Avatar f tn X rays can be normal in pancreatitis and ultrasonography may reveal abnormal findings. Your symptoms and elevated lipase levels can also be seen in cholecystitis. And going on a gallbladder conscious diet will not hinder the findings so don’t worry. Ultrasounds and CT scans will help detect any abnormalities in the structure of the gall bladder. To study the functioning tests like HIDA scan need to be done. Best Regards.
Avatar m tn I had my gall bladder removed in 2009 after the birth of my son. I had continuing pain and they discovered a stone in my bile duct which was removed however the episodic pain continued and required hospitalisation every few months for antibiotics, pain killers and fluids. The doctors diagnosed Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction a complication of gall bladder removal and i have 4 sphincorotomies to try and help however it made the situation worse and caused more scare tissue.
Avatar f tn By the way, trying natural cures is ill-advised because, they can actually cause a large stone to get stuck in the duct...Very bad...
Avatar f tn I had my gallbladder removed in 2010. Put off going to Dr. for 4 days with excrutiating back, rib, and upper abdominal pain, then, Fri. I went to E.R. They said my liver enzymes were very high. My b.p was 95/42, which happens sometimes with me, and at first the ER doctor said Hepatitis. Then he said I had a 3.8mm gallstone in my bile duct and had to get the test where they put the camera down your throat and pull the stone out.
667078 tn?1316000935 Duncan first recognized it in 1844 when a fatal case of acalculous cholecystitis complicating an incarcerated hernia was reported. The condition causes approximately 5-10% of all cases of acute cholecystitis and is usually associated with more serious morbidity and higher mortality rates than calculous cholecystitis. It is most commonly observed in the setting of very ill patients (eg, on mechanical ventilation, with sepsis or severe burn injuries,1 after severe trauma2 ).
Avatar n tn Do an abdominal ultrasound for stones in the gall bladder or cholecystitis .... let the surgeon detect if it is acute or chronic , you might need an antibiotic in addition to a pain killer for sometime before deciding to remove it , if the condition is caused by the gall bladder .....
Avatar m tn I am presuming that, in the absence of gall stones, cholecystitis is not so likely to flare up to the point of needing emergency treatment on the road, though possibly uncomfortable. Do you know if there is anything I can do to "settle down" and inflamed gall bladder for some time? Do NSAIDs have any impact in controlling inflammation? Can drinking cranberry juice (or something like this used to control urinary tract infections -- you get the idea) help?
Avatar f tn They gave me a shot of morphine and kept me in for two nights on an iv fluid diet to help my liver and gallbladder. They then started me on a strict low fat diet. Unfortunately it turned out I didn't have gallstones but rather my gallbladder had quit working so they removed it at 21wks pregnant.
Avatar f tn Cholecystitis is the medical name for inflammation of the gallbladder. Cholecystitis is most often the result of an obstruction within a duct in the gallbladder. Gallstones (cholelithiasis) are the most common cause of obstruction within the gallbladder. Left untreated, the inflammation may lead to infection. Other less common causes of cholecystitis include infection, injury and tumors. Inflammation of the gallbladder is a common disease in the United States.
Avatar m tn Final DX: Chronic Cholecystitis with Focal Epithelial Adenomatous Hyperpasia, favor reactive, one reactive lymph node. do I have cancer?
Avatar n tn no, hydrocodone is vicodin. Morphine sulfate is the active ingredient in morphine. If you are worried about a possible reaction to the medication, I would speak to your local pharmacists. I'm not sure if hydrocodone and morphine are in the same family of drugs. I know vicodin and percocet are in a similar family (due to codine), but morphine is much different. refer to this website. http://www.rxlist.com/duramorph-drug.
4454327 tn?1405203128 Pancreatitis should always be ruled out in such cases. Pancreatitis is one of the causes of cholecystitis. You should consult your gastroenterologist and get pancreatitis evaluated and investigated in detail. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
504535 tn?1210527032 Yellow stools generally indicate insufficient bile output like cholecystitis, gall stones, it can also indicate an intestinal infection like giardiasis when the stool passes very quickly through the intestine. Other conditions that can cause yellow stools include hepatitis, pancreatitis or liver cirrhosis. It does not indicate cancer like you rightly mentioned.
Avatar f tn Need to call the doc in let them know what's going on.
237039 tn?1264258057 I have been given Morphine in the hospitals during my heart attacks, and most recently was given Morphine quite frequently. I was told last April, the reason they were giving me Morphine at short intervals is because it "oxygenates" the heart. As long as I had the chest pains they were administering the Morphine at 30 minute intervals. I protested the frequent use, but was told it was for that reason I was being given that much.
Avatar n tn after the cholecystectomy operation patient complaints sever pain in the abdomen which is similar as cholecystitis pain also associate with vomithing and nausea.
Avatar n tn Since the past three weeks I am experiencing some kind of pain in the Right side of the abdomen. It is not exactly pain, it seems more like a discomfort or some kind of a niggle. However, sometimes(very rarely) I have these stinging pains in the same right abdomen region which lasts for just a second or two. Also, the pain/discomfort doesn't seem to be there while I'm standing or lying on the bed, it is only while sitting continually for long time.
Avatar n tn Most common factor in an enlarged gallbladder is the inflammation of the gallbladder usually from cholecystitis, which causes swelling. These could be serious conditions and should be medically evaluated. Can you describe the symptoms and offer a brief medical history?
Avatar f tn ve been told that I have all of the signs of a diseased gallbladder, but because the ultrasound showed no stones and only mild wall thickening in the first of the two it's apparently not enough to make a diagnosis just yet. I'm getting really depressed over it and I'm sitting here trying not to cry out of frustration while I'm typing this out. I'm really scared and I just want to know what's wrong with me.
Avatar f tn It is good you went to the ER just to be safe in case it was heart-related. What did they find out? It sounds like it could have been a problem with your gallbladder, either gallstones or acute cholecystitis. An ultrasound can tell you if your gallbladder is the problem. Hope you feel better!
Avatar m tn I go regularly to my ultrasound doctor he suggested me that he had ultrasound one year before so he could not find polys (pockets) in wall etc. So due to instant change in gallbladder i suggest you to go for operation. Please answer this.
Avatar f tn Is there any history of trauma or injury to the site? Did you have cough in the recent past? Does the pain increase on coughing etc? There could be several causes for your complaints - you should consult your doctor to rule out abdominal causes like GERD, gastritis, cholecystitis, etc. Repiratory causes could be rib fracture, pneumonia, etc. It could also be due to a muscle pull or sprain.
