42 am, she was administered morphine and robinul x 1 stat. She instantly died. Did the combination, that close together have any possibility of causing her death?

was on klonpin 11 yrs prior to xanax.. but just methadone and xanax since 04...i know about the mix or my combo vey well on very low doses of each..the xanax 0.5 5aday..methadone 10 mgs aday..was at 1 time 160 mgs i detoxed at home 2 yrs ago..got away from it 45 days then back at the dose im at..now the questshion?? my shrink has added lamictail to my combo,,i asked him if it would had any further respatory depression..he just kinda nodded his head..wating oin his nest 8 min patient..

If a person is on procainamide to control their arrhythmia, can or should they be given methadone to wean them off of morphine? This person had surgery so morphine was given for pain not because of an addiction. From my research, I don't think these drugs should be mixed. I'm trying to understand why the doc would want to do this. Docs not providing clear answer and seems to be avoiding me. I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

ve been in withdrawals now for 5 weeks. I was taking 20 to 25mg of methadone per day. He changed me to morphine and then to fentanyl patches 50mcg. He now has me wearing 2 at a time. He says it withdrawals. I don't know. I've never felt this way. I don't know if that's it or I'm having side effects from the new drugs.

Why not try ( with medical supervision) and find a sufficient dose of methadone to mitigate the oxy and morphine withdrawals and then taper of the methadone alone. Its fuzzy logic to try and treat them all separately when they could all be brought under the methadone umbrella. Most reputable medical detox facility would laugh at the notion of treating an opiate addict with 3 different opiate/opioids.

taper and will is the only way been quiting and relasping for years now and i tried sub and tapers and sub is the worst wd ever and taper ***** to but not as bad best way if you really want to quit im down to only 4 lors a day great for me not blowing my bank account out anymore

and or opinions on how to switch from 180 mg of methadone per day (60mg / 8 hr) to morphine.....my doctor retired and no pain clinics will do that much methadone.....the new pain clinic wants me to take (30 mg of long acting morphine) with (10 mg of methadone) every 8 hrs.....(30 mg methadone total per day)...(90 mg morphine total per day)....the problem is getting down to 30 mg of methadone...been on at least 100 mg of methadone for 25 years ...

I got pregnant in 2010 with my first son and was using oxycotoin, soon as i found out i wss pregnant i got on methadone. When he was born i was on 95ml and he came out fine and only scored up to 2. I have been on methadone since then and just had another boy that was born jan 29 2014, i was on 75ml and his score was all the way to 15 before they decieded to put him on morphine.

I know pain mgt docs often perscribe methadone and oxy together I believe to help offset the addiction-methadone is essentially a medication used to help stop withdrawls from heroin but has pain-relieving proerties to it.Supposedly without the "high" (although there are plenty here that will attest otherwise).Not sure if this answered your question?Do a little research on the health pages as well as read some of the other posts...there is much to be learned hre so stay with us!

If you are taking Morphine for a couple of months and the doctor changes you to Methadone, will the Methadone prevent withdrawal symptoms normally experienced from stopping the Morphine?

m confused about though is why when I have switched from the meth to the morphine and have already lowered my morphine dose ahead of schedule, I am not experiences more withdrawal. I mean I know I wouldn't go into full blown methadone withdrawal as I have taken some morphine but it seems it should be worse. I know everyone is different and meth has a long half-life it just seems I can taper off the morphine pretty easily so far and not switch to the sub if I keep feeling this way.

Have you talked to both your pain management and ob/gyn about replacing your morphine with Methadone? Methadone is prescribed for moderate to severe pain but is also and opiate blocker. Their pamphlet says there have been no official studies on the effects on a baby HOWEVER, of those taking the methadone who were pregnant, they suffered no side effects, birth defects or dependency by the baby. How much morphine were you on and for how long? I always heard morphine and methadone were the two hardest for the physical WD's. It may last a little longer than if it was perc's or lortab's or maybe even oxy because the half life may be longer on morphine but regardless you have to be through the worst of it. From what I have read day 14 is the day to shoot for.

Yes although dosage and frequency of usage does matter. In my experience morphine, high dosage oxycontin and methadone are the most effective (and the most addicting) pain killers.

I have several chronic pain conditions and have been on heavy duty pain meds for years. I have been weaning off as fast as I can as I was planning on getting pregnant next year sometime. However... life throws you surprises and well here I am. I am on methadone and morphine. I'm down to only 5-10mg of methadone and 15-30mg of morphine daily. I am still having pain and need some amount to make life tolerable. However I know it's horrible for baby! Any tips?

mike, don't be embarrassed. your body built up a tolerance to the drugs. i weigh 120 pounds and on any given night at work i could easily inject 300-400mg of demerol, 60-90mg of morphine and 16-20mg of dilaudid. i am still amazed that i'm still alive. i don't ever want to go down that path again. talk about withdrawal hell. i lived through it and hope i never have to feel like that again.

Sounds like you need a cleanse, antioxidants, probiotics, fiber and exercise. You can either blame the morphine or do the above and feel better.

he has severe pain throughout his body but mainly his back and legs but the morphine seemed to heighten the symptoms and only slightly take the pain away. we were together 2 and a half years and i was his life really i.e. meant the world to him.
