Avatar m tn Hi Adam, Please pardon my tardy Welcome to our Pain Management Community. I'm sorry to hear about your increased medical issues since April. The literature states, "You should not take morphine if you have severe asthma or breathing problems." Indeed Morphine is known to trigger asthma in some ppl. Actually morphine can trigger an attack because of histamine release. Histamine is a potent bronchocontrictor thus has the potential to induce an asthma attack.
Avatar m tn It is not a good idea to take non-prescribed narcs without your doctor's knowledge. A.) It can be dangerous. B.) If/when they find out, you'll be detoxing "really" fast. C.) It will mess up your detox schedule. It sounds like your doctor is doing the right thing. When reaching higher and higher, escalating dosages of opiates, the ratio of therapeutic benefit to side effects gets worse.
757137 tn?1347196453 The doc became very aggressive, but when I pushed him on this, explaining that I had just moved from Hawaii which is in the path of much of the heavy metal and radioactive fallout from Fukushima (we had the highest levels of Strontium-90 in our milk than any other place in the U.S. right after the disaster occurred. No other testing was done even though TEPCO continues to announce further releases of radioactive materials into the ground, sea, and atmosphere.
Avatar f tn Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.
535089 tn?1400673519 Thank you so much for sharing this information with us Molly. Unfortunately I have heard and read about this before. And also unfortunately everyone wants in on the act. The "War Against Drugs"....is really the War Against Physicians and Chronic Pain Sufferers!! And when and where will this end? You can bet it won't be good. Until chronic pain is recognized for what it is, a disease.
Avatar f tn I have never requested early before and it would seem too great of a coincidence, but he seemed very nonchalant about the early refil when I asked him in person. And regarding the urine test, I assume he wants to make sure I'm taking the norco instead of selling it, which I am, but I also smoke pot. Pot is legal in Ca, but is this going to cause an issue?
329165 tn?1515471990 the Hospital (Burnside War memorial in Adelaide) and Staff were so much more professional en efficient - than what I am used to from South African Private hospitals and I am definitely a morphine-fan :) Since I woke up from surgery I was only allowed ice and sips of water, but last night I had a bit of mash and jello and had toast and tea this morning and it went well. Not hungry at all, but hubby Fernando is going to feed me mash and jello tonight. No bowelmovement at all.
Avatar n tn no, hydrocodone is vicodin. Morphine sulfate is the active ingredient in morphine. If you are worried about a possible reaction to the medication, I would speak to your local pharmacists. I'm not sure if hydrocodone and morphine are in the same family of drugs. I know vicodin and percocet are in a similar family (due to codine), but morphine is much different. refer to this website. http://www.rxlist.com/duramorph-drug.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms suggest something to do with the kidneys. In fact, some people who have been badly hurt in a war situation, their muscle tissue at the site of injury will deteriorate, and when the breakdown passes through the kidneys, it can cause the dark urine. But there are other causes, including an infection or dehydration. One simple thing you can do to help whatever the diagnosis turns out to be is to drink extra water. And if they've already done a urinalysis, get another one.
237039 tn?1264258057 I have been given Morphine in the hospitals during my heart attacks, and most recently was given Morphine quite frequently. I was told last April, the reason they were giving me Morphine at short intervals is because it "oxygenates" the heart. As long as I had the chest pains they were administering the Morphine at 30 minute intervals. I protested the frequent use, but was told it was for that reason I was being given that much.

John McCain, an old fashioned militarist, is on the floor of the Senate condemning Obama for abandoning Iraq. What else is new? What is happening? The Fall of Mosul and Tikrit, and the Likely Siege of Baghdad Tikrit, Iraq — hometown of Saddam Hussein — fell today. The Islamic State of Iraq (ISIS), a Sunni creation, took the city by force, just a day after they took over Mosul.
148588 tn?1465778809 Yeah, it sounds that way to me, too. It sounds like it could get pretty bad. I mean, let's be clear. It's already terrible in Libya. I mean, the situation is bad and getting worse without any help from outside countries. You know, you have this patchwork of rival cities and tribes and militias choosing up sides for a kind of national conflagration for the first time. That's already very bad.
Avatar f tn There was a time you could buy heroin legally out of the Sears catalog. At one period of time we had a huge population, particularly in the midWest, of addicts made up in large part of women and children. I can't be sure if it was World War I or II' but theynwould give soldiers plenty of morphine. It helped the soldiers walknfarther, as a lot of them had foot rot and other problems with their feet. Of course, it was also given to the injurednmen.

654183 tn?1225309036 No one puts a drug in solution and then in a needle to squirt in their mouths. They could use an eyedropper to do that. You may need to wake fully up here if you wish to save your marriage. And you have legitimate concerns for health. I have already done a years worth of experimental chemo from the Mayo Clinic because of my carelessness. It is no joke. I would be glad to chat if you wish to PM me ---- unfortunately the bottom line seems to be that he needs to want to quit for himself.
Avatar n tn too much morphine can result in death. I would advise you to call your pharmacist for information - they would be able to give you pharmaceutical information that would clarify this situation. I am sorry for you loss and the experience around it.

Avatar f tn Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant. Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.
