Avatar f tn here in the us as fqr as i know they dont use gas... the most common pain relief for labor is the epidural or meds thru the iv. and it also effect each woman different ive known some womes say they love it me included and some say it did nothing for them.... the name epidural is actually not the meds its the spot where they insert the meds usually they some type of med the is or relatated to morphine and some babies cant tolerate it which is why the heart beat slows...
Avatar f tn Yup I was scared but had to I had my gallbladder removed at 20 weeks pregnant I had to take for pain or couldve went in early labor because of pain and stress I had to be stabilized trust me I didnt want to but it's safe in second trimester baby is formed ..but I didn't abuse medicine problem is baby can get addicted so I rushed to heal and started Tylenol so I didnt continue on narco..scary but safe if needed!
Avatar f tn Morphine is ok too I gof it while in labor tobhelp ease the pain
Avatar f tn If you mean for the labor/birth I got the epidural even though I wasn't going to because I have
Avatar f tn m not really sure. I had some kind of pain medication because I had to wait awhile for my epidural to arrive. Anyways they injected it into my iv. I felt like I was completely drunk. The nurse said it would take the edge off the pain and she was right. I still hurt but it was manageable. The epidural works great usually. Your legs will be numb but usually you feel little to no pain from contractions.
Avatar f tn Is there any other pain med you can get during labor and what would you rate the pain b4 u got the med and what would you rate it when it wore off and when did it wear off?
Avatar f tn I had a natural birth. I think the best time to decide is long before you go into labor. Of course when you're in the midst of labor and you're in pain you'll beg for anything to make it easier...
Avatar f tn I had back and stomach labor. And i was fine. Only had morphine during labor. It all depends on the person.
1052851 tn?1307741160 My neurologist told me that opiates in general do not work for migraine pain for many people. But, some opiates do work for my migraine pain. I have never been given demerol before though. Morphine, personally, makes my migraine pain worse because it aggravates all of the nausea symptoms. Morphine tends to have a very high side-effect profile in terms of stomach upset and nausea... and, when it comes to migraines... well, you know how it is.
7819795 tn?1394500455 When you want into labor. What did you do for the pain meds. I really don't want to get the epidural bc I am scared of needles. And there is other reasons to.
647120 tn?1256601651 When I started seeing a pain manager for chronic leg pain last fall, she said it was nerve pain without doing any diagnostics. She put me on morphine, and I've had ups and downs with it. Now I am considering going back to square one by weening off of morphine and seeing what my pain level is. It is almost a year since I had L4-5 spinal fusion, and I hate the side effects, costs, and stigma that go with taking this class of drugs. Has anyone tried this? What was your experience?
Avatar f tn I have been told that this is due to pain meds. I have been on pain meds for approx 5 years and I have been on darvocet to pecocet. and now I have graduated to morphine. I just need to give it some time and it will calm down. Again Thank You for you advice and I promse to keep on working on this.
Avatar f tn I think its because I havnt started labour yet - but while I wait for labour to begin im in so much pain already.
Avatar f tn ^ they will give you morphine if you're allergic to Demerol (which I am). Are you allowed to walk around? What position are you giving birth in? My midwife doesn't give drugs for the pain, but she will coach on position changes, which help ease the pain of labor. I'm also planning on a water birth, because it will be a lot more relaxing I think.
Avatar f tn I clearly remember having my just born daughter placed on my chest for the first time and just feeling numb...before labor every time I tried to picture this moment I started crying and now that it was here there was nothing...it was like all the pain and trauma of labor turned my emotional switch off...
647120 tn?1256601651 Hello again Busygrl, Yes for most ppl the meth and morphine both help with sleep for two reasons. One it eases your pain allowing you to rest better. And two they have a sedative effect. You have to be v-e-r-y careful when taking a muscle relaxant with Methadone, Morphine or any other major opiate. Indeed I would not take them together. I know there are ppl that do. My physician says if I take one of the "Big Digs" I cannot take my muscle relaxant with it.
7157499 tn?1411821385 Aww congrats! Lucky you with a fast labor too. I'm hoping this one is a bit shorter, even though my last one was on the short side of average. It was an extremely long labor for my family!
5807499 tn?1383275275 I had IV drugs first time. (I've done it all lol IV, epidural and all natural) I swore after my experience with the IV I wouldn't ever have it again. I still kinda think my mean nurse overdosed me and my reaction wasn't typical but here is what happened with me was it started burning my arm immediately when my nurse injected it into my arm. About 10 minutes later i started laughing for no reason. Continued to laugh uncontrollably for about anhour after that.
