Avatar m tn I am a 47 year old woman, I do have acid reflux but I am currently taking meds for this issue. I have a feeling of something in the top of throat, I try to swallow but it will not go down.
Avatar n tn I know all this because the exact same thing happened to my son. Nothing would take his pain away, in spite of being on high doses of methadone, which eventually stopped working. Amazingly enough, once he withdrew the methadone, the pain subsided. It got worse during the withdrawal, as expected, but once his body was cleared of the addiction, the pain was so minimal it was manageable with OTC stuff and eventually he didn't notice any pain.
Avatar n tn At one point my parents finally decided to move me out of the bedroom we shared and put her in the smallest bedroom by herself and only placed a bed in there. No toys no tv. Instead of showering her and changing her each time she pooped at home my mom let her sit in her own mess for a day or so.
Avatar m tn When it hits the sensitive tissue of the vocal chords it does damage and the response is to produce mucous. It's only been a few days, and you don't give much information to go on, so the simplest thing would be to go to your doctor and get it checked out.
Avatar m tn I had the same kind of difficulties that you're talking about after my TT in August this past year. Yes, I was told before surgery that there was a chance that my vocal cords would be affected but I never knew that it would affect my swallowing and breathing! It took approximately 6 to 8 weeks for my vocal cords to start moving again, and even then one of them was "lazy". I was told that it was "nerve trauma", and that nerves take a long time to heal.
Avatar m tn t feel any wrong but I still cannot sing anything in falsetto nor head voice. I suppose my vocal chords are still swollen cause the only thing i can hear and feel is the air coming through my chords with no sound while singing in high pitches. Still is it normal to last over 2 weeks already? I am a little afraid I could do something wrong with my voice by drinking alcohol after intensive singing during concert.
Avatar m tn It probably is some inflammation which is troubling you. It could be an inflammation of the spermatic cord or may be of the epididymis. I’ll suggest you to consult a urologist as you need a physical examination to look for the same. However, I don’t think it’s any kind of cancer especially at your age. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn The cough worsened and I started vomiting when coughing. Although I am now coughing less, I have lost my voice which means I cannot work. My chest hurts because of the strain on my muscles. My GP has listened to my chest and says that it is clear. I have asthma but this is not related to this as far as I am aware. I am currently awaiting an appointment with ENT as my GP thinks I may have damaged my vocal chords but wondered if you have any advise in the meanwhile?
Avatar f tn It plays tunes - random ones - over and over and over and drives me insane. I know all the words, chords, rhythms - the whole lot. I can't "switch it off" and I can't get to sleep. This has been going on for months now. Am I alone?
461147 tn?1214589429 your doctor can get a general idea just by feeling your neck. He should also check your vocal chords in his office. at least this was true for me. i'm seeing an ear, nose and throat specialist. some people go through an endocrinologist for their nodules. just depends on where you live & who your g.p. recommends.
Avatar n tn Let me preface this by saying, I'm no expert. Just someone experiencing the same thing. Wow sammy! You're telling my story!! I've had the same sensation for a few months. I finally went for an EGD today, partial results, "single area of ectopic gastric mucosa". He also performed a biopsy on the inlet patch. It's suppose to take a week to receive those results.
Avatar f tn At that time the only findings were - granulation which was normal and to be expected) and swelling of tissue around the vocal chords. I was originally in surgery for breast cancer but something happened as I was 'paralized' to be intubated and the intubation was impossible - an emer. trach was performed. I have never been given a difinitive reason but have heard several possibilities; swollen tissue, bone growth in neck (ruld out by CT) , but nothing definitive.
681148 tn?1437661591 t know if it has anything to do with Fibromyalgia or not, but it is a type of muscle spasm. I remember how embarrassed I would get when the vocal chords would spasm while I was sitting in class while the teacher was lecturing. Everyone would turn around and look at me and the teacher would just glare at me like I was being disruptive and rude on purpose. Thankfully, he didn't decide to take it further and hold me after class.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your replies. I did make an appointment in mid May with an endo, so hopefully he will do more testing for me. The voice continues to be hoarse, with no cold or any reason for it happening. Is 1/2 cm growth in four months a lot? Thanks again!
506981 tn?1223185396 Hi. Part of the pain your mother is experiencing may be due to distention of the biliary tract because of the accumulation of bile. So doing the PTBD may help relieve some of the pain by relieving the pressure from the accumulated bile. If she's still experiencing pain in spite of the morphine, then additional doses should be given or a new drug should be added to control the pain more effectively.
Avatar f tn s peed twice and this morning, I woke to her throw on the floor all in a ball and a couple balls of poop. I was TICKED OFF. Is she seriously doing this out of spite? Are we going to have to crate her at night.
Avatar f tn How recent? I just had a lobectomy 11 days ago, my voice is now pretty normal...I was a singer before, so my surgeon took extra care with my laryngeal nerves. The anesthesiologist also used a child's size tube for intibation, I think that also left me with no pain. I have been able to do some basic singing exercises now, and all is coming along nicely. I have heard that some people get their voice back a few weeks later and all at once, it just kind of comes back.
1007064 tn?1275322768 Then two days the pain was back i went to see him and he gave me RX of oxy 60mg twice aday on the other stuff but told me to stop the morphine. this last time that i was in the hospital they did a mri and ct.One doctor said everything looks alright then another doctor said that there is a bluge in between L4 and L5 and that may be causing some of this pain and does not know what else can be making this pain that bad. I think he does know but not telling me i am only 43 years old.
Avatar n tn t heard of this complication after RAI but it is possible - especially if there was a lot of thyroid tissue around the vocal chords. The radiation would have stayed in that area and burned out the thyroid tissue - possibly scarring the vocal chords - there may have also been a bit of metastases on the chord(s) themselves. I would suggest talking to and ENT about the problem with the vocal chords - they may need to run a scope down your throat to visualize the chords and see what is happening.
Avatar f tn hi there flycaster, are you still on this, i am desperate to discuss my similar case with you. you are the first person who has given me hope in my 3 yr struggle .please let me know asap.
Avatar f tn I have/had TMJ. I began treatment 3 years ago with orthodontia. I am currently still getting my jaw adjusted. As a result I have a situation where I get a little dizzy and very exhausted after I have sung for an hour. I lost my voice completely last fall. When the orthodontist adjusted my jaw back, my voice came back. But if I sing for any length of time, my vocal chords don't hurt, but I feel like a nerve is over stimulated resulting in mild dizziness and exhaustion.
Avatar m tn before, i used to yell and sing loudly for as long as i could without any problems, but now when i try to do that it feels like my throat gets fatigued or i have a bit of disconfort. speaking in a normal volume i have no problem with. All this began when i tried to lift a really heavy object and as i heaved i flexed my neck muscles with too much force. thats when i felt the change. its been a year now and im wondering if i may have damaged my vocal chords or something?
