else he has lied about. At first it was just taking the pills, then it was crushing the pills. Now I'm finding needles and spoons everywhere. He claims that he gets the pills down to liquid form and puts them in the needle and squirts it in his mouth. I just don't believe him anymore.

He is now taking 60 morphine(30mg pills) and 90 vicodin(500mg pills) on a monthly basis. Sometimes he runs out and can't even make it 30 days. His doctor (VA clinic) continues to prescribe both along with sleeping pills and anti-depressants. If you ask me - it's overkill for sure! He is angry all the time and has frequent outbursts of physical anger. He is absolutely miserable to be around.

i would get a 2nd opinion especially since it got out of bed and up moving around there by Improving your quality of life, that alone besides the fact that your have chronic disabling pain should be enough for any DOC to keep you on morphine, im in the same boat as i have been on morphine for 5 years now without it im bed ridden, i dont like taking pills and hate the fact that im addicted to morphine, but ive never abused it, if anything i whind up with extra pills come refill time, But yeah If

t always require 4 hydro pills (that sometimes you only take 2!). So, which is it? Is your 4 pills not enough? And you are wanting to take more? If so, why are you only taking 2 pills? Conversely, if you are finding you usually only need 2 pills, then why is your doctor saying "4 pills is too much," if all you're needing is 2? See what I mean? Something doesn't make sense. Have you been not counting them too well and running out early?

They're not going to give you morphine in the hospital!!! If you go to an inpatient detox, they'll give you things to help ease withdrawals and they'll monitor your blood pressure and make sure you're hydrated, but no one is going to give you IV narcotics or narcotics in pill form. It doesn't solve the problem. You need to decide what you're going to do and make a plan. YOu can go inpatient to detox; you can go CT at home, or you can taper at home.

I ran out of my refill of 10mg hydrocodones early (as usualy) and found about 20 pills of 30mg morphine extended release. I made those last for a week...and when I saw I had 2 left I decided I would quit again. I took the last 2 at night (wanting that "one last high/one last time" that I've had dozens of times already) and was so busy the next day I didn't have time to think about buying more or feeling the withdrawal symptoms.

yes im trying to quit its just that they say that morphine lastes longer and it is alot cheaper as i have no choice

Thanks to all who took the time to post. To Cathy, I wrote how much I was taking. I was given 15mgs 2x a day. I know you aren't suposed to cut the pills but with such little morphine, it doesn't make a difference. My stomache is not that swelled, but I noticed since I had been so thin that it looked bigger since the last month or 2 and I have been on the morphine about 3 months.

I have become physically dependent on MS Contin which is the same type of med as oxycontin only Morphine is the narcotic instead of oxcycondone. I was prescribed this as a pain control medication for 2 years at which time they diagnosed my condition which required surgery. After surgery I now feel I don't need this strong pain med any longer and my other pain can be handled by a weaker pain med like percocet.

So my pain management doc wants to do a trial morphine pump bc nothing else is really working. Nothing, I have tried just about everything.....fentynal patch, etc. I am currently on Lortab, Soma, xanex, neurotin and ambeim cr 12.5, yes, the pain is 24/7 so I am asking for adcice on the pump! The methadone pills we have here,are 10 mg,but they are quit small,so its only easy cut them in quarters,anything less,would be too small.The morphine pills are easier to manage,they are 100mg extended release,with little granules(like beads)inside. I want now to start tapering the methadone first. Which one is better for w/d,xanax or valium?

In between the hydro and morphine I took no break. Now I decided if I take 3 tabs a day and get off the morphine and taper off the hydro I might make it without a lot of pain. This may not seem like much of an addiction but to me, I have no business with the morphine and the year of 8 hydros a day. So it changed my way of life. I have pancreas trouble and there is no doctor to help. I am open to any and all suggestions.

and or opinions on how to switch from 180 mg of methadone per day (60mg / 8 hr) to morphine.....my doctor retired and no pain clinics will do that much methadone.....the new pain clinic wants me to take (30 mg of long acting morphine) with (10 mg of methadone) every 8 hrs.....(30 mg methadone total per day)...(90 mg morphine total per day)....the problem is getting down to 30 mg of methadone...been on at least 100 mg of methadone for 25 years ...

What makes you think the capsules won't give you "the bad mood changes"? If it's an ingredient you already know to be in the pills and not the capsules then go for it. otherwise I'd maybe try something other than oxycodone. there are plenty of alternatives.

Federal law prohibits the transfer of morphine to any person other than the patient for whom it was prescribed. Generic morphine sustained release tablets are available and capsules are not available.

The pharmacist suggested roxicodone but dr said I would have to take 13 pills a day to get close to same 400 mg. Then was going to put me on morphine er but those have the same additives as the others and may have same problem digesting so he put me on morphine sulfate 30 mg. three times a day and had figured 2 roxicodone 4 times a day but decided he needed to do a trial to see if I even could take the morphine sulfate. He ordered just morphine sulfate 30 three times a day as a trial.

You don't need to "wean". Worst case you'll feel crummy for a few days and possibly get cramps and muscle pain.
