Avatar n tn My 13 year old daughter was given morphine in the emergency room, back in March for abdominal pain. After my research she had all the symptoms of a stroke. not one Dr. at the hospital looked onto it. She was admitted to the hospital for 4 days and not one word mentioned. Except for my friends that are nurses say they gave her too much and she could have died. Even Narcan couldnt reverse the morphine. I am worried about her health in the future.
Avatar m tn i am on very high doses of morphine, oramorph, tramadol, dihydrocodeine, baclofen, arthrotec & some paracetamol for a bad back. I also have osteoporosis & take calcium tablets for this too. This has gone on for 5 years since i fell off the back of my old works truck. Oh & 2 lots of pills for high blood pressure.
Avatar f tn s going to help reduce the risk of preterm labour (which is why I had to be on the morphine as well, as the stress the trauma did to my body was causing more harm to baby, so the pain HAD to be managed). If you want more advice if you aren't comfortable, I'd seek a 2nd doctors opnion, and not Dr. Google! :). Good luck!
Avatar m tn s also possible that the trauma to your system caused a distruption in your overall chemical make-up or an underlying condition to surface. This could be nothing but your body taking a little more time to readjust. However if it's disrupting your life don't wait to obtain a medical opinion. We'll look forward to your updates.
Avatar n tn I also have morphine (extended-release) to take in conjunction when I need to for keeping the pain level down. This discussion is related to Trauma induced neuropathy?.
Avatar n tn no, hydrocodone is vicodin. Morphine sulfate is the active ingredient in morphine. If you are worried about a possible reaction to the medication, I would speak to your local pharmacists. I'm not sure if hydrocodone and morphine are in the same family of drugs. I know vicodin and percocet are in a similar family (due to codine), but morphine is much different. refer to this website. http://www.rxlist.com/duramorph-drug.
1637650 tn?1300353310 The worst of all was the nausea it was heavy that I had to move in with a friend so she can help me with my 6 years old daughter. I even was in hospital to give me the drip for fluid. This really came at the worst time because on the 5 Feb 11 my partner was returning home after 2 years not seeing him but wasn't even able to go to the airport. I lost a whopping 4 kilos and my face looked as death is coming.
237039 tn?1264258057 I have been given Morphine in the hospitals during my heart attacks, and most recently was given Morphine quite frequently. I was told last April, the reason they were giving me Morphine at short intervals is because it "oxygenates" the heart. As long as I had the chest pains they were administering the Morphine at 30 minute intervals. I protested the frequent use, but was told it was for that reason I was being given that much.
Avatar m tn The blood can indicate stomach damage or even a nasty condition called esophogeal varicies, in which blood vessels in the throat rupture and you quickly bleed to death. This could easily be fatal, even if it happened in a shock/trauma unit.
Avatar n tn Five days later she woke up in the middle of the night with excrutiating pain in the right parietal area. Again she goes to the ER where they gave her morphine ( she is allergic to nsaid), triptane and benadryl, and told her is sinusitis. Te pain continues to this day, currently the vision of right eye has now dimished. Doctors keeps saying its stress. The pain is fixed on right parietal region, occasionally radiated to jaw.

Avatar f tn What if hypothetically (heaven forbid) I got into an accident of some kind and had to be given pain meds like morphine or something at the hospital while still on suboxone? I'm guessing you'd need to tell them first, but what if you were unconscience or something? Please don't think I'm asking this to know if I can get high while on suboxone. That's the last thing I want to do. Seriously.
Avatar f tn my friend dissolved morphine tablets in hot water then injected it into her vein is this going to hurt her?
654183 tn?1225309036 No one puts a drug in solution and then in a needle to squirt in their mouths. They could use an eyedropper to do that. You may need to wake fully up here if you wish to save your marriage. And you have legitimate concerns for health. I have already done a years worth of experimental chemo from the Mayo Clinic because of my carelessness. It is no joke. I would be glad to chat if you wish to PM me ---- unfortunately the bottom line seems to be that he needs to want to quit for himself.
Avatar n tn too much morphine can result in death. I would advise you to call your pharmacist for information - they would be able to give you pharmaceutical information that would clarify this situation. I am sorry for you loss and the experience around it.
Avatar m tn I recently started having extreme back pain had a MRI and I could not believe how bad my back is l4 and l5 is sitting on my nerve of s1 I have been taking MS Contin 60 milligrams for 5 years now from an accident in the surgery room. I take percocet 7.5 - 325 and it does not touch my pain. I called my doctor and he suggested ibuprofen 800. I took one when I was in extreme pain level 10 and my pain was gone within an hour completely gone.
Avatar n tn s on 110mg twice a day with liquid morphine viles in between to keep him going - however, the morphine seemed to make his symptoms worse and he has turned into someone i dont even know - he wont allow me to contact him so i feel useless and obviously very hurt and worried about him.
Avatar f tn Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant. Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.
Avatar m tn i dont know anything about morphine...never taken it, but some here have. i do know the thomas recipe in the health pages to the right of this page will offer good tips and vitamins and aminos for detox. glad to see you have had enough and gonna take your life back. keep us posted..
1907946 tn?1321916894 He may be receiving too much morphine for his system to tolerate it well. I am not an expert in anything. This is just my personal opinion. Talk to your father's prescribing physician. Don't be afraid to express your concerns. It doesn't sound like your father is in a position to speak for himself.... he is fortunate to have your love and concern. I would look into medications that treat nerve pain. There are several good ones on the market. Discuss those with his physician.
760862 tn?1243097304 I broke my nose, my jaw and had to be wired, broke 7 teeth still going to the dentist, broke all my ribs, shatered my pelvis and have 3 screws and broke my back in 3 places and now have rods in my back. I am in constant pain all the time, the doctor gives me pain meds, alot of pain meds and I eat them like candy that is the only way I can keep my pain down. I take 2 60mg long acting morphine a day and up to 25 5mg oxycodone and up to 8 2mg hydromorphone.
Avatar n tn The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................
784419 tn?1236261756 After running the gamut of pain medications in an effort to find some relief from the constant, chronic pain I endure from spondylolisthesis, I've been prescribed morphine tablets at 10 mgs per tab. I'm still getting no relief from the pain. Should I ask my GP for a higher dosage?
535089 tn?1400673519 My understanding is that this study was done for the purpous of drug testing and why in some cases the drug came up negative in tests. Also I think that Morphine is a much stronger drug than Oxycodone. It is my opinion that Morphine controls pain on a much better level.....Thank's for your input. It's appreciated.
Avatar f tn Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.
Avatar f tn They gave me morphine when I went into preterm labour on monday and it was awful. It made me really dopey and spaced out and I could still feel the contractions but obviously not as painful. The dr said next time I can ask for a half dose if I'd prefer not to be so out of it.
