I have been on a high dose of Methadone for a number of years for Chronic pain. I go to a clinic but recently asked my doctor if he would take over my care and switch me from going to the clinic, over to a time released morphine pill I can take once or twice a day. He won't write me Methadone and is reluctant to do it at all because he's never had a patient that he's had to transfer from methadone to a morphine pill before .

I felt like I was going to vommit and I couldn't stand the pain. After being in the ER for 6.5 hours the dr couldn't find anything wrong with me. They sent me home in more pain than I was in before.
Should liquid morphine and fentanyl patches be withdrawn slowly, I am also on psychiatric medication as I suffer from manic depression. I am very concerned that the abrupt stopping of theese medications may bring on a severe depression. Should theese medications be gradually taken away with reducing dosage over a period of time?

My second question I would be grateful fro help with is that a lady I know who sufferes severe pain from degenerative bone disease is prescribed Morphine IR and Oxycodone.
She tells me this combination works well for her.

About 1 month ago my pain management doctor increased my dosage of morphine sulfate from 10 gm to 30 mg (1 every 12 hours). Shortly after I began taking the 30mg morphine sulfate, I started to develop a slight rash. Over the last week, the rash has become much worse and a real problem. I've been taking over the counter benadryl tabs to get some relief from the rash which is helping a little to relief the itching and rash.
The 50 patch is more in line with your previous 60 morphine sulfate, plus some break through meds, dosage. The problem most have with the patches is that they do not last three days, only two for most people.
See if your insurance company and doctor will allow you to do a 2 day dosage, vs the std 3 day.
Hello. Can morphine cause a person to have shiver like symptoms when their dosage is wearing off?
Can morphine also cause a person to feel warmer or hot and sweaty then go to feeling cold like or shiver like when u need another dosage or is this a drug addiction or all three situations?

I just spent 8 days in the hospital. I was given 15mg of morphine every hour. They released me
with nothing and that is fine. Accept I feel like I am dieing. I am so scared, I dont know what is

The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................
My husband takes morphine pills and if he does not wash his hands after taking them, if he touches anything in the house can it be passed on to anyone if they touch what he has touch? and can they have a bad urine test?
I went to the drs today and explained that the oxy 15s I was prescribed were not working as well as the 10/325s I was on so my dr. gives me morphine 30 mgs I have taken a few they dont seem very strong either. For those of you who have been through a total thyroidectomy, I know that you fast from midnight on, and then they said it's a liquid diet the next day. I am prediabetic and have reactive hypoglycemia, and it's bad so I need to eat every 2 hrs. or so. (very difficult for me to fast) I don't eat any sugar or artificial sweetners. I have some low glycemic fruit, but fruit juices are too full of sugar. What type of liquids do they give you?
