1751415 tn?1315069443 Hello! I wanted to thank you for the information on Morphine. I neglected to mention that it was not the hospice nurse but the nurse from the nursing home. We will mention this. I know that they use a Fentanyl (hope I'm spelling it correctly) patch and morphine by mouth. They were giving him the patch with Vicodin but I guess because his pain was increasing they switched to Morphine. We are due to have a conference this week. Again, thank you!
Avatar f tn Imaging modalities such as CTscan or MRI will help rule out pathology or secondary headaches. Morphine is usually excreted into human milk in trace amounts and adverse effects in the nursing infant are unlikely. Morphine is considered compatible with breast-feeding by the American Academy of Pediatrics. (ref: http://www.drugs.com/pregnancy/morphine.html#ixzz0vbMEgeUz). Aside from medications, another option is complementary and alternative medicine including biofeedback techniques.

Avatar n tn the nursing home the doctor that was in the nursing home and some of the nurses said that i was not ready to leave yet; but because of the insurance company, but it really didn't matter, because they only walk me six times the whole time and it i was suppost walk every day. To make matter worse they had me on every pain meds you could think of and then send me home with nothing.
Avatar f tn The doctors was saying he had dementia. We took him home and it took about 3 days for the affects of the morphine to wear off. And for about two years he didn't hallucinate, he just had short term memory loss. Then four weeks ago he fell. He broke his shoulder blade and a rib at home. We took him to the hospital and they gave him morphine and the hallucinations were back. I swore that the morphine was making him hallucinate but the doctors said it was dementia.

Avatar n tn I have taken care of him (Primary) as well as my husband and now my son for the last 3 years and Hospice a year and a half. He has no use of his legs or hands since the first 6months. He was in a Nursing home but we brought him home In the last few months I have watched his urine change color to amber then bloody looking to normal yellow. He coughs at times. We have suction Machine but nothing else other than oxygen to help him for He has a DNR order ( do not resuscitate.

Avatar m tn It is Christmas and dad is weaker at tendercare nursing home, His blood sodium and chloride are elevated, Dad sleeps a lot and is dehydrated, I will ask nurse to give him half cup of water every two hours seems nursing home neglects you once you no longer are alert, he also pockets food in his mouth. Very sad what is happening. Not sure who to blame.
1794671 tn?1338795391 It is bad and inconcsistent so I am pretty much always on norco and the morphine. I stopped the morphine 8 months ago when I found out I was pregnant and now I am 2 weeks away from having my scheduled c-section and my dr insists that it is quite allright that I am taking the norco and I should stop stressing but something tells me I should just stop a week beforehand... but I am so scared of being in pain. The pain that I have been feeling without themorphine is bad but the norco helps..

Avatar f tn I once had a severe migraine while I was TTC and ended up in emerg. They administered morphine rather than other migraine drugs because it was safest to use in pregnancy. I also just watched an episode of Life's Birth Stories (like yesterday morning) where the woman who was pregnant suffered physical disabilities with severe pain and was on morphine. The baby was born fully intact, but did suffer withdrawal and had to be weaned. Once weaned, however, they said the baby was fine.
1051214 tn?1255828242 I was on morphine and vomiting.....they said it was the anesthiesa....I have had several surgeries recently and never had this kind of reaction....the new item was the morphine...she was determined to get it fixed and she did....she even readjusted the schedule for all my meds which helped me feel so much better.
Avatar f tn Anyone that's already had their baby, what can you take for migraine while breast feeding? Besides Tylenol it's worthless. I've had this migraine since Thursday and I don't want to go to quick care, they'll give me a morphine shot and idk If it's safe while nursing? Any advice is appreciated I know I'm in the wrong place but nobody answers the bf forum...
Avatar m tn Normally the anxiety resolves itself within a few weeks but this time it has persisted and continues on. Could it be caused by the morphine? This is my thought but the pharmacist said he didn't think it was. Also my doctor is suggesting 8 tylenol a day to replace the morphine. I am so skeptical of it being adequate though I know I can manage less than the 60 mg of morphine now. What are your thoughts?
Avatar n tn I am not sure what the circumstances are that surround your situation, but I do know that strokes are caused by a blood clot or a brain bleed. My mom just had 2 strokes and they actually gave her a morphine pump for her head because it hurt so bad. I do not think they would have done that if there was a chance it would cause more strokes. Keep doing your research though, I guess you never know!
Avatar m tn t give up on this, you have to advocate for your dad. Ask the nursing home who is the doctor caring for him and ask to speak with him/her and find out why his pain is not controlled. When my son was in the hospital his pain was not controlled nor was his vomiting. They told me he would go home like that??? It was an intern who stopped by and she told me to forget what the other doctor said, she was going to control my son's pain and vomiting.
Avatar f tn Epidural carries more risk to mama than baby. But demerol and morphine don't typically harm the baby, just give some initial problems sometimes.
Avatar f tn I would be on the safe side and go get checked out. Morphine is a really strong drug especially if your pregnant.hope it all turns out good.
Avatar f tn Still have four more herniated discs from degenerate disc and also stenosis. Lots of pain but 150mg Morphine a day does the trick. Willing to give antidepressant a try......
Avatar m tn Morphine is a terrible one to quit ct....and I doubt that the Doc would want to prescribe enough Norco's to do the job...make certain the taper is long and slow....nausea and vomiting are solid w/d symptoms. Stay well hydrated unless you like your fluid I.V. - most of the MS prescribed outpatient these days is MSContin - morphine sulfate continuos release.
Avatar f tn He was very nice and helpful. He gave me morphine extended release 30mg tables and I need to take those 3x a day. I asked him about pregnancy and this medication. He said that there is always a chance of compilations. He said he has seen several patients that have gotten pregnant on this medication, some have tapered off of it and some continued to stay in this medication.
