Avatar f tn Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant. Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.
Avatar n tn Hi Sandi: Morphine is a natural drug. Not synthetic like that of Oxycodone. It also doesn't give you that euphoric effect which can be good. If you are truley not comfortable with the Morphine then talk with your Doctor about it. I'm sure that he will switch you back. Did you ask him for an increase in the first place? This could be the reason why. A 15 mg Morphine is actually stronger than a 5mg Oxycodone. So putting you on a 30mg was really a huge jump.
Avatar m tn I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. I certainly would not want him on oxycontin or fentanyl. Is Opana ER any better? Need advice from doctor preferably or someone who has an idea what they are talking about regarding this matter.

Avatar f tn Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.

525732 tn?1213046071 Well, first of all i know what i would tell your husband. Who cares what he wants or doesn't like. Look at the mess you are in. Sounds like you need to go and speak with a doctor and explain that you want to get off the morphine. Don't forget to tell him about this husband also who is obviously causing you alot of anxiety.
784419 tn?1236261756 After running the gamut of pain medications in an effort to find some relief from the constant, chronic pain I endure from spondylolisthesis, I've been prescribed morphine tablets at 10 mgs per tab. I'm still getting no relief from the pain. Should I ask my GP for a higher dosage?

Avatar n tn I've been taking Morphine Sulfate 15mg. slow release tablets for 2 weeks. The back pain I had is gone and I want to stop taking the Morphine. Is it safe to stop or do I have to wean off of it? I also have the quick release 15mg. of Morphine which I haven't had to use. Will I have some sore of reaction if I stop cold turkey?
Avatar f tn I have been taking 60-100mgs of morphine daily for years. I have not had any for almost 48 hours. I am not well. I do have access to Vicodin. Will the Vicodin just prolong the withdrawals? Please help!
1655240 tn?1302038830 Congratulations on having the strength to wean yourself down and stop using. The worst of the W/D's last from 4-7days, the 4th-5th day is in most cases is the turning point where you begin to feel a bit better (it may be shorter for you because you weaned yourself down). So 2-3 more days and things should start to be better give or take a day or so.
Avatar f tn I have no children but my best friend had her child while on methadone. She is a bright and healthy 7 year old girl today. Your baby may have to suffer for your mistakes but that by no means defines you as a bad mother. Miracles do happen. Best of luck to you and your family.
886779 tn?1253644204 i am addicted to morphine 120mg a day..time released....help...need painless recovery !!!
Avatar m tn Aloha all, I forgot to add that I went off the morphine once before and on the third day after I started having WD's and took some more morphine, wish I would have just stayed off and would probably be OK by now.
659218 tn?1225496912 I have always preferred Demerol but I have done morphine sulfate which worked good too. My pain dr, will not let me try anything stronger at this time?
Avatar m tn He now has a temporary ileostomy bag. He spent a total of 36 days in the hospital and was on morphine for almost 2 months. He has been off morphine for a couple of weeks and used Norco for the last 2 weeks and is not using any pain meds now. He has been very depressed since his operation, over 8 weeks ago. I felt I could understand the depression while in a hospital room for a month, but he has been home for over a month and his depression seems to be worse.
575863 tn?1218469013 watch your hydration - with the morphine you may lose fluids to vomiting or loose stools......gatorade and pedialyte are both good....you do not need sub - - you might benefit from any of the benzodiazepines ... valium, librium, zanax, etc....for the RLS. Use this forum for questions and support - many good folks here that will answer questions and give advice. Use a heating pad and hot showers/baths for muscle aches and RLS...
