262294 tn?1236176870 DLPA may have the unique ability to block the enzyme (enkephalinase) in the central nervous system that is responsible for breaking down natural, morphine-like hormones called endorphins and enkephalins. So it the endorphins last longer and this stuff supposedly helps produce more neurotransmitters (endorphins).
Avatar f tn I ponder this question a lot & look forward to the natural endorphins coming back. I used only 3 years and like most here have my good and bad waves. Although I hit the gym 5 days a week I find that after it is when I miss my doc the most...I go from a natural high before the gym to the lowest of lows when I get back. It slowly comes back but it $ucks. I remember the natural endorphins...a good steak, beers with friends on Fri night, or making vacation plans.
Avatar n tn I was wondering what role endorphins play in sexual arousal and desire. Does a release of endorphins directly make you feel aroused? Or do they work in an indirect way by giving you a general sense of well being, happiness, and excitement which will enable you to feel aroused, desirous, and pleasure in a possible sexual situation? Thanks!!!
Avatar f tn Hi my name is Mandy and i have been on Morphine for around 4/5 yrs and the drs have spoke about taken me off it and re-looking at my meds but also to check for another illness basically start a fresh. I have Fms and suffer very badly with the pain so i eat the tablets like sweets which i know isnt good. They say i will have to go cold turkey as i have a addition to morphene after being on it for so long.
Avatar f tn In case you are curious, it takes us about three to four days to get a patient off of any opiate including Morphine, and feeling well. We withdraw you from all opiate under sedation and initiate long-term naltrexone therapy ti ensure protection from cravings.
579469 tn?1311705550 Hi. I have a funny question about withdrawing from opiates... I am on day 4 of a moderate withdrawal from hydrocodone. Today I am noticing a strange (and good!) sensations of what feels like endorphins kicking in. This is not my first time detoxing (unfortunately) and I don't ever recall having this sensation before like this.
Avatar f tn Getting out walking and exercising although I know she does not feel like it is a big help with anxiety helps to promote fell good endorphins, energy and rls (restless leg).. On the bottom right there is information about amino acids that will help with energy and other symptoms.. Therapy is a bonus as we have a need to talk of our experiences and the reasons we take it to extremes.. I'm sure you will get a lot of response, read as others have been through what your girl is going through...
Avatar f tn I haven’t taken it myself as my RLS seems under control at the moment - I have done a lot of research and it seems extremely safe and there are many people saying that it has worked extremely well for them. A little background on LDN (Low dose Naltrexone). Naltrexone is a class of drug known as an opiate antagonist. Its normal use is in treating addiction to opiate drugs such as heroin or morphine. The dose used for this purpose is usually between 50 and 300mg daily.
Avatar n tn Indeed, the finding that itching improved in some people treated with drugs that block the binding of morphine or endorphins to nerves supported this consideration. Yet, many patients do not respond to these blocking drugs, suggesting that other causes or mechanisms are involved in producing itching...." http://www.medicinenet.com/primary_biliary_cirrhosis/page8.
Avatar m tn Hi Bandog..The Metal part is the hardest..It does take time for all the Endorphins, Gabba & Serotonin to balance back..Even the Dopamines are unbalanced..Try to fine the info on here about the "Disease of Addiction and the Pleasures Pathway"..There are a lot of videos you can order too..I liked the one called "Pleasures Unwoven" He shows how it works by going into canyons and saying it is like the curves in our Brain..
Avatar f tn Just wanted to ask what others do to combat this and if this is a normal part of W/D from Norco (could be residual from the morphine w/d I did last month). I understand my brain receptors are in panic mode right now and that it will take time for natural endorphins etc. to be manufactured.......but still I ask what others have done/do to manage depression in the interim?
Avatar m tn Hi! We used to have some Health Forums on the right side. One of them was about all the foods that help bring up the Dopamine. Like Beets, Eggs, Cottage Cheese, and so forth. I can not remember them all. I do know that Walnuts are a Brain food (this is why they look like a brain). Protien and Amino Acids are great. I also read many yrs ago about these 3 herbs.( to help build the Brain Chemistry).
6442564 tn?1383229443 Ugh. Anyway get moving get your heart rate up and natural endorphins. A little weak this afternoon but looking forward to another hour drug free. I'm so grateful that I have made it this far. Onward and upward.
3138715 tn?1342790568 I am not sure of what you are detoxing from but the anxiety and sleepless is part of the withdrawal. I used to get 15 minutes of sleep and then the anxiety would kick in. My doctor gave me Diazipam (5mg) for the anxiety and I was directed to only take 1/2 pill as needed. This did help but the vitamins and hydration is also a factor. Little exercise helps to get the endorphins into kicking mode. Melatonin and teas help but be patient while your body is cleaning itself out.
Avatar f tn Hello I was on high daily doses of hydrocodone for 2 years and eventually progressed to sporadic iv use of drugs such as morphine, oxycodone and heroin.I went to rehab 2 years ago and have been on suboxone ever since. At one time I was on 4 8mg pills daily but am currently on 1 a day.Even at the highest dose, however, I still had quite strong drug cravings and still live ith them every day.I also have depression for which I have tried countless antidepressants, all without results.
906267 tn?1244743451 I agree with the exercise part, the natural endorphins (which is our natural morphine) will connect and you should get an emotional boost from that. Good Luck…. Stay strong!
Avatar f tn It will take a bit of time - a few weeks at least, for your receptors to down-regulate (for the brain begin to heal) and to start making its own endorphins. Brain heals pretty slowly, so it may take you as long as a couple of months to get rid of feelings of sluggishness, restlessness and depression. The best thing you can do is take good care of yourself, eat healthy food, stay hydrated, keep active and busy. Stay away from sugar, soda, and simple carbs.
Avatar m tn An opiate is natural and from the opium poppy plant. Examples of these would be heroine, opium, morphine and codeine. An opioid is a synthetic drug made to mimic the effects of an opiate. These would be Percocet, Fentanyl, Methadone, Oxy, Demerol, etc. Opiates are said to be more addictive. As far as your question about receptors....yes there are differences. I used to say opiate and opioids not knowing the difference until I googled "Opiate vs Opioid" a couple years ago.
Avatar f tn I'm currently kicking opiates, methadone, morphine, and roxys. My questions are, when will the chills go away? And my skin is so sensitive, wen will that go away? I've got everything else!
1454019 tn?1342210112 I am over 30 days detoxed from the fentanyl and morphine and it was a rough road for me and I still have a little more to go through to clean my system out from all the drugs I have been put on for pain. Yes, I still have the pain but the drugs did not help enough and the pain I have leaned to live with. It is rough but I take topical's like Voltaren gel to help.
Avatar f tn On day 6 cold turkey after lowering dose on my own from 3 200mg morphine/day plus up to 8 10/325 percs a day for break through pain. Soon nothing worked and my doc closed. I weaned down to 1 15 mg morphine pill IR over about two months. You CAN do this. Withdrawls suck but it will open a door to a whole new life. Good luck and peace to you.
Avatar m tn Basically I have not motivation to move or do anything at all. The only thing which helps is opiates like opium, morphine and heroin. From time to time I have had to take one or the other just to be able to do things which were needed to be done. I have no craving for opiates and I don't take large quatity of them and I stay away from heroine if there are other trhings available. Opium is my preferred substance. I repeat I only take it because at times I have to get things done.
Avatar f tn tell him or her whats going on and if you need help which you probably do he or she may give you methadone for a while that will ease the withdrawals from heroin and morphine. Get in on a NA meeting this will help you just being there. Keep posting. You can do it.
Avatar n tn i have bein taking pills oxy 30m and morphine for 2 years i am 20 almost 21 what does it take to stop
Avatar f tn the act of giving, loving, doing, charity, LAUGHING (my daughter just got her new Iphone and spent the morning doing videos of me singing loud and off-key and then replaying them in Slo-Motion. I looked totally ridiculous and horrifying, but I belly laughed so hard, and it FELT GREAT! and...6. Water. It doesn't directly cause your brain to make endo's, but it is so vitally important, and cannot be overstated. Beer, no. Coffee, soda, NO. Plain water...
Avatar n tn s happening is that while you were taking the codeine, your brain stopped producing its own endorphins. And "Endorphins" is short for "Endogenous Morphine." Yup, we produce it ourselves. For 9 days your brain has been starved for its usual supply of feel-good chemicals. There are a lot of things that will help your brain start to produce its own endorphins again: TIME: this is a hard one, but time takes time. Trust that it will get better. EXERCISE: This is huge.
572651 tn?1530999357 -) The surgery was more extensive than the doctor had hoped and it took over 4 hours to replace her morphine pump. There was scar tissue complication at the spine and the doctor had to take deeper and longer incisions than anticipated. Dr. Dahi, her wonderful physician, also said that she had a couple really extreme spasm episodes that they had to wait out until they stopped on their own before they could continue with the surgery.
