Avatar m tn I was recently in the hospital for 10 days, I was in there for a kidney stone, and to manage the pain I was on a steady dose of morphine and toradol, for the ten days until I could get booked into a surgical suite. I have been out of the hospital for 6 days now, and I am attempting to return to work, but I am having a really hard time with my memory, I can not remember simple details from the weeks before this happened, and I can not seem to get my mind around simple tasks.
Avatar f tn I was only taking morphine for 3 to 4 weeks. At first I was taking Morphine 15mg ER and then 30mg ER. It may be something else according to my dr. He is now sending me to a neurologist for some tests for possible fluid on the brain. I have short-term memory loss, balance problems and other problems to numerous to tell.
647120 tn?1256601651 My memory is becoming faulty to such an extent that I got up this morning and my kids were talking about a movie we watched last night and I had absolutely no recollection of what they described. My memory loss and inability to see things right in front of my eyes has been a running joke, but today it feels like a crisis. All I want to do is sleep to escape and right now, just cry. It seems that the Effexor was doing an important job after all.

I haven't got my memory back yet, it causes a lot of problem's w my relationship's bc I don't remember thing's I say and do and I repeat myself all day, every day. Avatar f tn The doctors was saying he had dementia. We took him home and it took about 3 days for the affects of the morphine to wear off. And for about two years he didn't hallucinate, he just had short term memory loss. Then four weeks ago he fell. He broke his shoulder blade and a rib at home. We took him to the hospital and they gave him morphine and the hallucinations were back. I swore that the morphine was making him hallucinate but the doctors said it was dementia.
Avatar f tn The center is focusing on feedings and pain control. She is on morphine, fentanyl path and klonipan as well as Dilantin. She still twitches. I am thinking about calling Hospice. does she have a chance of recovering??? I don't want to be the voice of gloom in the family but I want to know when to take off work and spend more time with her. She is still coherent - just has short term memory disorder.
Avatar m tn Lately, the pain has become much worse and I have also been having visual disturbances and HUGE memory problems, like I sometimes cannot remember the simplest of words. I am becoming scared and don't know what else to do. I do not see my neurologist again for another few weeks and I have nothing I can take at home which will help with the pain. I am, basically, looking for any advice on dealing with this and finding if there are any other drugs I have yet to be prescribed which help.
Avatar f tn I did some research and some of the top side-effects with the Morphine are Headaches and Drowsiness and dizziness and being light-headed. There are many more than that but those are the ones that were at the top. I don't know if that helped you or not BUT I hope that it did. I really think you might want to consider talking to your NP about switching your BT meds.
1529480 tn?1291877134 Hi, I have been exactly where you are! My pain doctor would not listen either. Every time I saw him I would complain that the morphine made me feel "out of it" and that I did not like it. He kept insisting that i take it and then proceeded to up the dosage! Six weeks later I woke up in the ICU hallucinating and suffering from kidney failure!
Avatar n tn The dizziness could be due to loss of blood and effect of morphine and other drugs weaning off. However it is better to be cautious. So please see a neurologist. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.
Avatar f tn Hey Vince, I thought I wrote you back but.... anyway as for the pain meds, I have alot of pain with this hep thing to and the Docs had me on, amytriptaline at night, 4mg hydromorphone for breakthru pain as needed ,percodan 4 times a day plus 175mg of Lyrica. Before I started they dropped the lyrica, perks and amytriptaline, because they suggest that these are not good for the liver. They gave me MSContin three times a day plus the hydro for breakthru.
687729 tn?1397992727 Dear nickjackson, Embeda and Kadian are the same drug. The only other comparable drug is MS contin. I will tell you (in case you aren't aware) that Kadian does provide copay cards that can be used for 1 year. If you don't have one, contact your doctor and see if he has any. You also might try looking on their website to see if it is available.
Avatar f tn I am trying to get off Morphine and Vicodin prescribed for COPD and back pain. It's the 6th day now and I have had a heck of a time at night. Any suggestions? I have benzos, 5mg and took about 5 last night over several hours, feel like heck this AM. I need help. Hospice prescribed these meds and I can't abide them any more, they put me nodding all day.
Avatar m tn Normally the anxiety resolves itself within a few weeks but this time it has persisted and continues on. Could it be caused by the morphine? This is my thought but the pharmacist said he didn't think it was. Also my doctor is suggesting 8 tylenol a day to replace the morphine. I am so skeptical of it being adequate though I know I can manage less than the 60 mg of morphine now. What are your thoughts?
654560 tn?1331854581 When did they change my room. Gina replied this is the same room you have always been in . He said no it's not. OK son.Kendal asked for something to drink so my daughter got up to get his cup and couldn't find it ,,,she looked everywhere finally she asked Kendal ..Son , have you seen your cup? ......He looked at her sleepshly and replied It's probally back in that other roon you told me I wasn't moved from.
19579204 tn?1480364655 Meanwhile I suffer bad back pain, it is relentless and effects my whole life, after 10 years of Intrathecal morphine no oral or inject-able opiate drug has any effect and more then one Doctor has suggested that the morphine is causing me more pain then its relieving. So I have a level 6 pain and a feeling that I will never get relief. I have have nerve blocks, epidurals and other treatments that offered relief for a period of time.
Avatar n tn I am not sure what the circumstances are that surround your situation, but I do know that strokes are caused by a blood clot or a brain bleed. My mom just had 2 strokes and they actually gave her a morphine pump for her head because it hurt so bad. I do not think they would have done that if there was a chance it would cause more strokes. Keep doing your research though, I guess you never know!
Avatar m tn There is different doses of morphine. Who is to say how high of a dose he had took in your body. My dad had morphine and it caused delirium.
1184051 tn?1264435308 But for me the fatigue and memory issues have gotten so much worse in the last 6 months. I do have a good doc, I have been seeing her for 20 years now. So what meds are you on?
1751415 tn?1315069443 Hello! I wanted to thank you for the information on Morphine. I neglected to mention that it was not the hospice nurse but the nurse from the nursing home. We will mention this. I know that they use a Fentanyl (hope I'm spelling it correctly) patch and morphine by mouth. They were giving him the patch with Vicodin but I guess because his pain was increasing they switched to Morphine. We are due to have a conference this week. Again, thank you!
Avatar f tn I would be on the safe side and go get checked out. Morphine is a really strong drug especially if your pregnant.hope it all turns out good.
Avatar f tn Still have four more herniated discs from degenerate disc and also stenosis. Lots of pain but 150mg Morphine a day does the trick. Willing to give antidepressant a try......
Avatar m tn Morphine is a terrible one to quit ct....and I doubt that the Doc would want to prescribe enough Norco's to do the job...make certain the taper is long and slow....nausea and vomiting are solid w/d symptoms. Stay well hydrated unless you like your fluid I.V. - most of the MS prescribed outpatient these days is MSContin - morphine sulfate continuos release.
Avatar f tn He was very nice and helpful. He gave me morphine extended release 30mg tables and I need to take those 3x a day. I asked him about pregnancy and this medication. He said that there is always a chance of compilations. He said he has seen several patients that have gotten pregnant on this medication, some have tapered off of it and some continued to stay in this medication.
1148698 tn?1261715542 Hi..I'm new here and hoping that someone might be able to answer this question. Can Elavil be used as an effective means to releive morphine withdrawl symtoms? I'm about to go down that road and I know the agony of withdrawl from morphine and don't want to go through it again...or at least as bad as it was before. I have decreased my morphine intake from 150mg a day down to 90mg within two days.
