Avatar m tn Hello, Urticaria pigmentosa is usually found in infants but it may affect adults also and produces lesions and intense itching. If you rub the lesions, hives may develop.
647852 tn?1251247846 Opioid medications (such as morphine, fentanyl, and sometime methadone) are often given to newborn infants, including extremely premature infants, to help control pain and discomfort. Depending upon the situation, one drug may be preferred over another. This class of pain medications has a very long history of safe use in premature infants.
Avatar f tn Yeah I have written a birth plan this time and in capitals I wrote no morphine lol not only is it hideous and highly contagious but they bloody hurt haha not a fun time.

Avatar f tn I would really like to know if anyone has taken morphine in pregnancy and upon giving birth if their baby had with drawls or not AND what dosage PLEASE! I have heard a few moms say they were taking Oxycontin 40mg three times a day with no baby withdrawals, but did not know if morphine was the same. I do go to a pain management place, I am in severe pain, I do not need lecturing, there are times I think about just ending it all just to stop the pain.
Avatar f tn Yes then can and should put the baby on a very small dose of morphine and titrate it down. It should have been done already and not have taken weeks. However, please keep in mind, I am not there and I am not a NICU doctor. Now, I want to ask you something. What are you doing about your Subutex? Are you tapering it off? Are you getting clean. I am an expert in adult addiction and I know that if you need any help, that I can do. Just let me know.
Avatar f tn I have had spina bifida occulta my whole life but im now 37 and for the past 6 months im in terrible pain in my lower back along with numbness and loss of sensation now and again in my hands feet and legs. I attend the doctors complaining and all i get is, thats part if the condition and recently they've said its due to pregnancy (but pains started way before then) i have read that the spinal cord can stretch and therefor cause considerable pain and i feel like im not being acknowledged.
772286 tn?1236139183 Researchers have discovered that abnormalities in a part of the brain that helps control breathing and arousal likely play a role in SIDS. Infants who die of SIDS may have brainstems that mature more slowly than those of other infants. Myelin, a fatty substance involved in nerve signal transmission, also may develop more slowly in infants with SIDS. * Breathing.
470885 tn?1326329037 First of all, I apologize if this seems like a silly question - my oldest son (now 4 years old) didn't have yogurt until he was well over a year old. I've been thinking about how to add variety (and extra good fats) to my younger son (8 months nearly 9 months old)'s diet due to the fact that he's a bit on the small side and slow to gain weight - but healthy - and I thought that maybe I could start giving him a bit of yogurt now and then.
6333619 tn?1386598382 Idk if the liter is harmful to infants and children, you may have to look it up. The thing i would be worrried about is that its not yalls cat, it just showed up one day and you rescued it. You dont know this cat basically. Avatar m tn Even the most recent study of Hill has evaluated a heterogeneous breastfeeding group and does not provide data for HBV DNA in mothers and infants (see the table for reference). Finally, the American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended that HBV infection should not be considered as a contraindication to breastfeeding of infants who receive the approved hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG) and HBV vaccine[46].
1794671 tn?1338795391 It is bad and inconcsistent so I am pretty much always on norco and the morphine. I stopped the morphine 8 months ago when I found out I was pregnant and now I am 2 weeks away from having my scheduled c-section and my dr insists that it is quite allright that I am taking the norco and I should stop stressing but something tells me I should just stop a week beforehand... but I am so scared of being in pain. The pain that I have been feeling without themorphine is bad but the norco helps..
Avatar m tn Normally the anxiety resolves itself within a few weeks but this time it has persisted and continues on. Could it be caused by the morphine? This is my thought but the pharmacist said he didn't think it was. Also my doctor is suggesting 8 tylenol a day to replace the morphine. I am so skeptical of it being adequate though I know I can manage less than the 60 mg of morphine now. What are your thoughts?
Avatar n tn I am not sure what the circumstances are that surround your situation, but I do know that strokes are caused by a blood clot or a brain bleed. My mom just had 2 strokes and they actually gave her a morphine pump for her head because it hurt so bad. I do not think they would have done that if there was a chance it would cause more strokes. Keep doing your research though, I guess you never know!
Avatar f tn You need support to stay clean! Contact Alcoholics Anonymous in your area and they can refer you to AA and NA meetings in your area. Go ahead and go to some AA meetings and be willing to share with women your story and accept the help of a sponsor. AA/NA is Free! A sponsor can talk you through any triggers in the next 4 months that want to make you use. Good for you to quit but you have to keep clean.
Avatar n tn Breastfeed for comfort and use petroleum jelly (or even better coconut oil) to soothe cool and protect the area and it will heal in just a couple of days.
1310633 tn?1430224091 The babies are easily agitated and cry constantly, and many cannot be near sound and light. Other symptoms can include a distinct, high-pitched cry, tightening of the muscles and seizures. While prescription drug abuse is a problem in nearly every neighborhood in America, it is particularly epidemic in Tennessee, which ranks among the top states in the overuse of prescription pain medications.
1035252 tn?1427227833 I noticed that several people have asked recently about a forum dedicated to the parenting of newborns and/or infants, since the only MH group starts with age 1-5. I started a group specifically for the age of Newborn up to 1 year...so please feel free to join and ask any questions under the sun OR to post if you find any pertinent information (such as information from reputable sources about infant equipment safety recalls, or information about infant health and care).
1751415 tn?1315069443 Hello! I wanted to thank you for the information on Morphine. I neglected to mention that it was not the hospice nurse but the nurse from the nursing home. We will mention this. I know that they use a Fentanyl (hope I'm spelling it correctly) patch and morphine by mouth. They were giving him the patch with Vicodin but I guess because his pain was increasing they switched to Morphine. We are due to have a conference this week. Again, thank you!
Avatar f tn I would be on the safe side and go get checked out. Morphine is a really strong drug especially if your pregnant.hope it all turns out good.
Avatar f tn Still have four more herniated discs from degenerate disc and also stenosis. Lots of pain but 150mg Morphine a day does the trick. Willing to give antidepressant a try......
Avatar m tn Morphine is a terrible one to quit ct....and I doubt that the Doc would want to prescribe enough Norco's to do the job...make certain the taper is long and slow....nausea and vomiting are solid w/d symptoms. Stay well hydrated unless you like your fluid I.V. - most of the MS prescribed outpatient these days is MSContin - morphine sulfate continuos release.
Avatar f tn He was very nice and helpful. He gave me morphine extended release 30mg tables and I need to take those 3x a day. I asked him about pregnancy and this medication. He said that there is always a chance of compilations. He said he has seen several patients that have gotten pregnant on this medication, some have tapered off of it and some continued to stay in this medication.
1148698 tn?1261715542 Hi..I'm new here and hoping that someone might be able to answer this question. Can Elavil be used as an effective means to releive morphine withdrawl symtoms? I'm about to go down that road and I know the agony of withdrawl from morphine and don't want to go through it again...or at least as bad as it was before. I have decreased my morphine intake from 150mg a day down to 90mg within two days.
Avatar f tn Ultrasound showed me at 5 weeks. When I was 5 weeks I had a migraine and the er dr gave me morphine even after confirming the pregnancy. Could I be having a miscarriage and could the morphine have caused it? I don't have any pain just bleeding more than spotting.
