They put the IV in my hand in the morning. By the evening of the same day when they gave me morphine in the IV it was excruciating. So much aching and actual pain which I found ironic as it was introduced to get rid of pain not to give more pain. This continued until the next morning (I had injections of morphine every two hours).
Hello, and thank you for your reply. I have received IV morphine on many occasions without incident, but have never received IV Benadryl. Thankfully my throat didn't actually close, though having that feeling is one I'll never forget.
I went to the ER with a severe headache, which involved near fainting and confusion. I can see being given Morphine, but what reason would I be given an IV mix of Morphine and Benadryl?

s given as often as morphine is? They really should have switched her to a pill before sending her home. Be careful and watch her close so she doesn't become addicted. If she takes them for less than 10 days, she should be ok. Let us know what happens.
They have more info on dosage now so it is probably more safe now than when you were born. Also through the IV it will help relieve pain in your whole body( but won't take pain away) so they probably won't let you walk around. I will be getting Demerol when I can't take the pain anymore because I want to walk around.
A variety of other events (removal of morphine PCA, removal of IV fluids) led to him not eating or drinking, pain increasing dramatically, and vomiting. He was placed back of IV fluids, PCA morphine, antibiotics, a picc line for TPN, and also had a NG tube inserted on freeflow. A CT scan revealed two large haematomas in his abdominal area as well as ileus. He has now had paralytic ileus for two weeks, is still very distended, and his intestines are full of air.
Morphine if you're past the point of an epidural and a couple cm before delivery. It makes you all loopy but aware. That's how my friend explained it.
I had some kind of pain medication because I had to wait awhile for my epidural to arrive. Anyways they injected it into my iv. I felt like I was completely drunk. The nurse said it would take the edge off the pain and she was right. I still hurt but it was manageable. The epidural works great usually. Your legs will be numb but usually you feel little to no pain from contractions.
My boyfriend just came clean about his IV Morphine addiction. He's been doing it off and on for 4 years now and I found his syringes last night while we were cleaning the house - he came clean to me about the addiction and flushed all of his stuff. Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant.
Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.
I was recently on 30mg of Opana ER 2x a day and then I was allowed to take up to 4 tablets of 10mg instant release tablets for break out pain. I have found that the 30mg of Opana ER 2x a day is helping me tremendously. However, the 10mg tablets for the breakout pain wasn't doing well for me, so the doctor switched me to 30mg tablets of morphine up to 4x a day for breakout pain. I haven't been able to tell the difference yet, but I hope this is the answer to my breakout pain.

Thanks for the good advice. I agree, googling has not done me any good. They had to give me iv morphine as well and I wasn't happy about it but the contractions were just awful. Funny thing was, they gave me the shot of morphine and asked if I could still feel them and I said that I think they had stopped but my husband said you could still see them very clearly on the CTG for ages, so it was definietly helping me cope with them.
She had a t/v scan and the baby was doing good and heart was healthy. The hcg levels were great. Then she was in bad pain. They gave morphine and then she was sent home. But she ended up losing him at home. We went back to confirm an empty uterus. A complete miscarriage was documented and the doctors were shocked. Was this due to the morphine? My brother is addicted to morphine. He is currently going through detox on his own. He can't hold down any food or much of any liquids. Is it possible to detox on your own without medications?
