Avatar f tn For anyone reading this who feels their life and their personality is being overwhelmed by having CPS, consider Ketamine. Find yourself a ketamine specialist , make an appointment and go in for a chat. You have nothing to loose. I hope your lucky like me and receive a very welcome benefit from it. My suggestion though, if you and your doctor decide to go ahead, keep the number of people you tell to a minimum.
Avatar f tn I was given a sleeping tablet prior to surgery and didn't fall asleep. I also remember taking a LOT of pain killers for the immense pain caused by a tooth abscess and it took 4 hours to take affect. I didn't really think anything of it until I read your comment. Hmmm. I find magnesium is good to help me sleep. Just to add I no longer get cold/flu/bronchitis/strep throat...etc etc since taking vitamin D. It's not called the antibiotic vitamin for nothing!
Avatar f tn As an ex ketamine addict I know the seriously damaging effect ketamine can have on the body and am shocked to hear that a doctor is willingly prescribed it to a patient as a means of helping them. Although I can offer no advice on how it affects seizures or colonscopy, I am very curious to know why ketamine was actually given to a patient and what the doctor wished to achieve through such a dangerous and damaging drug?

Avatar m tn (no food) overnight, then given a shot of morphine to help her remain calm. She will be taken to surgery, and ketamine given to render her unconsious, then a breathing-anesthesia tube inserted in to her esophagus. She will then recieve either propofol or isoflourane in gaseous form. Surgery will be done, and she will be watched closely while waking up. I have seen thousands of dogs fly through surgery with blue ribbons.
1275919 tn?1279836004 Hello and Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am so glad that you found us and posted your question on our forum. I understand your "dontunderstand" screen-name. Ketamine was or is primarily used for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia, usually in combination with some sedative drug. If you have ever had surgery you have probably had ketamine. Recently it is developed some popularity in chronic pain patients.
1275919 tn?1279836004 I talked to my former doc again yesterday. She said if she was me she would go to the doc I've been seeing and go ahead with the ketamine drip. She said it's something that they don't offer but that she has never talked to anyone whose had iy done and would be curious to see ifiy works/ for how long. Then she gave me a wonderful compliment. She said that through the years she has learned a lot from me.
739070 tn?1338603402 Ren - the pain docs have a huge amount of experience with ketamine now and how to control and prevent the bad effects seen in the street drug. The two topics shouldn't even be discussed in the same conversation. It's like saying all narcotics are bad because of heroin overdoses. Huh? Rest your mind and put your faith in this doc who has worked such miracles for you.
901222 tn?1399142874 I tend to slip in and out of dependency according to pain levels and depression about it. I stay far away from oxy and morphine because they are very difficult for people to quit. Vicodin makes me sluggish and sad. I lose connections and sulk in my bed. I just stopped all about a week ago. Feeling a bit better. Still depressed with another RF medical procedure looming. I'm worried. Anyone else in this boat? Any personal advice from experience is welcome. You have to be here to know.
Avatar f tn sorta similar to PCP...... And I agree - - even though the old windowpane really lit you up - it didnt treat you like ketamine does. Never thought of it like that before......
739070 tn?1338603402 I wish I could do my IVSM at home! I've only had one set because I was recently diagnosed, You can say it was an early Christmas present. My doctor asks me to come up to a infusion clinic which is an hour and a half away. Last time my mother drove me which is pretty scary and a big enough stress. They use the Ketamine in the Sphenopalitine block? and it lasts for a month? I haven't any very painful episodes yet but in case I ever do, I'm curious.
767538 tn?1276575320 It actually worked the 1st day. During the infusions they put me on namenda which seemed to counteract the benefits of the ketamine and it made me sick. Its now 5 days after my infusions and Im starting to some pain so I am again trying the Namenda.
Avatar n tn I GET KETAMINE INFUSION EVERY 2 MONTHS FOR TWO THREE HOUR SESSIONS. HAD 6 DAY INPATIENT KETAMINE INFUSION, 6 DAY IVIG INPATIENT INFUSION AND 6 DAY LIDOCAINE INPATIENT INFUSION WHEN IN 4TH DAY I SUFFERED FROM LIDOCAINE TOXICITY & HAD TO BE TAKEN OFF INFUSION. NOTHING HAS HELPED. MY CONDITION IS ONLY GETTING WORSE WITH TIME. SUFFERED SINCE 2009. ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE ANY FEEDBACK. I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE ANYTHING YOU HAVE TO OFFER.
Avatar f tn ll try it for my neuropathic pain and see if it can help bolster my morphine dose. If not, I can always try more morphine. Had ketamine trigger point injections today. Still pretty sore, but hopefully in a couple of days when this settles down, it will reduce chronic muscle spasm in the large muscles of my lower back. Haven't read your letter yet but will get to it soon. Take care and keep moving forward -- never back up!
Avatar m tn I read where it suppresses breathing and effects balance sight and sense of time it also increases your heart rate and blood pressure.. going through wd this already happens and to add to it sounds very dangerous. you should look in the health pages at the amino acid protocol Vitamins and such to help with the wd There are also inexpensive natural products that would be better suited.. 1340011 tn?1276617767 My father has RSD and has for a very long time now. He was very very sick at the beginning, but has really learnt some things to help it. I will find everything out and let you know. He's experienced the same thing as your daughter. I don't know anything about going to Germany or Mexico. My heart goes out to you and your family, it is very hard to watch.
Avatar n tn WE live in upstate NY near Binghamton and we REALLY need help find a specialist that deals frequently with RSD
Avatar f tn My husband has hepatitis C and a great deal of pain in his back, arms, shoulders and needs to know what kind of Pain Meds are out there that are Liver Friendly.
Avatar f tn ve gotten it on Amazon for under 6 dollars a tube. You can spend more as well and it is going to last you and go a lot further than 2 patches. And I use it and it is helpful. You could look for alternatives. They also make a spray, also inexpensive. Ketamine infusions I've heard are pretty amazing. Only down side is it is not a one stop fix, you have to go through the whole series.
Avatar f tn If the medication is found to be the cause it may need to be substituted by other medications that have the desirable effects but lack the side effects, or counteract the side effect with other medications. It would be best to discuss the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating doctor. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar m tn Normally the anxiety resolves itself within a few weeks but this time it has persisted and continues on. Could it be caused by the morphine? This is my thought but the pharmacist said he didn't think it was. Also my doctor is suggesting 8 tylenol a day to replace the morphine. I am so skeptical of it being adequate though I know I can manage less than the 60 mg of morphine now. What are your thoughts?
612876 tn?1355514495 One of my friends mentioned a friend of hers who had this issue and was put on ketamine temporarily as an inpatient until her regular pain meds were out of her system, and then returned to her pain meds with much greater efficacy. As I understand it the ketamine would prevent excessive pain and withdrawal symptoms during the drug "holiday." Does anyone here have experience with taking a break from opiates to increase their efficacy, and if so, how did you do it and what was it like?
