Avatar m tn I just have been reading questions on how to get off of the patches, I have severe lower back pain and was on morphine last year but also have uc and the morphine was terrible on my stomach. Anyways Is there anyway to get off the patches slowly without severe withdrawals? I take 75mcg, all the answers I read were from 2011-2010 ect.. Has anyone found any new info or way to do it? Thanks you for any advice.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if Fentynal patches contain even the slightest amount of morphine in them. A friend of mine is dealing with a terminal illness along with terrible pain. They gave him Fentynal patches(heavey guns) and he claims that someone said that they contain just a small amout of Morphine. He has had some eally bad experiences with Morphine and he is scared to use the patch. I told him I would try to ask my new friends on MedHelp first. Does anyone out there have a clue if this is true?
Avatar m tn I'm 5 wks off methadone. Doctor put me on morphine, then raised it, then patches. Now the patches are not staying on. I'm having to replace them and I'm hurting in my back (had 2 back surgeries) and so sick. I think it's side effects from patches. Should I continue wearing them?
1345254 tn?1325918041 Fentanyl patches are 80-100 times stronger than morphine. You MUST be opioid tolerant to use the Fentanyl patches. Opioid tolerant means taking at least 60 mg of morphine daily for 2 weeks or more. It is recommended that opioids are started on the lowest dose required to effectively control the pain. As tolerance develops, naturally more opioid is required to achieve the same amount of pain relief.
Avatar f tn IR morphine just 3 a day and 2 dilaudid a day. I also wear fentanyl patches 100 mcg/h. And 50mcg/h. Change every 72 hrs. Ok with me changing the morphine will it put me into withdrawals? Please help answer!
Avatar n tn She has been to the doctors in the uk and he has put her on morphine patches. This has been 3 years now, and not once has she been offered a scan to see if there is anything wrong with her back or whatever. Nothing!. Im very concered as she is very sick. Last time i was in the uk her legs went from underneath her 4 times. No drink, just morphine. She has lost weight, she is not herself . She is depressed. And being she is 54, she looks like she's 70.
Avatar f tn ve tried the bulk of them, morphine ER, morphine IR, Diluadid, Tylenol 3, oxycodone, OxyContin, Vicodin and probably more. Are you looking for a long-acting or a short-acting medication? Ultimately, your doctor knows your condition best and is the best person for you to talk with about this. Good luck, and I hope you let us know how things turn out.
Avatar m tn 400mcg/hr is the equivalent of 960mg of oral morphine!!! (a 50mcg patch is equivalent to 120mg of morphine). That is truly an astronomical dose!!! Tapering from fentanyl patches is difficult as they cant easily but reduced in small increments. I woukd suggest trying to taper slowly to about 100mcg (they make a 12mcg patch for tapering purposes) then switch to an oral medication and taper from that.
Avatar f tn I am certain the pain is connected to the lymph node. Sounds like the Lung CA is the primary that spread to the lymph nodes. His is pain controlled on the current medications prescribed?
906738 tn?1251010478 I am having such a time keeping my patches on, I am on 50mg or whatever its considered...and breakthrough I take Norco 7.5. up to 3 pills a day. What can I replace the patch with? I go to the doctors Wednesday to go over this problem and want to be prepared knowing what I should ask for. Thanks for any help.
Avatar m tn I was on morphine SR 60mg twice a day for years and my doctor switched me to fentanyl 25 patch. I ended up with severe withdrawal and went back to the morphine for a week until my next appt where he put me on the 50 patch. Still I am going through withdrawals. My pharmacist says I can't be but I know 100% that's what is happening. Anyone else deal with this?
Avatar f tn When I started I was on 125mcg Fentynal patches every 72 hours and Morphine Sulphate 30mg 1x per day. 30mg was too much for me at once so I bite it in half and take it every 12 hours unless I don't need it. I also began seeing a gentle spine care chiropractor during all this and it has changed my life! I was shocked that a "doctor" would just throw medications like Fentynal at me for years without offering me ALL possible options for recovery!
648944 tn?1241469694 than morphine. For that reason, he prescribed a dosage lower than for morphine. So far, it seems to me to have been about equally effective, possibly a bit more effective, than the morphine. The only reservation I have is that the effectiveness doesn't seem to quite last all the way through the 12 hours between the times that I take the pill. Any thoughts? Thanks!
1386676 tn?1280247305 Hello All I was wondering if anybody else out there has had any experiences of using fentanyl patches (especially uk durogesic and matrifen users that were previously on tilofyl or other brand gel based patches) that have had problems with withdrawal symptoms either from faulty patches, changeing to a different patch brand or changing over from oral morphine or other strong oral opioids like oxycodone, methadone, or dipipanone ? Which brand or type works best for you ?
Avatar m tn Trying to figure out why this new pain specialist that I went to..to get off methadone would change me to morphine instead of lower my doses of methadone. It's been awful for me. He just seems to get too upset when I tell him I can't take the morphine and he has just continued to increase it. Then put me on fentany patches. I've told him over and over I don't want to continue on the morphine. He just kept saying that this didn't make any sense.
Avatar m tn My wife has been perscribed fentanyl patches and has been told not to eat grapefruit, does this apply to all citrus fruit ie.
897990 tn?1248268956 He has been going to the methadone clinic now for about a year and is on 25mg blood pressure meds. He has recently started chewing up morphine patches as well. He always has one in his mouth and is not functioning properly at work. He is right out of it all the time,,,he has withdrawn from all activities he just sits at home and watches tv...don't think he sleeps much. I am becoming very worried about him having a heart attack or something considering the blood pressure.
614471 tn?1221179194 ive just come off fentanyl patches onto the morphine so i can taper down, my aunt who died was addicted to heroin so i know a bit about it so i just wanted to know the equivalent so i can understand roughly how much morphine im taking. thank you to anyone that can help. kind regards, carrie.
Avatar f tn Before I left the office she was kind enough to relieve my discomfort witha 10mg shot of morphine to cover the transition time. By the time I got the Rx filled an the patch on me ( that was about 4 hours ago ) most of the nice releive i got from the morphine was gone. I am now getting the creepy crawlers much like withdrawl and am very very cranky. My question is: Is 12mcg/hr of this stuff very much. The info I can get tells me its about 1/10 of a 500 vicodin an hour.
Avatar m tn Daily my mum would take, 2400mg of gabapentin, sevredol, buscopan, amitriptyline, baclofen, 100mg morphine, ondansatron, omeprozole, fluoxetine, lidocaine patches and an antibiotic for infections as she is constantly getting infections whilst being catheterised. we know that morphine would not be a good combination with cannabis oil and are maybe going to try and wing her off morphine and replace it with cannabis oil. I would really appreciate some advice. I can elaborate on anything if needed.
Avatar m tn Fentanyl can be really difficult to detox from, especially CT. The withdrawals can be more intense and last a lot longer than other opiates. It's best to taper slowly if you can. Do you have a doctor that prescribes them that can help you?
Avatar n tn ve been using a lot because I already have a high tolerance to opiates, what I wanted to know is if withdrawal symtoms of Morphine are any worse than Tramadol, because I think I may need to progress to that eventually. I have permanent nerve damage.
Avatar n tn Is it possible to come off of the morphine patch, 50 mg every 3 days I think, gradually. The person I am trying to help is about 75 years old and has been on these patches about 3 years. We got her to go down from 75 mg about 6 months ago. We want to take her to 35 mg and decrease by 12.5 mg. How often and how much should we decrease by. What do we expect to happen, and please give any advice or help. She desperately needs to get off.
Avatar m tn They reduced my hydrocodone from 180 pills a month (10mg/325) my primary Dr was prescribing as they no longer helped without taking more than prescribed ( which is why I went to pain management) they reduced me to 60 of the same pills ( Norco) but only twice a day plus a 15 Mg morphine pill which did absolutely nothinh but cause my pain to stay at a very uncomfortable level. Fyi, I hate the pain rating they ask.
