Common Questions and Answers about Morphine for animals

Avatar n tn DO not give your dog any human medication!!!! Many of these cause the opposite effects in animals (ie morphine in cats) so you will cause your dog more suffering I would not recomend you ever trying to do this yourself. Im assuming you have a routine vet registered for your dog. In the UK they will 'put down' suffering animals and send you the bill later (giving you some time to save some money to pay it). Is that not an option?
787406 tn?1339203183 Morphine, hydromorphone, oxymorphone, tramadol, oxycontin and other drugs in this class are not uncommonly used for pain in animals. Dose frequency, available forms and sizes, route of administration, onset and duration of action and other considerations play into the choice of pain reliever. I would need to know more about why your dog is on pain relief medication to comment, as there must be more going on than kidney disease. Thank you. Sincerely, Dr.
Avatar f tn Believe me, i want to get rid of the cats. But i don't even mess with them. They're my husband's cats. He takes care of them i do not. They just like to annoy me. I honestly only take care of my dog, turtles, and our fish. But like i said, there's absolutely no animals allowed in my baby's room. None have ever gone in there and probably won't ever go in there. I'm keeping my baby away from the animals for quite a while.
8110498 tn?1397344782 Ok so I have a small dog, she is a weenie dog mix. I've had her for 6 yrs and I have a five yr old daughter. I never had any problems with the dog. But ever since I found out I'm prego with # 2 she has been acting out.... Potting in the house, tearing up trash, eating my food if I sit out down to go to restroom ect... Has anyone else had there animals act like this while they were prego? Idk what to do with my dog I luv her very much but I don't need the added stress.......
10201748 tn?1419748841 but yes i recomend the blanket thing to people with both dogs and cats so that way the smell isnt a shock to them...but most animals usually adjust very quickly...
7552244 tn?1393364737 My cat never slept with me in my room he would always sleep in my moms room on her spare pillow with his blanket and ever since ive been pregnant hes never left my side! He throws fits when I leave my room for more than 5 minutes and he nudges my stomach almost all the time every day. Has anyone noticed a change or is it just me?
Avatar f tn Or, explain how you are feeling and ask your partner to step up to the plate with her. For him to do more to care for the dog and have the dog fall more under his responsibilities. AND< perhaps a good dog trainer would be in order. A dog should go to the bathroom outside only and learn manners and if you tell them to sit and stay that they do it. so, I'd get some dog training for your pooch to see if that helps. My dog is one of the joys of my life.
Avatar f tn Are your cat's in heat
Avatar f tn Anyone else feel so much closer to their animals now? I have a 8 month old kitten and before I got pregnant she didn't want anything to do with me, now she's constantly all over me and if any body squirts her with the spray bottle I get extremely defensive and she's always wanting to be near/on my belly. Just wondering if anyone else is going through this?
Avatar f tn Does anyone else have any animals that are glued to them?
7989976 tn?1403493624 It is quite weird. They knew I was pregnant before I did. Its weird to think about.
Avatar f tn I am sure some of you have animals. I have a sweet black cat and a tiny chihuahua that is a bit crazy. My boyfriend wants to get rid of them before the baby gets here which I think is ridiculous honestly. I have had these two their whole lives and they are my first children. He is worried about them not adjusting to or hurting the baby which I understand but on the other hand I am aware there will be an adjustment period just like we have.
Avatar f tn i was just wondering if anyone knows if it's true or has experiencing with their animals sensing when labor was close? I have a husky and she's usually a spoiled brat, she doesn't like to cuddle and she don't lay be me. She stays at the end of the bed or on the floor but yesterday and today she has been laying by me and curling up right against me. Just wondering if maybe she knows it's coming?
Avatar f tn My chihuahua will sit and and look at me and just start crying and howling for no reason. And if I walk outside she freaks out and cries she has to literally be with me at all times. Could this mean labor soon? I just don't get why they are being so weird.
Avatar f tn i wanted opinions about my dog. I don't know I animals can tell UR pregnant but my dog just follows me all ova my house. I'm mean more than usual since I've been pregnant. I'm 15w 3d i mean its to the point where I almost trip on her. If I kick her out my room n close the door she will just lay right outside my door TIL I open it. If she's in my room she lays right nxt to my bed to where I gotta step ova her to get up. Sometimes I don't even know she's there.
Avatar f tn My animals are so funny now! My horse is mad at me my dog is obsessed with me. My goats follow me Around like I'm their mom. My donkey loves me to death! Any other mamas find that their animals act strange especially later in pregnancy?
3112100 tn?1379614659 So I've heard some people say animals can sense labors near... Has any of yu ladies animals sense labor? Nd if so how did they act? My cat lately has been like stuck to my belly.. everytime I'm layin on my side she comes up nd lays by my belly like pretty much holding my belly nd usually she's up by my head wen she sleeps..
Avatar f tn oh FOR SURE THESE ARE VET PRESCRIBED and NOT anyone just using their own prescriptions.....Vets use human meds as well as animal specific meds.... NEVER EVER give your meds to any animal...the difference in weight/size and metabolism will vary tremendously between us and them..... ALWAYS follow a dosage laid out by your Vet.....than fill out the kitties rx at your human pharmacy... Jeez I sure hope this original poster wasn't considering doing his own prescribing...
Avatar f tn I was recently perscribed morphine for my fibromyalgia and spurs on my spine. My question is does the morphine make you really nauseated and throw up. The last few days the side effects have slowed down, but I would still like to hear some suggestions from people in the forum.
Avatar m tn s care but my dog is having bladder stones and he is very much unconfortable all night I have to take him downstairs to pee and all the vet has told me is to wait for the results of urine test to beggin treatment meanwhile he gave him Rimadyl for the Hip pain and also some Phenobarbitol for anxiety, but he still cries all the time, I am desperate !
1052851 tn?1307741160 My doctor has me on Fiorinal C1/2 for migraines, and put me on Morphine for severe migraines and severe pain. I have often had to go to the hospital for the migraines, and they give me a shot of what I thought was Morphine in the butt, and after about 1/2 hr it was gone. This last experience, the Morphine did not work, and I ended up taking a bunch of Fiorinal instead. When I spoke to my local hospital, they said they dont give Morphine for migraines but Demerol?
Avatar m tn , even though I thought I had made it clear that it was because Reese got out of the yard, and I thought I made it clear that this is not just for attacking animals but for all animals, does it seem like I am wanting and trying to punish all animals and owners because of what happened to Reese?
647120 tn?1256601651 Today I decided to wean off of morphine and try Ultram for a few weeks. My PM is willing to work with me, so that is a very good thing. She said hydrocodone isn't good because of the Tylenol, like you said, and I am sure she would be willing to help me try low-dose oxycontin or something else if this doesn't work. Thanks for the suggestion. It is probably wishful thinking that I will find the pain level has subsided by now.

Avatar m tn He said I tested positive for morphine and negative for xanax. I take 1-2 ,25mg xanax a day-prescribed by him for anxiety. He referred me to pain management and that Dr prescribed me 15 mg Amrix and 50 mg Nucynta ER a day. He said the morphine is not from the Nucynta and that I must not be taking the Xanax or Nucynta that neither one of them showed up. I am not taking Morphine of any kind. I took a Xanax and a Nucynta 3 hours before this appointment.
