Avatar n tn More realistically he ingested a drug (narcotic) that showed up in the screen. THC (pot/weed) will not show as morphine. Trigger point injections will also not cause a positive on a drug screening. There are several narcotics that will show up as morphine. I hope my response help clear up your questions. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn Narcotic bowel syndrome (NBS) is a subset of opioid bowel dysfunction that is characterized by chronic or frequently recurring abdominal pain that worsens with continued or escalating dosages of narcotics. This syndrome is underrecognized and may be becoming more prevalent. In the United States this may be the result of increases in using narcotics for chronic nonmalignant painful disorders, and the development of maladaptive therapeutic interactions around its use.
Avatar f tn a narcotic, is a narcotic, is a narcotic??? Thanks for any hep you can shed on this. I am VERY anxious to get off everything and the taper is taking so long.
210982 tn?1280983895 Is morphine (avinza) a stronger narcotic than percocet? I have 60 mg tablets of avinza, so if I take one of those, is that like taking 6 of the percocet 10/325?
1037827 tn?1253013947 I have been taking between 90mg and 120mg of morphine sulfate a day for the last 6 years to manage lower back pain and I would like to find an effective non-narcotic alternative. Auy Suggestions?
Avatar m tn Morphine does cause nausea but I would be looking for other causes for bad stomach problems. This is for Deb who posted below. I have been on 120 mg morphine daily and norco for over 10 yrs, I have only had to use a laxative once. And that was because I had another surgery and didn't get proper exercise. Sounds like you were DOPED up if you can't remember things. If so I'm sure you weren't eating healthy or getting enough exercise. Same with your belly.
Avatar m tn Avanza (spelled Avinza) is morphine sulphate which is time released and is a narcotic so I'd assume if you were to use a lot it would be able to mess with your liver functions. Why they use a narcotic for antidepression I have no idea though but that is what it says. Avanza is the wrong spelling but it is Avinza according to drugs.com and other websites.
Avatar m tn I have had surgery on L3,4 and 5. Morphine so4ir was the only drug that gave me relief of pain. I tried other pan meds to no avail. I am also a VA patient and they have other alternatives to morphine. I was offered oxycotin but refused it.I know others that were on it and became addicted.
Avatar n tn You can do ct but if you were to wean you might want to go from the morphine to something less potent like the hydro and then taper from there if you can't handle the ct. Good luck in whatever way you go. I hope that you have a good support system It really helps.
Avatar m tn Is liquid Morphine somehow differenty to tablet-form Morphine? I am very reluctant to take the Morphine. Even so, he is the doctor I'm only a musician : ) My second question I would be grateful fro help with is that a lady I know who sufferes severe pain from degenerative bone disease is prescribed Morphine IR and Oxycodone. She tells me this combination works well for her. Does anyone have any experience of this particular combination of Morphine IR and Oxycodone?
Avatar f tn The muscles in my bicep, tricep and forearm would tense. The arm would clench, the music would stop and POP, the arm would fly up and out, as if trying to right hook an opponent who wasn't there. Every 60 seconds for two hours -- until just before 3:45 -- I'd swing away into the dark. Until the left arm got in on it. By 7:30 in the morning, I wasn't a championship boxer, I was a retarded pigeon with defective wings.
Avatar f tn Using MS Contin to come off hydro is like using vodka to quit drinking beer...morphine/MS contin..is not a highly sought drug orally as it is not the energetic high people get from hydros...it is a doc of those who use drugs iv////virtually a legal heroin but heroin is mixed with other components...heroin is a street drug....like dilaudid...orally it is not a great buzz///iv drug abusers love it tho...
Avatar n tn Tramadol is not an narcotic. It has narcotic like properties and acts like one. Yes it is addictive. I was on it for about a month. It took me about a week to get over the withdrawal.
Avatar n tn no, hydrocodone is vicodin. Morphine sulfate is the active ingredient in morphine. If you are worried about a possible reaction to the medication, I would speak to your local pharmacists. I'm not sure if hydrocodone and morphine are in the same family of drugs. I know vicodin and percocet are in a similar family (due to codine), but morphine is much different. refer to this website. http://www.rxlist.com/duramorph-drug.
Avatar m tn Granted it is not classified as a narcotic but it works much like Morphine and on the same receptors. Like morphine, tramadol binds to receptors in the brain (opioid receptors) that are important for transmitting the sensation of pain from throughout the body. As you have discovered you must taper from this medication. You cannot abruptly withdraw from Tramadol. It could cause such symptoms as anxiety, sweating, insomnia, increased pain, nausea, diarrhea and hallucinations.
Avatar m tn Hello. Can morphine cause a person to have shiver like symptoms when their dosage is wearing off? Can morphine also cause a person to feel warmer or hot and sweaty then go to feeling cold like or shiver like when u need another dosage or is this a drug addiction or all three situations? Thank you in advance and hope to hear from you IF and when u have time.
477746 tn?1254784547 Kidney stones are one of the most painful things out there....yow! Goodness...I always feel so badly when I have a patient with them...they are in agony. If you are talking about a pain med on an outpatient basis, it isn't uncommon for them to prescribe a narcotic. If you prefer to try a non-narcotic for obvious reasons...just communicate that to the doc. Inpatient...Toradol usually helps quite a bit...again, same thing...
Avatar n tn ) The Roxycodone work well for quick pain relief but do not have a long term effect, like the morphine. The Morphine worked ok with the pain, but changes my demeanor, and made me moody. So I have discontinued using the Morphine. From some research, I found that not all narcotic based meds work the same one everyone. In all honesty the lower dose of Roxycodone had a better effect then the morphine, which suprised me.
Avatar m tn Avinza is a 24 hour Morphine realease. Its like MS Contin except you only take it once a day. I cant use either (aside from the obvious reasons for addiction because they are addicting too), but they made me not be able to breathe!
654183 tn?1225309036 My husband is addicted to Morphine. I have never done any type of drug and I really don't know what to do to help. Every time I think I know what is going on I find out something else he has lied about. At first it was just taking the pills, then it was crushing the pills. Now I'm finding needles and spoons everywhere. He claims that he gets the pills down to liquid form and puts them in the needle and squirts it in his mouth. I just don't believe him anymore.
1128643 tn?1262483649 Thanks for the update. I have been wondering how you were doing. Opana is Oxymorphone. Obviously it is a narcotic pain relievers. It is similar to morphine. It is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from morphine. They both have short half lives but have a Opana is more potent than morphine. Some ppl find that a semi-synthetic has less side effects. Kadian is Morphine (morphine sulfate to be exact) in Extended-Release Capsules.
Avatar n tn are you possibly talking about Suboxone? If so, it is used for Opioid addiction. Used to treat addiction to narcotic medications. If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know.

Avatar n tn Constipation due to slow peristalsis and transit time happens with any narcotic no matter how it is administered. Like the spinal cord stimulator, a morphine pump can be an expensive proposition and not all insurance companies cover it since it's cheaper to use pills. Please post back and let us know what happens.
Avatar f tn I have been on morphine since 2007 for severe back pain. I would like to stop, I do not want to go down the "methadone" route I want to do it my self, should I just take less and less each week? I wantto see if I can manage the pain in other ways.
