Hi yes it is normal behavior for Morphine, when you first start it your on top of the world then comes irritation and depression and even nightmares for some.

Try taking about half the prescribed dose to see if the nausea recedes, and gradually add back to the prescribed dose. You may end up doing better with a synthetic opioid like oxycontin rather than morphine. However, morphine is much cheaper than any of the synthetics, so if you can gradually increase to an effective dose with the morphine, so much the better.
Take 25% of those morphine mg per hour numbers above and that will yield the bioavailability of morphine (i.e.,how much of the dose in the pill is actually active towards relieving your pain). Don't let the bioavailability fool you into thinking you are not getting enough medication for your pain. Bioavailabilities can be extremely low and still provide sufficient pain relief as the manufacturer puts enough mgs in the pill to ensure the patient is receiving a therapeutic dose.
Oxymorphone was not detected in any specimen from high-dose morphine or high-dose hydromorphone patients. The authors conclude, based on these data, that oxymorphone is not a metabolite of morphine or hydromorphone.
I wish I had better answers for you. I am not super knowledgeable in Chemistry. This was not imperative some years ago - so I am learning. All I can do is research for metabolites and UDS various results - though I do understand when I read them.

Hi all, I have been taking morphine IR 30 mg 3 pills 3 times a day for about 5 years and extended relief morphine 100 mg. twice a day. My primary dr. Has been concerned about my stomach and liver. She's been wanting me to lower dose for a while. Was in hospital dec.3 for stomach issues and they gave me 2 30 mg. morphine twice a day and 2mg dilaudid twice a day. That seemed ok but was in hospital. Well when I went to see primary dr.
using narcotics during detox is not a real good idea as it is not defined as a detox if u r taking them....it will prolong this even longer if u continue...what was ur original dose? and DOC?...u may have needed to taper down a bit if it was a high dose...if u detox and quit taking narcotics the amount u used daily and the DOC can help determine how long til u feel better plus age, nutrional status and other things....1 week for most...2 weeks for some til the physical symptoms are gone...
they said the lethal dose is 100-300 mg of morphine sulfate, what i took in was 600 mg. however, on the bottle is clearly states 30mL and 20 mg per mL. i drank it all.
then they said i must have vomitted it all out before it took effect. this isn't true. it was hrs before i even felt sick, more than enough time for the morphine to get into my blood stream.
either way, i am happy to be alive. i am not , as i already said, a drug user. i took it because i was in pain, it was convienent.
I pretty much thought it had something to do with the morphine. Any advice? He needs it for his back. My view is morphine is probably better than any other of the narcotic analgesics because it is the most natural and has been around for centuries. I certainly would not want him on oxycontin or fentanyl. Is Opana ER any better? Need advice from doctor preferably or someone who has an idea what they are talking about regarding this matter.
Battery replacement depends on the dose of morphine you are taking and how often the program on your pump is administering the medication. The pump I was to be getting was a Medtronic's pump and the have a terrific site

From what I understand grapefruit can increase the dose.
Before that it was prescribed methadone and loratab. I also have prscribed morphine. I have been taking half for two days and taking whatever is necessary to sleep. My question is can i be withdrawing from the oc's while taking morphine?
i have been on morphine sulfate slow release 60mg 3times daily for 7 years. now i need surgery but cant get it until i can get off the morphine. i also take 15mg 6 times daily and cant get my doc to take me off. i need a safe wayto get off this terrible drug but he only says i need it and wont help me . does anyone know of a doc who can help me. i am desperate.
It won't out-right harm you, but Xanax is very addictive and you want to use as little of it as possible.
You do have some choices here. You can ask for a dose increase, stay on your current dose or give the morphine a try, a very low dose to start off with.
Do you have a good relationship with your Dr? That's so important. They need to know how well you're doing on your medications and what your pain levels are.

Generally when converting between opiates, doctors will reduce the new medication strength by a certain percentage to account for incomplete cross tolerance, which is a boost in analgesia you get from rotating from one kind of opiate to another.
You can find equal analgesic tables, and apps for calculating equivalent dosing online.
It is usual and customary to prescribe a long acting opiate such as MS Contin instead of just morphine and than prescribe another short acting opiate such as Oxycodone for break through pain. You are on a small dose of Morphine. Maybe a larger long acting dose would eb more beneficial. Or did I misunderstand and you are you on the long acting morphine? If not you may want to ask your physician about it.
Another consideration is the Percocet.
