I have never heard of it until just recently and am curious about it. I take Morphine 60mg ER three times a day and Oxycodone 15 mg IR every 6 hours for breakthrough pain. In the past, I have taken Dilaudid and wondered if Opana was similar to that in formulation? Also, it seems as though my meds are not as effective at controlling my pain as they were when I started taking them a year ago. Is it possible that I may already need a higher dosage?
About 1 month ago my pain management doctor increased my dosage of morphine sulfate from 10 gm to 30 mg (1 every 12 hours). Shortly after I began taking the 30mg morphine sulfate, I started to develop a slight rash. Over the last week, the rash has become much worse and a real problem. I've been taking over the counter benadryl tabs to get some relief from the rash which is helping a little to relief the itching and rash.
The 50 patch is more in line with your previous 60 morphine sulfate, plus some break through meds, dosage. The problem most have with the patches is that they do not last three days, only two for most people.
See if your insurance company and doctor will allow you to do a 2 day dosage, vs the std 3 day.
I just spent 8 days in the hospital. I was given 15mg of morphine every hour. They released me
with nothing and that is fine. Accept I feel like I am dieing. I am so scared, I dont know what is
normal withdraw if I need a Dr. or what....
The morphine is actually much less problematic than the oxycodone. You should be comfortable taking the morphine and not the oxy.................
I have been on a high dose of Methadone for a number of years for Chronic pain. I go to a clinic but recently asked my doctor if he would take over my care and switch me from going to the clinic, over to a time released morphine pill I can take once or twice a day. He won't write me Methadone and is reluctant to do it at all because he's never had a patient that he's had to transfer from methadone to a morphine pill before .
So I'm on the Fentanyl 25mcg patch, switched from 180mg of Morphine ER because of tolerance. As I've said here before, but reiterating for those who may not know, it doesn't work for me. The Fentanyl that is. It was pointed out that the dosage is most likely low and I should be on the 50mcg patch, but I'm not a big fan of the patch in general.

I just joined & have a few questions. I am 38 yrs old & have been in pain management for 10+ yrs now due to a MVA. I recently started to have trouble with my liver (no hep c) anyway I currently take morphine 30mg 3 times a day & 30 mg MSIR 3 times a day or as needed.
Earlier this year when I switched from morphine to Opana ER, I noticed that the conversion added 60 mg of morphine to my current dosage and I discussed this with my doctor to make sure that he wanted to increase my dosage by that much when switching me from morphine to Opana ER and he confirmed that he did.
I went to the drs today and explained that the oxy 15s I was prescribed were not working as well as the 10/325s I was on so my dr. gives me morphine 30 mgs I have taken a few they dont seem very strong either. I was told I was not allowed to switch for a while. I will have to just make them work. will they start working better in a while or am I just stuck on then?
My mother who has cronic back and shoulder pain is being taken off of fentanyl 100mcg patch and 7.5/500mg and being put on morphine 60mg 2x daily and then morphine sulfate 15mg every 4 hours for breakthough pain. What I'm wondering is there going to be withdrawl or is the morphine going to have enough of the same stuff in it. If not what kind of withdrawl systems will there be to watch for.
I would really like to know if anyone has taken morphine in pregnancy and upon giving birth if their baby had with drawls or not AND what dosage PLEASE!
I have heard a few moms say they were taking Oxycontin 40mg three times a day with no baby withdrawals, but did not know if morphine was the same.

Although 12 hrs have passed,but still clinical examination from a doctor is mandatory to rule out any morphine overdose. Morphine overdose occurs when a person intentionally or accidentally takes too much of the medicine.
