Morphine in urinalysis

Common Questions and Answers about Morphine in urinalysis

Avatar f tn ) Some tests are not sensitive enough if you have a small amount in your blood stream. 2.) Some Medications will cancel out the Morphine in your system. 3.) your just not taking your Meds. Of course I don't know what it might be in your case. Are you taking anything else besides the Diazapam or the Pot? I have an article posted in my journals about certian medications canceling out the Morphine. You might want to take a look. Also, It is not advisable to smoke pot when you are seeing a PMS.
Avatar m tn Trazodone. Trazodone will inhibit opioid metabolites from showing in your urine. I can't believe it. I take 100mg of trazodone every night for sleep, so when my doctor took my urine, tah-dah, no opiates. Upon further research it would seem that it does not affect the analgesia of morphine or oxycodone. Therefore the fact that ms contin doesn't help me with my pain is all me and my silly body. So, for all of my friends out there, we have all learned an interesting lesson.
Avatar n tn So this test now too has come back with the oxymorphone result along with my morphine and oxycodone. Is this ok in your opinion? I have read about it online and know that oxycodone will sometimes metabolize as oxymorphone and be picked up in urine even though it is considered a "minor metabolite". I think this is fine as other tests have come back with it while other tests dates have not. Is is just how my body is metabolizing before that particular test?
Avatar f tn I know the exhaustion and the migraine are both physical results of my PM doctor letting me go due to a false negative. I laid in bed last night in tears while holding a cold cloth accross my forehead trying desperately to relieve some of the pain and nauseau (sp) I was experiencing due to this massive migraine!! I know it is stress related. I repeatedly talked myself out of vomitting! I am still in shock over my doctor letting me go because of the false negative for my pain medication.
Avatar n tn Pm doctor appointment 6 hrs away scared urinalysis might say I don't have enough in my system. When should I takes these last meds to achieve optimal levels ? Scared of stuiped pain contract. Any advice out there?
Avatar f tn I am really glad that I found this forum...I am currently in as state of shock over what just took place at my own pain management doctors office. I have herniated lumbar discs which have also caused nerve damage, degenerative disc disease and buldging cervical discs. I have been on morphine for about 4 years, extended release and instant release. Last month the doctor gave ALL patients a urine test and when I got there today he said "we have a problem"...
Avatar f tn Yesterday was a day which left me in complete and utter shock, to say the least. You see, last month my pain management doctors office performed "urinalysis" testing on ALL patients. I am 100% honest with my doctor and we have always had a good patient/doctor relationship. With how extreme the damage is to my back and the nerves they have said "it is inoperable and all we can do is try to keep you comfortable".
5080348 tn?1416848454 I screamed more than they could put the Versed in me... Don't know where biopsies are done on others BUT.. WOW... in 2009 I had an 7" hiatal hernia meshed back into my esophagus...the esophagus was pulled down into my stomach, then stomach muscles wrapped around it to hold it in place. All I can say is that when I get a BIG case of gas, I cannot burp.. Occasionally, I get a sever pain (gas or irritation) right in the center of my rib cage..
356518 tn?1322267242 The VA study I have posted in my journal and refer members to was done in 2004 I believe. I continue to look for updated material on this as we do get members who have to deal with the mysterious results of a false negatives alot. I will also post this link in the health pages and journal for future reference. I have several other studies I am looking at also that addresses false negatives.
Avatar f tn Hello, Blood in the urine can present in one of two ways: gross hematuria (blood that you can see in the urine), and microscopic hematuria (blood that is only seen when the urine is examined under a microscope). Both types can have serious causes. This pain radiating down the leg can be due to pinched nerve but blood in urine needs to be evaluated. When the blood in the urine is at the beginning of urination, it most likely comes from the urethra, (the tube from the bladder to the outside).

Avatar m tn I also have developed persistent proteinuria (3+ on every urinalysis that's been done in the past six months) that is being worked up by a nephrologist. Somehow I wonder sometimes if all of this is connected somehow, or if it's a coincidence that I have such severe post-infectious IBS and seem to be developing a bunch of rare autoimmune conditions over the past year and a half. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn I would like to hear more about yours what symptoms you had in the past. Also, did they tell you what might have caused your Epididymitis? I thank you in advance for your reply.
Avatar n tn can Norco 1000 show up as morphine in a urinalysis drug test performed 2 weeks from injury on job?
Avatar f tn Reglan (metoclopromadine) is a very cheap medication, unfortunately, it is also metabolized in the kidneys, so a too high dose results in toxic levels in the blood. My husband and I discovered that completely bypassing the GI tract by using reglan injections worked much better in the end. Chica didn't get the extra pyramidal side effects (extreme restlessness, shaking and trembling) from the reglan injections that she got from the oral meds.
Avatar m tn My 16yr old daughter has had a migraine for 11 days and counting, we have been to the Emergency room 3 times, they have given her morphine, reglan, benedryl, and about 8 others on top of Tylenol and ibuprofen, she has had a ft scan, cbc, urinalysis and spinal puncture and still no answers, they keep saying viral but nothing, I need to help my daughter someone please please please help me....
Avatar n tn When testing for heroin in urinalysis often both heroin and it's metabolite 6MAM are looked for being that it's not difficult to get drugs in most rehab centers and since 6MAM is not a metabolite of codeine or morphine even though heroin is metabolized into morphine before it reaches the brain. None of this would have been accurate in answering his/her question of whether or not it is possible that the drug has been stored in fat cells and if this could cause him to show as positive.
Avatar m tn in addition to your main medication because of it not working for a different pain receptor that is not responsive to that drug, but it isn't the same as your absorption problem with morphine So it sounds like you are moving in the right direction. This med. alone might work for you but if it doesn't totally do the trick don't loose heart because it is not unusual. Good Luck and God Bless. I am so thankful we live in a place were we can get pain relief...........
Avatar n tn And if they've already done a urinalysis, get another one. I might add, when a person is in pain, it is VERY hard to do the normal things you're used to. Adequate pain control is important, because otherwise people can get confused from pain, they cannot relax, and they get depressed from frustration. Could be if you went to a pain clinic, they might take more seriously some better ************** and give you what you need. I mean, if you're on morphine now, I apologize for mentioning it.
477746 tn?1254788147 Kidney stone pain is usually treated with morphine or demerol IV in a hospital setting...
Avatar m tn It metabolizes in a complex way into morphine and many other substances. You might ask your PM about that? Could you stop the Tylenol 3 for a month and see if this affects your urinalysis?
Avatar n tn For the acute pain in the right quadrant - They did blood tests for kidney and liver function, and urinalysis. Also, a regular Xray in the ER, the night before they did the CT Scan - and that first night they gave him a cocktail of morphine, toradol, gravol and flomax. Of course with all that on board the pain subsided - temporarily. The urinalysis, that first night, showed a small amount of blood in the urine - which is why she seemed (at the time) quite certain it would be a kidney stone.
1379106 tn?1279036747 I'd be interested to know if the lab was asked to perform a general opiate screen or pinpoint the exact meds in your sample. If they're only relying on urinalysis, they're probably only doing a general screen. You can easily test negative if you drink a lot water and the urine is very diluted. That counts as a "flush" in drug testing terms and is usually an automatic fail.
Avatar f tn I am sure that a lot of you are figuring that I had abused the program, that is why they dismissed me but honestly this is what happened. They said that they found Morphine in my urinalysis that they took back in October.
1916673 tn?1420236870 ALT (15 - 84 U/L) ALT stands for Alunine aminotransferase, which is an enzyme found mostly in the cells of the liver and kidney, but also in much smaller amounts in the heart and muscles. Increased results suggest liver damage, severe shock, toxin ingestion, Cushing's disease, acute or chronic hepatitis and/or pancreatitis among other secondary and primary conditions.
Avatar n tn Visited the ER for symptoms of a bladder infection along with significant abdominal pain. Was given a urinalysis, diagnosed with a UTI, prescribed antibiotics and released. Two days later, abdominal pain continually worsened and became severe, could not walk. Returned to ER. Diagnosed with ruptured appendix at midnight. Received morphine continuously for pain because so severe. However, surgery was not performed for 8 1/2 hours after diagnosis until doctor arrived in morning.
Avatar f tn Hi Cporovich.. welcome to the forum. I have sent you a private message as well as I posted on my board where you originally posted. I apologize for my absence, however I did explain why on my board. Regarding your doctor, results and retest. First of all, I am sorry you had to go through this... I know first hand how much it hurts to have a doctor who you trusted so much, turn on you and not believe you! I don't think he is worried about the marijuana.
Avatar m tn I'm 26, have allergies and about 3 weeks ago I started having constant stomach pains (pain level 2-3), this went on for 2 days then the 3rd day it got worse to the stabbing pain level, when I was leaning back in a chair and went to sit up it hurt like someone stabbed me. So I went to urgent care the next day and the doc pushed around the main pain spots were around my stomach (directly below my rub cage) and around my appendix area.
