He now has a temporary ileostomy bag. He spent a total of 36 days in the hospital and was on morphine for almost 2 months. He has been off morphine for a couple of weeks and used Norco for the last 2 weeks and is not using any pain meds now. He has been very depressed since his operation, over 8 weeks ago. I felt I could understand the depression while in a hospital room for a month, but he has been home for over a month and his depression seems to be worse.

using narcotics during detox is not a real good idea as it is not defined as a detox if u r taking them....it will prolong this even longer if u continue...what was ur original dose? and DOC?...u may have needed to taper down a bit if it was a high dose...if u detox and quit taking narcotics the amount u used daily and the DOC can help determine how long til u feel better plus age, nutrional status and other things....1 week for most...2 weeks for some til the physical symptoms are gone...

Hi I was on Lortab tens for 8 yrs I have had a new dr and she is great for the last 9 yrs along the way she changed me to morphine 50/2mg E/R capsals twice a day (every 12 hrs)I know that loratab has Tylenol at a dose of 325mg and Tylenol goes thru your liver but what about morphine I was told it goes in to my blood stream is this true I had liver cancer in 1981 so I am trying to protect my liver and I have stage 3 kidney disease on the low end of stage 3 I also take flexeril 10 mg 3 a day but I

It was the Morphine! Since I had taken short-acting Morphine before but never the extended release that had caused the whole mess, the consensus was that it was a reaction to the extending agent. I have to get more blood work done this week before I can start a different controlled release med but they put me on extra of my normal short acting med to get me through. Besides some headaches and general anxiety, I'm doing okay.

I was wondering if Fentynal patches contain even the slightest amount of morphine in them. A friend of mine is dealing with a terminal illness along with terrible pain. They gave him Fentynal patches(heavey guns) and he claims that someone said that they contain just a small amout of Morphine. im not sure what mg but i expect him to start me on 15 of morphine. will the morphine help me? should i talk to him about another option such as percocet? im scared that the low beginning dosage will affect my quality and comfort even more.

I take them both daily , but together I guess it lowers the seizure threshold but probably won't be a problem if u don't have a history of seizures.

While in ER they gave me several shots of Dilauded and Morphine and continued to receive the shots about every 6 hours for two days. My history is I do see a pain mgmt doctor and take approx. 30-40mgs of Lortab a day for the past 3 years. I discontinued the morphine shots on Thursday but they have been giving me 7.5mg Lortab when requested. I've only been taking 3-4 of those a day. On Friday I began to get the cold sweats and pounding heart beat and today they come and go.

Well, first of all i know what i would tell your husband. Who cares what he wants or doesn't like. Look at the mess you are in. Sounds like you need to go and speak with a doctor and explain that you want to get off the morphine. Don't forget to tell him about this husband also who is obviously causing you alot of anxiety.

I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. My husband is addicted to Morphine. I have never done any type of drug and I really don't know what to do to help. Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant. Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.

The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................

Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.

Get a second and third opinion. I have DJD/DDD and have been to hundreds of doctors for treatment. I have had three surgeries but found my orthopedic surgeon to be my best friend for diagnosis. He helped diagnose some of my problems, did what he could and I trusted what he did. This after going to see hundreds of doctors who do not understand ddd/djd. Get a doctor who knows your disease and do some research on you own to understand what your disease is and how to treat it.

ve had 3 back surgiers w/fusions and a Steffi plate so I was on pain meds - Methadone, Lortab, and Soma. Got out of hospital where they had me on morphine IV, morphine extended tabs, morphine tabs, percocet.Now thru my pain mgmt Dr. I'm on Methadone (only 30 mgs) every 6 hours (was 80 before). Oxcyodone 15 mgs w/no filler) and Gababenten 300 mgs 3 x day. Ok, got out of hospital to find I am now disabled 100%, I have tremors now, lost the house I was renting as it foreclosed on.

I have suffered 3 compression fractures,that when the last one happens I heard the bones crunch so bad that it sounded like eggs crushing. I have been taking slo-release morphine for 4 yrs.My dose has been at 100mg.BID & 10mg statex for break thru pain.I also take Lyrica.However the pain is increasing & I can only sit,lay stand for 5-10 minutes at a time.Any suggestions for better pain control?I cannot take anti-inflammatorys due to having blood clots in my lungs (x3).
