Morphine extended release

Common Questions and Answers about Morphine extended release

avinza

Avatar m tn Since she is on extended release she can only go down to one. Should she spread the one out farther apart, or, as someone suggested, maybe go on norcos so she can reduce further (.5, .25, etc.).
Avatar f tn Yes- there is extended release morphine- HOWEVER- you can not and should NEVER cut/bite/half extended release medications. They are meant to deliver a consistent level of medication over a specific time period. Cutting/biting/breaking them in half dumps the entire dose into your system at one and can result in exactly what you are experiencing - and accidental overdose/death.
725248 tn?1316162245 Have you tried the extended release formula for Dilaudid? A new extended release formulation (OROSĀ®) of Hydromorphone is available and I believe it is more afforable than the Fentanyl. Here is link about the medication... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2697506/ I wish you the best of luck. With today's economy we have to get what we can afford.
981443 tn?1250115802 The duration of action and metabolic half-life of oxymorphone mean that immediate-release tablets are more similar to analgesic preparations of methadone, levorphanol, piritramide, and existing extended-relase forms of morphine, oxycodone, ketobemidone and so on.
Avatar m tn What is MS Contin and what is MS/IR. They are both morphine? Does the Contin mean extended release and the IR mean immediate release. The MS/IR also has the letters IMN REO. I'm trying to find out if the MS/IR can be cut in half for tapering. Thanks to all that reply.

Avatar m tn Hi there.. Kadian IS morhpine...It's just in extended release form. I'm confused on where you say you are 'ok with regimen now'...As in you are ok with the Kadian and you aren't having bad dreams? The morphine by IV that you get in the hospital after a surgery is much stronger than anything in pill form. Obviously medication can have side effects and yes...bad dreams can be one of them.
Avatar f tn I do not know if you are still in need of this info, but last year when i was 19 weeks pregnant i ended up with a kidney stone twice. Finally i was put on Morphine extended release 60mg twice a day and 15mg immediate release in between. I was on this for the last 3 months of my pregnancy. I was very concerned about what this would do to my baby, but my OB reassured me that he would be OK.

Avatar m tn I have been taking 60 mg. extended release morphine twice daily for 3.5 months. I have had issues for 30 years with anxiety and depression but it flared up almost immediately after I began the morphine. Normally the anxiety resolves itself within a few weeks but this time it has persisted and continues on. Could it be caused by the morphine? This is my thought but the pharmacist said he didn't think it was. Also my doctor is suggesting 8 tylenol a day to replace the morphine.
Avatar m tn Has anyone had the expierence of withdrawing from Extended Release Morphine Sulphate Tables, ie. MS Contin. Did you taper off or given another med to replace the morphine. how long were the withdrawels and how bad were they.
Avatar f tn It was the Morphine! Since I had taken short-acting Morphine before but never the extended release that had caused the whole mess, the consensus was that it was a reaction to the extending agent. I have to get more blood work done this week before I can start a different controlled release med but they put me on extra of my normal short acting med to get me through. Besides some headaches and general anxiety, I'm doing okay.
Avatar f tn MS Contin is Morphine Sulphate. The "ER" is Extended Release while the "IR" is Immediate Release. The word "contin" is simply short for "continuous" which may be the reason you got confused since it is also used with Oxycodone which comes in the form of Oxycontin hence the "contin" also meaning "continuous" for the Oxycodone. Hope this helped you. Godspeed my friend.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried the extended releExtended release Xanaxase Xanax? I know it has been on the market for a bit but I haven't heard any feedback.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Has anyone tried extended release Topamax or Topiramate? It is called Trokedi XR. I am going to try it because my memory is so bad on Topamax. My neurologist said it might be better with Trokedi XR but it is very expensive. So if you can tell me before I buy it I would appreciate any feedback.
Avatar f tn anyone have any problems with Avinza? (morphine sulfate extended release). My dr said that it had an antagonist that made it non addictive. He prescribed it to me alone with Norco (high dosage)- I stopped taking both, and it's been 6 weeks, but I'm still struggling.

Avatar f tn Hyslinga is extended release hydrocodone. If vicodin was an effective opiate for you previously, changing over to Hyslinga may work well for you. There are dosage adjustments made for cross tolerance when switching from one opiate to another, so there should be little to no issues regarding withdrawal.
Avatar f tn TAKING BROKEN, CHEWED, DISSOLVED, OR CRUSHED MORPHINE SULFATE EXTENDED-RELEASE TABLETS LEADS TO RAPID RELEASE AND ABSORPTION OF A POTENTIALLY FATAL DOSE OF MORPHINE." Is the reason you are wanting to stop injecting these pills solely because you are moving back with your ex and your boys and you don't want them to know? I had so many red flags go up when I read your questions....the recurring abscesses.....the fevers...your declining health.
