Avatar n tn Heroin is a semisynthetic opiate that by virtue of its metabolism to morphine produces a positive result on standard EIA tests. Morphine is then further metabolized to morphine-3-glucuronide and morphine-6-glucuronide before excretion (primarily via the kidneys). However, prior to its metabolism to morphine and subsequent glucuronidation, heroin is rapidly metabolized to 6-MAM.
4888612 tn?1363754833 I recently quit taking morphine after 4 years and have been having unusually high fever. It's been between 102 and 104 and almost daily. Is it possible that withdrawls could cause me to have fever as high as 104?
Avatar f tn Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.
886779 tn?1253644204 hi, morphine addiction is a tuff nut to crack, however it is the same as any opiate addiction it is possable to withdraw using an RDT or "rapid detox treatment" this works really well from morphine, i was on 30mg of morphine tablets twice daily for pain relief and had also had enough..i found out my local GP was doing this rapid detox from opiate drugs in his surgery it cost around 5 k and took one day only..
Avatar n tn The bupenorphine in suboxen will flush out the morphine in dilaudid in the opiate receptors of the brain. If you have a opiate habbit and take suboxen you can go into precipitated withdrawl from the sudden flushing of the opiate receptors. If you do not have a habit and take dilaudid and suboxen at the same time, the suboxen will beat the morphine to the receptors and completely block them from the morphine getting into them. You will not feel anything from the dilaudid.
Avatar n tn Do not listen to anything else that whomever told you morphine wasnt an opiate might have to say. Of course its an opiate. Morpheus - God of Sleep - - - Morphine - makes you nod/sleep.................get the connection? You were doing 15 percs/hydro's a day for 2 years..... and you quit 7 days ago (except for 120mg of morphine a day) but wonder why you have withdrawal symptoms? I doubt that morphine is the answer for you.
Avatar n tn Heroin breaks down into codeine and morphine. Codeine breaks down into morphine. The opiate drug tests look for codeine, morphine, and 6-acetyl-morphine. The presence of 6-acetyl-morphine is relatively conclusive of recent heroin use, but is only detectable for a few hours after use. The presence of codeine can be the result of either heroin or codeine use. The presence of morphine can be the result of the use of heroin, codeine, or morphine.
Avatar m tn It is not a good idea to take non-prescribed narcs without your doctor's knowledge. A.) It can be dangerous. B.) If/when they find out, you'll be detoxing "really" fast. C.) It will mess up your detox schedule. It sounds like your doctor is doing the right thing. When reaching higher and higher, escalating dosages of opiates, the ratio of therapeutic benefit to side effects gets worse.
Avatar f tn t think of anyone who has quit Morphine per say, but it is an opiate and most all of the members here are opiate addicts in various stages of addiction and recovery. Why exactly does you doctor want you to stop so abruptly?
Avatar m tn I started out on vicodin and moved my way up through ocs and deladid 8mg. i never liked morphine, but have recently started to insufilate it since trying to get off. i have weened my self down from 20 ten mg hydrocodone a day. 6 to 10 at once. or five 8 mg hydromorphone a day. i have weened down to 60mg of morphine a day. i take it as soon as i wake up. i am looking to take the last step. i feel like an idiot cause 2 years ago i beat it cold turkey for almost a month.
Avatar n tn I need help with a remedy for constipation that works. I undergoing chemo treatments which I know causes constipation plus I'm taking Morphine which also is extremely constipating. I've tried drinking more water, taking Miralax. Asks the pharmacist she recommended Colac. Nothing seems to help, any ideas?
Avatar f tn For the past 2 years I've been pain management. I am prescribed 30mg morphine sulfate 2x a day and 10 mg Oxycodone 4x s day which I abuse by crushing and snorting them. I was on day 3 of detoxing cold turkey praying that last night would be better with the restless leg syndrome and sleep because I think I have only slept 3 hours since I syarted. Well my question is I took 1/2 of my Oxycodone last night roughly only 2 mg. and 1/2 of morphine 15 mg. I feel sooo guilty...
Avatar n tn switching from percocet 30 mg a day to morphine sulphate er 15mg every 12.
Avatar m tn I was recently in the hospital for 10 days, I was in there for a kidney stone, and to manage the pain I was on a steady dose of morphine and toradol, for the ten days until I could get booked into a surgical suite. I have been out of the hospital for 6 days now, and I am attempting to return to work, but I am having a really hard time with my memory, I can not remember simple details from the weeks before this happened, and I can not seem to get my mind around simple tasks.
Avatar f tn I am on 15 mg morphine er every12 hours for 2 years and it does not help like it use to.My doctor said we could go on Hysingla ER for a few months than back on the morphine. The decision to do anything is up to me but I am very hesitate because I never heard of this drug,is it going to stop any withdrawals and is it even good for pain.
Avatar f tn Could anti-depressant medication show up on toxicology reports as a morphine or opiate? Thank you for any light you can shed on this tragic situation. What kinds of substances could result in a positive result comes back as morphine/opiate? Thank you.
Avatar m tn As Tuck stated theres no conversion chart as there is with opiate to opiate . Both myself an my management clinic believe in changing up every 9 to 12 months to lessen the chance of of building tolerance to any particular , but thats me and mine , some people stay on the one drug for years without problems .
Avatar f tn Second, if the source of your pain can be managed or eliminated then you can proceed with stopping the morphine. Morphine is an opiate pain killer that can be highly addictive. You should get help weaning yourself off of the drug. Coming off of the morphine will be difficult after 3 years of use. I would seek help from a doctor that specializes in drug addiction or find a pain clinic at a hospital that is experienced weaning patients off of addictive drugs.
1069644 tn?1276928863 Doc put me on 15 mg Morphine Sulphate CR, I am hoping someone here has taken it and can tell me what I can expect. I am a bit frightened to take such a heavy duty pain med. Will I get dizzy, extremely tired, will I still be able to function? Any help is appreciated.
Avatar m tn I am sorry to say morphine is an opiate just like oxy. Ypour doc was maybe thinking of tapering you off. Talk to him/her and ask what the intentions are.
Avatar m tn I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. I certainly would not want him on oxycontin or fentanyl. Is Opana ER any better? Need advice from doctor preferably or someone who has an idea what they are talking about regarding this matter.
Avatar n tn However, if he is not suicidal and has a prolonged history of morphine/opiate abuse, shows mild,if any, symptoms of intoxification and is otherwise "normal" then he should be fine. Whilst 300 mgs of morphine is considerable for someone who is opiate naive, it is relatively routine for the experienced addict. Anyways, like i said, based on the information you provided, i am left to fill the cavernous blanks with speculative assumptions and wild guesses.
Avatar f tn Who told you tapering off morphine is dangerous? Morphine is an opiate, like other pain medications. It is NOT dangerous unless there are severe underlying health conditions such as unmanaged high blood pressure or unmanaged heart conditions. Millions taper off opiates with no issues. Even in a sudden stoppage of opiates, in general, it is uncomfortable, can cause sweating, chills, diarrhea, muscle spasms, feeling flu like for 3-5 days, with day 4 and 5, feeling improvement in symptoms.
Avatar n tn no, hydrocodone is vicodin. Morphine sulfate is the active ingredient in morphine. If you are worried about a possible reaction to the medication, I would speak to your local pharmacists. I'm not sure if hydrocodone and morphine are in the same family of drugs. I know vicodin and percocet are in a similar family (due to codine), but morphine is much different. refer to this website. http://www.rxlist.com/duramorph-drug.
Avatar m tn my experience is that you don't hear too much about morphine because its harder to optain you know getting th doctors to give you morpihine doesn't happent to too many, but they love to push hydros, percs and oxys... any how.....coming off of any opiate is hard on the human body which morphine is an opiate. like goingtomakeit said.......
Avatar f tn re like an opiate virgin and in the case of my jaw I would have had relief from the morphine like any other normal person who hadn't ever abused opiates. While I don't think an easy detox would have been a good option for me, I am wondering if this wouldn't be a good idea so if I am ever in a car accident or am diagnosed with cancer I can get some relief. Whats your opinions on this? Does the idea of a terminal illness with nothing for the pain concern all of you?
Avatar f tn You use it to convert your fentanyl dosage to an equivalent morphine dose, and then find the equivalent morphine dose to oxymorphone, Generally when converting between opiates, doctors will reduce the new medication strength by a certain percentage to account for incomplete cross tolerance, which is a boost in analgesia you get from rotating from one kind of opiate to another. You can find equal analgesic tables, and apps for calculating equivalent dosing online.
