Avatar f tn hi, I sure can relate...I've had the sciatica for at least 12 years..trying to remember back.. finally abt 6 yrs ago a doctor put me on a medication that was a God send..do you take meds for this? the sciatica was under control with the meds but eventually however that was only treating the symtoms and not the under lying cause, an MRI 3 yrs ago dx'd DDD with herniated disks. So my symtoms grew alot worse over the years until I had full blown neuropathy to my legs mainly the left..
Avatar n tn ve been on gabapentin(neurontin)1400-1800mg for abt 5 years for sciatica...and other nerve pain. It has been a God send for me allows me to sleep at night without that throbbing pain. gabapentin is an anti-seisure medication, there are others in this catagory that I'v read that are also good.
1402969 tn?1324690560 t take a pill pain so it has made me think of when I was in basic training and they had given me a shot in the butt for the pain. It didnt make me feel any different but boy did it help with the pain. I am wondering if anyone has heard of it? I am not sure if they use it in private medicane or not. Thanks!

Avatar n tn How long is this going to last? Also on norco 10/325 for so long no pain meds work any more including the morphine in the hospital. Has that happened to anyone?
Avatar f tn hi Punkie..........thats a good question and I have the same pain from the buttocks to the hip and radiating to the thigh and down my legs..worse on left side........I have 2 problems and this pain could be caused by either one doctor says one thing the other says different so gets very confusing. 1. it very well could be caused by the bursitis in our hips, although from what I understand that pain should only radiate as far as the thighs and not necessarily down the whole leg. 2.
Avatar m tn Hi I was just looking for everyone's personal opinion regarding my history of pain and narcotic meds. My pain is from DDD, arthritis in my back L4-L5, S1, sciatica left leg and also severe arthritis in my knees and I had to retire early as a Firefighter of 22 years. 10 years ago started on Tylenol 3 and slowly went to Percocet, OxyContin then to morphine MS Contin and statex to dilauded and hydro morphing ER to back to oxycodone and now on fentanyl 37 mcg.
Avatar m tn This lead to numbness down both hands and arms then onto loss off grip and sporadic muscle movements. I know have sciatica, spastic tendencies, hot and cold flushes, finding it hard to urinate. The pain now is so bad i am on tramadol, morphine, neproxin and paracetamol. When i 1st went to the doctors they referred me to neurosurgeon. Then my symptoms got worse. They sent me to hospital for a mri and they reluctantly did a neck one.
1637694 tn?1300358541 Hi. I am so thankful that I came across this board. I've been inspired by a lot of them and now it's my time. I have been on painkillers for over 2 1/2 years from morphine, morphine sulfate, norcos, fentanyl and now it's oxy's. I have a lot of back problems (several disc herniations, permanent nerve damage, athritis and sciatica) and I'm only 28 today. I decided for my birthday this year that I would put an end to this addiction.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have seen my doctor about a month ago and have sciatica. For sciatica I am only on Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I am getting pain still and very locked up. I also take Clonazepam and 10 mg Amitriptyline for cyclic vomiting syndrome (or abdominal migraine). I have been on the same dose for 30 years. I read that taking a higher dose than I am on of Amitriptyline can help back pain. Do you recommend that I ask my doctor for a higher dose to try? Do you think it would bring the pain down some?
Avatar f tn I was recently perscribed morphine for my fibromyalgia and spurs on my spine. My question is does the morphine make you really nauseated and throw up. The last few days the side effects have slowed down, but I would still like to hear some suggestions from people in the forum.
Avatar n tn I'm wondering how long folks waited to have surgery for sciatica. I'm at the 3-month mark and my symptoms are still excruciating. I'm a very active person and can't stand my new almost sedentary lifestyle. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn Ive found the only thing to help is HYDROTHERAPY, your Physio should be able to sort this out for you, if not gentle swimming can help to keep you mobile. Sciatica also travels to the feet, which can lead to a condition called PLANTER FASCITIS, your physio can check you for this, orthotics and exercises can be helpful, also strapping your feet for support. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn s care but my dog is having bladder stones and he is very much unconfortable all night I have to take him downstairs to pee and all the vet has told me is to wait for the results of urine test to beggin treatment meanwhile he gave him Rimadyl for the Hip pain and also some Phenobarbitol for anxiety, but he still cries all the time, I am desperate !
305180 tn?1279716747 Hey there ladies just wondering if anyone has found any kind of relief for Sciatica. My left sciatic nerve is pinched and I can barely walk in the morning when I get up. It takes a good 10 minutes to get to a point where I can walk at least somewhat comfortably. I have only gained about 15 pounds too, so I dont understand why its hurting so bad. Maybe its from lifting somethign heavy last weekend, but since then that left side has been hurting really bad. Any ideas on how to get some relief?
1052851 tn?1307741160 My doctor has me on Fiorinal C1/2 for migraines, and put me on Morphine for severe migraines and severe pain. I have often had to go to the hospital for the migraines, and they give me a shot of what I thought was Morphine in the butt, and after about 1/2 hr it was gone. This last experience, the Morphine did not work, and I ended up taking a bunch of Fiorinal instead. When I spoke to my local hospital, they said they dont give Morphine for migraines but Demerol?
Avatar n tn I have been fighting Sciatica for 6 months. I am unable to stand or sit for any length of time. I had an MRI and had a Cyst removed via needle as out patient along with a steroid injection. I was told one in ten people the procedure would not be successful and happen to that one by a neurosurgeon. I was told they could TRY going in at a different angle and I could TRY steroid epidural. I have been searching for other options and have not found any with concrete results.
Avatar f tn ) And my sciatica was horrendous afterwards. Usually I can just sit on ny birth ball for a bit and it relieves the pressure. Today I was not so lucky. So, I remembered this tip from one of you beautiful ladies and tried it. It worked really REALLY well! So, THANK YOU!
Avatar m tn I am going to meet a neurosurgeon next week. I am so worried About this right now and I am scared if this is sciatica. If that is the case can it be cured permanently, Or do I have to suffer my entire life? Thanks a lot for you kind attention.
647120 tn?1256601651 Today I decided to wean off of morphine and try Ultram for a few weeks. My PM is willing to work with me, so that is a very good thing. She said hydrocodone isn't good because of the Tylenol, like you said, and I am sure she would be willing to help me try low-dose oxycontin or something else if this doesn't work. Thanks for the suggestion. It is probably wishful thinking that I will find the pain level has subsided by now.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had a pump implanted and has it helped? I' dissapointed as to the results. I take morphine sulfate for breakthrough pain. I'm just at a loss at what to do anymore.
Avatar f tn What did u do for relief? Mine went out two years ago and I layed in bed for two months because I couldnt move. Its not that bad this time but im afraid its going to get that bad and I know I cant take anything for it with pregnancy so I was just wondering how some of u got relief?
Avatar f tn But the best thing for me is to lay down and put a tennis ball under your lower back, whichever side the sciatica is on, and roll it around for a few minutes. Then ice it. Hurts so good! lol. Hope that helps!
Avatar m tn He said I tested positive for morphine and negative for xanax. I take 1-2 ,25mg xanax a day-prescribed by him for anxiety. He referred me to pain management and that Dr prescribed me 15 mg Amrix and 50 mg Nucynta ER a day. He said the morphine is not from the Nucynta and that I must not be taking the Xanax or Nucynta that neither one of them showed up. I am not taking Morphine of any kind. I took a Xanax and a Nucynta 3 hours before this appointment.
