1052851 tn?1307741160 My doctor has me on Fiorinal C1/2 for migraines, and put me on Morphine for severe migraines and severe pain. I have often had to go to the hospital for the migraines, and they give me a shot of what I thought was Morphine in the butt, and after about 1/2 hr it was gone. This last experience, the Morphine did not work, and I ended up taking a bunch of Fiorinal instead. When I spoke to my local hospital, they said they dont give Morphine for migraines but Demerol?
Avatar n tn Maxeran ONLY works via injection anyway... it does absolutely nothing for the treatment of migraines if given by tablet. If for some reason you have already taken triptans and strong pain killers prior to going to the hospital, ask for maxeran, even though it is not a triptan or a pain killer, for SOME reason it can completely stop a migraine... they're not sure why (i don't think) but... it works. ^ now, after this, you will find that you are not in pain, or at least..
Avatar f tn I take prescribed medicine for my migraines. It's the only safe one to take while pregnant. It's called Fiorcet. It works great for me.
Avatar m tn I've had migraines daily for 25 years been through it all, tried everything. Heading to a headache clinic shortly. When mine get severe and I have to go in for shots the best I've found so far is a 3 shot combo of toradol, phenagrin and morphine. As for the comment of the narcotics becoming addictive, well. That's a small price to pay to be able to live life somewhat pian free.
Avatar m tn What pain killers for migraines/headaches are most appropriate for those suffering hcv cirrohsis? I get these blinding headaches at times that can last 3 days and am unsure what chemicals provide minimal impact on the liver?
1132246 tn?1260288259 Hi RickiK I too have the worst 'monthly' migraines associated with that time - a few things that I have found help for me are; Taking Mersyndol for 3 days prior to onset of period, I find the muscle relaxant aids greatly, rubbing lots of Super strength Dencorub on my neck, I apply it very liberally, it burns like hell, but it does help and doubling my dose of Magnesium at this time also. Another good product which I like is the Migrastick.
Avatar n tn I would like to find out about the most successful form of treatment for these headaches. Apart from Oxygen Therapy or using Triptan medications. I am interested in finding out more about the lastest treatments which may involve the hypothalamus or any other treatments that are worth trying. You see I had Cluster Migraines and they are the worst things I have ever had to deal with. I've had children and even that pain is nothing compared to these pains from my "clusters".
Avatar f tn Then best was I have found for using cannabis is eating it. It will help with pain more than morphine and is not addictive. Cannabis is a natural Herb not a man made drug! Help yourself and please check it out. God bless you!
Avatar n tn I started taking Omega-3 (fish oil capsules) supplements and red yeast rice for my cholesterol about six years ago. My migraines stopped. It might be worth a try for you, and with the side benefits Omega-3s are well known for.
Avatar f tn So was in the er for horrible migraines has anybody else had this happen? If so what did your doctor say because for me, they didn't say much at the er but to relax drink lots of fluids and rest. I'm scared their might be something more going on.
Avatar m tn Why would your insurance company want you to go on morphine sulfate for chronic migraines? Do you know that the FDA has approved Botox injections for chronic migraine? (Chronic migraine being 15 or more attacks per month). I am sure you would qualify. I got my first series of shots last December and they made a world of difference. You get them every 3 months, and with each succeeding series, they improve even more if they don't cure it overall at once the first time.
Avatar f tn I am 6 Weeks pregnant and have been suffering from terrible migraines. I was given 30mlg. Morphine which I took for about a week, did I put my baby at risk? I'm terrified, please help put my mind at ease.
Avatar f tn I took Demerol and Stadol when pregnant with my first baby for chronic migraines. We moved and I had a different OB for my last two children. I took Darvocet with my second baby and Vicodin with my last. I did not take very much, but probably three - five pills per week. I also received Demerol injections in the ER during all three pregnancies (again for migraines). None of my babies had any withdrawal - and I was able to breastfeed all three.

Avatar f tn I've been clean and sober from morphine for 8 months. I've had 2 back surgeries, have RSD and rheumatoid arthritis, so I'm in constant pain. I've been trying to manage my pain with ultram, but it no longer works. I really don't want to go back to the heavy-hitting opiates, but fear I may not have an alternative. Any suggestions for pain relief? Keep in mind: I've tried PT and just about every drug their is. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I've had chronic migraines my whole life for as long as I can remember and I am 22 years old. We have tried a ton of different shots, pills and liquid medications and treatment for my chronic ongoing migraines, and over all the years I am still unclear on causes and what else to try, I feel like I am crying out for help, I feel like I have tried everything and am out of options!!
886779 tn?1253644204 Well, after 8 years of having 16 mg morphine shots for cluster migraines and neck problems, I had had enough of it, and I wanted to be free from having to go to the doctor every single day of my life for pain control. You will sweat, you will chill, you will ache in your kidney's until you bawl. You will be anxious, hopeless, and suffer from terrible stomach problems. This lasted for over 3 weeks with me before I even began to feel human. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.
1052851 tn?1307741160 Along with the Botox, I still take Fiorinal C1/2 daily for control and in severe migraine situations I have access to either Demerol or Morphine. As I have severe osteoporsis (spelt wrong), I often break my toes and fingers so I use the Morphine and Demerol for when I have to adjust a broken bone....I refuse to go to the hospital for these situtations, and take care of it at home. I will let everyone know if the Botox is working and if I get another treatment.
Avatar n tn I suffer from daily headaches that come from my neck. I also have on average 2 to 3 full blown migraines a month. I know that my headaches and migraines come from 2 leaking disks in my lower neck. I am going to have the surgery very soon. I take pain medication for the neck pain but it doesn't seem to help with the headaches or migraines. The doctor prescribed Fiorecet to me for the headaches. I haven't taken it yet.
Avatar f tn I get migraines 2 to 3 times a month that may last 2-4 days. For the past 4 years I have gotten a morphine with toradol injection that works 95% of the time. I treat only 2 of them in a period of 3-6 weeks. I have tried everything else suggested under the sun (migraines since teen years). With the injection I can be rid of migraine within 1 day without injection they may last up to 4 days.
Avatar f tn I am 23 and have been suffering from intense migraines for about 12 years. Seizuresfor about 3 years, but this isn't about the seizures.
Avatar f tn I have had a "migraine" for over a year now and nothing has helped. I have been on migraine preventatives, gabapentin, morphine, blood pressure meds, anti-anxiety medication, amitryptiline, Thorazine, steroids, you name it I have taken it. I have also had MRI's, CT scans, sinus surgery, lumbar punctures (5) and blood work multiple times. I have seen 3 neurologists, a headache specialist, acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic.... EVERYTHING!

Avatar f tn I know migraines suck. I had one for like 30 hours a few weeks ago.
Avatar f tn The muscles in my bicep, tricep and forearm would tense. The arm would clench, the music would stop and POP, the arm would fly up and out, as if trying to right hook an opponent who wasn't there. Every 60 seconds for two hours -- until just before 3:45 -- I'd swing away into the dark. Until the left arm got in on it. By 7:30 in the morning, I wasn't a championship boxer, I was a retarded pigeon with defective wings.
Avatar m tn No pain medicine, except IV morphine has ever even lessened pain level and it only worked for a few minutes. The ER IV cocktail does nothing but make me tired. The pain level does vary, but never below a 5 out of 10. Definitely get worse when storms come in.
768044 tn?1294223436 t take triptans, like for some patients with heart disease or for some patients that take some very old types of antidepressants called MAOIs (SSRIs and triptans are usually fine but your doctor will tell you if there is a possible interaction or not) or for some people with uncontrolled hypertension, or for migraineurs who take DHE for their migraines at the same time or for people who have hemiplegic or basilar migraine... so... yeah... some people can't take triptans...
