Avatar f tn Hi and Welcome. Please excuse my tardy response. Our site is undergoing some format changes and some how I missed your post. I'm sorry. How was the UDS preformed? Did they utilize the Gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GCMS), which is highly accurate for UDT, and is considered to have a less than 0.5% false-positive rate? On a UDS using the GC/MS or LC/MS Opiates UDS the metabolites of Morphine, may show Hydromorphone if on high dose or chronic Morphine .
Avatar m tn The thing I am having difficulties with is I decided yesterday that today I would not take ANY morphine sulfate and just take the hydromorphone. I took an ambian and clonidine last night to help me sleep. Well, I never slept but I lied in bed comfortably. When I got up out of bed this morning I feel fine. I mean, I did not have to take a pill, my mind was not ....take a pill. I took ONE anyway and I am not having ANY withdrawal symptoms.....is this all calm before the storm????
Avatar m tn I am tapering off of them because of this and doing a fast taper at that because I HATE the feeling of not wanting to do anything I was on 400 mgs ms a day every 6 hrs and 15 mgs hydromorphone 4 to 5 ad ay for BTP I went from this to 50 mgs ms and 5 HY a day within a week and tomorrow to NO ms and keep the hydro and taper from there
1042572 tn?1254500587 he was very casual about it and told me to skip a dose here and there! As I have tried this and find the withdrawl quite unbearable. I work 6 days a week and drive to and from work and I'm scared I'm going to cause an accident when I feel so sick from the meds. I'm not sure I have come to the right forum because I see alot of addicts who do it for the high, I don't get off on these! I want off but safely without losing my mind or my health.
Avatar f tn DILAUDID (hydromorphone hydrochloride) is an opiate (a morphine like substance). How much have you been taking? A little more information might be helpful to understand your question. I am glad you found this forum.
Avatar f tn If the oxy stopped working as well, i switched to morphine at the same strength and vice versa. I have been only on MSContin and Dilaudid for 5 years now. I lowered my pain medications drastically over a matter of about 10 years.
Avatar m tn Picking a well-tolerated opiate is usually a 'hit or miss' process. The differences in tolerability come from several factors. For example, for some opiates, the administered medication is a 'prodrug' that must be converted to the active drug by the liver; an example is the conversion of codeine to morphine, which is more efficient in some people than in others. There is also wide variation in the degree of nausea produced by different medications in different people.
1052851 tn?1307741160 But, for some people, this is not a problem and they do not react this way to morphine at all and can take morphine without feel nausea what so ever. Our chemical make ups are all different and we all have different reactions to medications... some of us will have side effects, some of us will have allergies, and some of us will have the exact good reactions to the medication that the doctors want us to have.
Avatar m tn You are experiencing symptoms of opioid withdrawal -- one of which is hyper (high) algesia (feeling of pain). Hyperalgesia means you're experience increased pain for no apparent reason, other than opiate withdrawal. Opioid-induced hyperalgesia (OIH)is one of the most understudied aspects of opioid research.
Avatar f tn If the fracture ends have not aligned properly then this can pinch upon the spinal nerves and the spinal cord and cause a lot of pain. Also, if the fracture ends have joined, you need to start physiotherapy and take muscle relaxants to relieve muscle tension which comes with pain. Please do not take marijuana or increase dose or morphine. If possible take a second opinion. Meanwhile, please ask your current doctor if you could be taken up for X-rays or CT scan.
Avatar f tn I was addicted to Oxy OC80MG, morphine and heroin, pretty much anything I could get my greedy little hands on. Will your doctor taper you off of the pain meds? That I think would be the easiest way if you have a lot of self control. It helps to have someone hold on to ur pills and only give them to you as prescribed by ur doctor. I am not a Doctor or in the medical field I am only a recovery addict and this is just my thoughts. Been clean 1 v1/2 v yrs.
Avatar m tn My Pain Management doctor wants to go up on dosage of patch, but I would like to know what other patches are available other than Morphine and Fentanyl.Someone told me there was a hydromorphone patch. If so,please list name and dosages.
Avatar m tn I gave him back all my 100 mg morphine and all my hydromorphone and asked for a lower dosage. He then gave me 30mg twice a day for a week...that was okay...I could deal with it....But now I don't have any of those left. I am okay for about 2 or 3 days and then the withdrawal symptoms get really bad (and I take another 100 mg capsule--I saved about 10 of them)...I am cold(freezing) all the time, terrible bouts of depression, and then I get gross body movements happening..
Avatar f tn not exactly..oxy in theory is a bit stronger than hydro..and sub is a different type of narcotic than the other 2..but conversoin charts do compare the strength of sub to other narcotics..but it is not really the effect they r comparing//but the strength...i do believe there is a conversion chart in avisg's journal...
Avatar f tn on my lab when i was looking it over it said i was negative for hydrocodone and i take strong doses so i am confused on that im fighting to prove my innoce and save my pride and good name, i also grt nubain shots and the person who did up my paper with my perscriptions did not put that on there , and from my under standing hydromorphone and nubane have the sme chemical make up.
Avatar m tn Someone very close to me has been using morphine for over 15 years, and has severe stomach issues that are to this day unresolved. He was hospitalized for 5 days about four years ago, and then for 6 days about half of a year ago. It only happens every so often, but it's really a concern, especially since none of the specialsist, universities, and the nations best health care can figure out what's wrong with him.
Avatar f tn Good Evening Mary, I'd be willing to bet that you are allergic to Morphine. The one and only time that I've Morphine (all the other times Ipve had Demerol) was for my ruptured disc's to be removed. They continued with the Morphine intravenously and I ws throwing up. After the 2nd time my Nurse called the Anethetist and this time as the Nurse administered the Morphine before it was even half in I was vomiting.
Avatar n tn You should talk to your doctor and see what he thinks I personally have tried Dilaudid (Hydromorphone) for over 8 months and it produces effects similar to weak opiates than morphine. I personally had no nausea, and the doctor can titrate increase or decrease the dosage very easily. I've also had personal experience with I.V. morphine since I had cancer and It did cause nausea at high doses 15mg-25mg I.V. but after some time...
Avatar m tn 45PM. I have been given 60 MG morphine sulfate and 8 MG hydromorphone. I am starting to hurt through my chest and legs and hands. I am starting to have some sweats. My question is: are these pains part of cold turkey from the Subsys or new symptoms of the new meds I have been given? Lastly, how long does the fentanyl last in my system?
Avatar f tn This sounds like more of a chronic pain question. The people here view everyone as an addict, mostly. You may not be an addict at all and just a serious chronic pain pt.and get the advise for an addict with chronic pain. Dilaudid is strong, very similar to heroin and stronger than morphine but not all that deadly unless injected..
Avatar f tn Although methadone and fentanyl are also heavily protein bound and as such require reduced dosing in patients with cirrhosis, the metabolism of these agents does not yield toxic metabolites, and hence they, along with hydromorphone, may be better tolerated37,38 (Table 2)." ".....Hydromorphone and fentanyl appear to be the least affected by renal dysfunction, and fentanyl has less hemodynamic disturbance (due to lack of histamine release associated with other opioids).
Avatar f tn These include Methadone, Fentanyl and hydromorphone for brake threw pain. I feel so tired when all the time. I know exercise helps but it is hard for me to exercise as the pain gets worse when I do. I am so tired i fall asleep in my chair at work. I know I am getting enough sleep i just can not seem to stay awake and alert. Any ideas on what might help?
Avatar m tn He was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer around 9 years ago and underwent hormone treatment and radiotherapy which contained the tumour and ever since then the cancer has not impacted his life much at all.
Avatar m tn Other drugs which are used are usually hydromorphone, baclofen and alpha adrenergic agents. In your case, before opting for a pain pump, other drug and dosage combinations can be tried. You can also opt for pain patches. Also, drug therapies can be combined with yoga, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy etc for better pain control. Please discuss this with your doctor. Take care!
