Avatar n tn A few years back a doctor ordered a neurotransmitter test on me to see what my levels were at, in hopes to help find a medication that worked for me. The doctor never talked to me about the results just said take supplements. I have since changed doctors but had recently obtained the results of my past neuro test. I was wondering if anyone knows much on how to interpret the results. I am trying to figure out a new anxiety medicine that would work best for me. My results were: Epinephrine: 5.
647120 tn?1256601651 Recently, I have been posting about my excessive morphine withdrawal symptoms and the lack of empathy from my pain manager. Ever the self-manager, I am trying to research ways to alleviate the symptoms since my pain manager won't, and I found a couple of articles that *might* fit together.
Avatar m tn s the causes of depression? Does it relate to the neurotransmitter? Diazepam is an anti-depressant? It enhances the effect of GABA by binding to the benzodiazepine site on the GABA A-receptor. After binding to the receptor, may i know what's the next mechanism? GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter? If GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, how does diazepam can cause anti-depress? I heard that it can treat seizure?
Avatar f tn At the same time, GABA, the main anti-stimulation neurotransmitter is turned down which is unhelpful for sleeping. Drugs like ambien;stillnox & lunesta act on the GABA receptors to increase the effect of this sedating neurotransmitter. Opiates also significantly decrease the onset & duration of REM sleep. This is a problem because much of the body's cell renewal takes place in REM sleep.
Avatar f tn I've been in and out of pain management for 10 years for lumbar pain. Between procedures I've been on everything from, I call it candy hydrocodone 5/500, through morphine and which I weened off as well when a procedure went temporarily well. About 3 years ago, my L5/S1 was fused. I behaved physically to heal and weened myself off of hydrocodone 10/500. A year after the fusion(my recovery/play it safe time) I was hopping in the beach water about knee high with a four year old.
1131237 tn?1260211024 My doc says at times when someone has been on Zoloft for so long the brain quits making the serotonin needed. I am on a morphine pump and that also does not help in the depession department . I have two children still at home, and one is a paraplegic.....
Avatar n tn Same thing goes for neurotransmitter tests. Some people think neurotransmitters are only happening in the brain but they in all your body and so leave trace all over your body including the kidneys and a ratio will be completed with the result to give you a pretty accurate result. The question is: do you really wanna pay 400$ to know that? Will it haves impact on deciding wether or not you will take medications?
Avatar m tn Another is that when you take a drug that takes over from the natural occuring neurotransmitter, the natural occuring neurotransmitter, goes dormant, and after a while of continued use they may even cease regenerating and die off. It takes a while for the body to begin producing them again, and restore the natural function the neurotransmitter provides. You can take multivitamins B complex vitamins especially with vitamin b6, Calcium and Magnesium.
1158557 tn?1262725929 that supply the brain with raw materials required for normal neurotransmitter production. With neurotransmitters at normal levels, cravings become fewer and weaker, thinking is clearer, and feelings are more positive and focused. Sleep improves. Crave Controlâ„¢ contains targeted amino acids specifically needed for manufacture of dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. These neurotransmitters enable "brain reward" activity.
Avatar n tn Bupropion (Wellbutrin) is a NDRI (norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake Inhibitor). Reuptake Inhibitors are thought to block the reabsorption (reuptake) of the targeted neurotransmitter by certain nerve cells in the brain. This theoretically leaves more of the neurotransmitter in the brain. If you have low levels of neurotransmitters to begin with these medications either will not work well or work for a while then stop working.
Avatar n tn All psychiatric medication which alters the level of neurotransmitter levels in your brain is bound to cause side effects when withdrawing as a result of the influence and changes of neurotransmitter levels. Geodon alters dopamine, and dopamine is responsible for movement (so your shaking hands may be the result of changes in dopamine seen through withdrawal), as well as several of the other symptoms you mention. Are you seeing a pdoc or doctor at all for your med withdrawal?
Avatar m tn Now that I have high ALT i come to think that this may be the reason of my problems as ALT somehow affects the metabolism related to amino acids that also serve as neurotransmitter in the brain. I have also been tested for viral hepatitis and none have been revealed in my blood.
Avatar f tn With my 1st born I got an epidural and I was looking into different pain relief options for this pregnancy. Any of you got morphine instead of an epidural and how was your experience?
Avatar n tn Hi yes it is normal behavior for Morphine, when you first start it your on top of the world then comes irritation and depression and even nightmares for some. How much is he on? How long? and dose he want to quit?
525732 tn?1213046071 Well, first of all i know what i would tell your husband. Who cares what he wants or doesn't like. Look at the mess you are in. Sounds like you need to go and speak with a doctor and explain that you want to get off the morphine. Don't forget to tell him about this husband also who is obviously causing you alot of anxiety.
Avatar m tn I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. I certainly would not want him on oxycontin or fentanyl. Is Opana ER any better? Need advice from doctor preferably or someone who has an idea what they are talking about regarding this matter.
654183 tn?1225309036 My husband is addicted to Morphine. I have never done any type of drug and I really don't know what to do to help. Every time I think I know what is going on I find out something else he has lied about. At first it was just taking the pills, then it was crushing the pills. Now I'm finding needles and spoons everywhere. He claims that he gets the pills down to liquid form and puts them in the needle and squirts it in his mouth. I just don't believe him anymore.
Avatar m tn I am going to go cold turkey on tuesday from 100mg morphine, been on them about 6 to 8 weeks. feeling sick when I dont take them and not able to take off time for detox and types for detox?
784419 tn?1236261756 After running the gamut of pain medications in an effort to find some relief from the constant, chronic pain I endure from spondylolisthesis, I've been prescribed morphine tablets at 10 mgs per tab. I'm still getting no relief from the pain. Should I ask my GP for a higher dosage?
Avatar f tn Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant. Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.
Avatar f tn my friend dissolved morphine tablets in hot water then injected it into her vein is this going to hurt her?
Avatar n tn The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................
