1386676 tn?1280247305 Hello All I was wondering if anybody else out there has had any experiences of using fentanyl patches (especially uk durogesic and matrifen users that were previously on tilofyl or other brand gel based patches) that have had problems with withdrawal symptoms either from faulty patches, changeing to a different patch brand or changing over from oral morphine or other strong oral opioids like oxycodone, methadone, or dipipanone ? Which brand or type works best for you ?
Avatar m tn Hydromorphone and Morphine are two different drugs all together. It's hard to tell which one is making you feel so unmotivated. I take Morphine Sulfate ER with 10mg percocet breakthrough and the only side effects I have are nightmares and constipation. I eat really healthy. I eat oatmeal twice a day with chia seeds and I try and bike a few minutes a day. This gives me more energy then I can deal with.
1346101 tn?1288051949 I'm so sorry your in so much pain. Could it possibly make it any better if you change the patch to 48 hours? I know a lot of people need to change their patch more frequently due to metabolizing the med much quicker. I wonder if you would benifit from a morphine pump. I don't really know if the morphine pump works for your condition. I don't know what else could possibly work. There are not a lot of options when it comes to pain medications.
1855076 tn?1337115303 Oxymorphone is a completely different opioid than morphine. It is about 3 times stronger than morphine and 2 times stronger than oxycodone in pill form. A portion of a dose of Oxycodone is metabolized into Oxymorphone by the liver...similar to how codeine is metabolized into morphine by the liver.
82861 tn?1333453911 ) collect the patches off the backs of patients in the nursing home where she worked, squeeze the gel out onto a pane of glass, dry the gel, scrape it up with a razor blade... and smoke it! DO NOT DO THIS, by the way-- the carrier caused toxic damage to her lungs, and she ended up on a ventilator for several weeks with ARDS. She is out-of-breath at rest, at the age of 40-- not good.
Avatar f tn Some prefer the gel type and some prefer the simple patch. The gel I believe is the name brand and I know some do prefer this one and the other generic some prefer for its even release of medication. The gel or brand name is more powerful I believe but the generic has staying power. Someone will be along shortly and correct me if I am wrong as there are several people here that do use the patch and know the exact differences between the two.
Avatar f tn COQ10, fish oil, magnesium. I use most often a transdermal gel (info below) that acts as an anti-inflammatory without entering my blood stream that often keeps me off pain killers which can cause rebound headaches--even acetominophen or Tylenol. Or you should take prophylactic meds which are taken daily to prevent the migraines. Have you tried any of these?
Avatar f tn most insurance companies request you get generic if available...the generic for mscontin is morphine...but am also confused about the gel you are talking about...
Avatar f tn This has happened with Demerol, Diluidid,Darvocet,Hydrocodone and Tramadol. I can take Tylenol #3 and morphine (post op in the hospital) with out any problems. Sometimes,if I take one of the itchy ones with Atarax and benadryl I'm ok for awhile, and then the itching will eventually get too bad and I will have to switch to something else. Tylenol #3 dosen"t work very well for the pain, so my PCP is always looking for something else to try.
Avatar f tn Then morphine. 60 milligrams like every other day. Quit those. But like 10 days ago I got some fentanyl patches. Not perscribed, but ive been cutting them in fours and eating the gel. Like a patch a day for 10 days. This was before I read all the bad stuff on fentanyl. I agree it was extremely bone headed to do this. And I'm stopping. My question is how bad will the withdrawal be after only taking it for a little more than a week. I took something called kratom to help with the morphine.
Avatar f tn He gave me the morphine to help the methadone withdrawals. He planned on me tapering off the morphine, but I moved and haven't found a new doc yet, so I am not in a very good position. I should always have a dr, but it is difficult with everything else to do. So that is my story.
Avatar f tn Hi Woodsey. I can relate, having been diagnosed with Reiters in December, and have never gotten over it. The pain is massive and I've been seeing a pain management specialist.
Avatar f tn t been careful with them OR in the case of the Gel Filled patches where the Gel has leaked and they got more of the med than they were supposed to get. Just be sure that you are careful. If you use the Patch made by Mylan (it's the one that I use) you won't have the problem with the Gel because it's the one that has the Fenatnyl med in the adhesive and is much safer than the Gel Filled for us Patients.
Avatar f tn With my 1st born I got an epidural and I was looking into different pain relief options for this pregnancy. Any of you got morphine instead of an epidural and how was your experience?
Avatar n tn Hi yes it is normal behavior for Morphine, when you first start it your on top of the world then comes irritation and depression and even nightmares for some. How much is he on? How long? and dose he want to quit?
525732 tn?1213046071 Well, first of all i know what i would tell your husband. Who cares what he wants or doesn't like. Look at the mess you are in. Sounds like you need to go and speak with a doctor and explain that you want to get off the morphine. Don't forget to tell him about this husband also who is obviously causing you alot of anxiety.
Avatar m tn I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. I certainly would not want him on oxycontin or fentanyl. Is Opana ER any better? Need advice from doctor preferably or someone who has an idea what they are talking about regarding this matter.
654183 tn?1225309036 My husband is addicted to Morphine. I have never done any type of drug and I really don't know what to do to help. Every time I think I know what is going on I find out something else he has lied about. At first it was just taking the pills, then it was crushing the pills. Now I'm finding needles and spoons everywhere. He claims that he gets the pills down to liquid form and puts them in the needle and squirts it in his mouth. I just don't believe him anymore.
Avatar m tn I am going to go cold turkey on tuesday from 100mg morphine, been on them about 6 to 8 weeks. feeling sick when I dont take them and not able to take off time for detox and types for detox?
784419 tn?1236261756 After running the gamut of pain medications in an effort to find some relief from the constant, chronic pain I endure from spondylolisthesis, I've been prescribed morphine tablets at 10 mgs per tab. I'm still getting no relief from the pain. Should I ask my GP for a higher dosage?
Avatar f tn Morphine must be okay for the liver because that's what they used when I was in the ICU following my liver transplant. Be VERY careful with morphine. I was on it for 7 days and went wacky with hallucinations of all kinds.
Avatar f tn my friend dissolved morphine tablets in hot water then injected it into her vein is this going to hurt her?
Avatar n tn The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................
Avatar n tn iam on anti depressents floxetine & amytriptlijne then tramadol & 80 mg of morphine a day do you think i would be ok to get a job
Avatar f tn Second - is this a short acting (SA) or is it a long acting (LA) Morphine? 60mgs of Morphine is one heck of a one time dose. I would not take it. There could be serious complications, especially if you your system is opiate naive. Don't take it.
