Avatar n tn Once I discussed it with my doctor, she ran the gamut of blood work, chest xray and pulmonary function testing. All came back normal and she and I talked about progesterone. It seems as though my symptoms are linked to my cycle. Most of the time my problem starts around midcycle and gets gradually worse until I start my period. Then it subsides. That made sense to her since as a woman's body moves through her cycle, her progesterone level go up, up, up until her period begins.
Avatar f tn Does anyone else have "air hunger' or shortness of breath with hypothyroidism - and what are you doing for it
Avatar n tn Hello, I have a hard time describing my symptoms. Please, please don't tell me to consider anxiety, I am absolutely certain there is something physcially wrong. First off I've suffered chronic daily headache for 3 years strait. I'm on no meds and I'm 30 years old. It started when I was having some energy surges in my abdomen/chest that gave me a high pulse and would send me into tachycardia and near syncope. I also began feeling undescribably sick with a general malaise.
Avatar f tn Hello, Okay so my weird symptom of feeling like I am breathing in stale air has officially become air hunger (I believe anyways). I feel like I am suffocating and cannot get enough air. It helps to breathe through my mouth but trying to breathe through my nose, forget about it. I'm not like breathing heavy or anything, just feels like I'm not getting enough air in my lungs. I'm also not really dizzy but feeling as if I'm walking on a cruise ship.
Avatar n tn Another thing I have read is that there is a connection between hypothyroidism and air hunger. I have hypothyroidism. Once I got it under control, the air hunger seemed to occur a LOT less frequently. This can also be determined with a blood test...Hope this helps.

Avatar m tn Hi was just reading everyones stories about the AIR HUNGER sensation and i too have suffered this ever since 2004, i was shortly after diagnosed with graves disease, and the doctors were all quick to say it was the cause of all my symptoms due to severe anxiety.
Avatar n tn The reason I have decided to post on the food allergy forum is because about 4 weeks ago I got sick with stomach flu with diarrhea and vomiting and for three days did not have an appetite and only could get water down. However, my air hunger subsided substantially it was wonderful.
Avatar f tn She also put my on inhalers, sent me for a CT scan of my chest (normal), an echocardiogram (basically normal), and now the asthma thing. The air hunger went away for about 2 weeks after I had been on the synthroid and the inhalers for about 1 week. Then, much to my disappointment, it came back. What the heck?? I did ask the nurse prac about testing the T3 free, but she said it's too unstable and so they don't test for it. Is this correct?
237053 tn?1258828426 I've been having the same thing in the last couple months on a more consistent basis. Same thing where it's not painful but it feels like I can't get a good gasp of air. Mine comes and goes though because I can breathe just fine at times and other times not so much. I went to the ER one time when it was affecting me but of course nothing was found. The co-infection of babesia is the suspected culprit of air hunger and cardiac symptoms.
Avatar m tn What are you actually craving with these air hunger symptoms? Also antidepressants are brain altering and even through the anxiety is controlled by these meds - the brain can shut off certain hormones that control appetite and trigger hunger. That is why weight gain is very common with bi polar - anxiety medication.
Avatar m tn But yes, drugs of all kinds curve the appetite and how food tastes and smells. Keep on keeping on and eat and eat. Drugs deplete our bodies of the nutrients we need and even if you are not skin and bones, you're probably malnourished in one way or another. Glad you're getting better. Chin up..its a great ride to the top.
Avatar f tn They gave me some to stop my pain at 34+1 and I dont remember anything from that night. If im gonna get pain meds it will be gas and air first.
5265383 tn?1669040108 After being on amoxicillin (post extraction) and then sulfatrim (sinus affection after communication) I developed physical trouble breathing (swollen nasal/throat passages), plus air hunger and chest pain. Had a chest x-ray, tests for PE (negative), ecg, loop monitor for 9 days. Chest x-ray showed prominence of bronchovascular markings consistent with airway inflammatory disease and COPD in appropriate clinical setting. I've never smoked and have always been careful with masks etc.
Avatar f tn My two longest and most persistent symptoms of Lyme + Bart have been fatigue and shortness of breath/air hunger. I have also had heat sensitivity. After 6 months of abx, I am much better this summer than last, but as I am in Las Vegas visiting family, and it has been 111F (44C) here the last couple days, I realize my heat sensitivity isn't entirely gone. Over 100F (38C) I find that I almost immediately feel tired and my air hunger gets worse.
Avatar f tn When I try to stop the air it keeps coming out my stomach is getting small and smaller right before my eye and it is getting tighter and tight. When I close my mouth the air fills up I'n my throat making it hard to breath and not sure but it kind of seems like my legs and breast r getting smaller also. Someone please help what is happening to me.
Avatar f tn I think I have what is called air hunger. My neck feels very swollen and I feel like I can't take deep breaths or get enough air. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to pass out. I'm hypothyroid with Hashi's and am trying to find a doc who will increase my synthroid. In the meantime, is there anything I can do to help relieve this feeling?
Avatar n tn No matter how gross that sounds it was the only time that my air hunger started to dimenish for the first time in two months. Today I only took Allegra D and my breathing is horrible. Its like the congestion coming out actually stopped my air hunger HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE. Anybody out there knows anything please let me know thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi just wondering if anyone is in the same situation or has any advice. I have terrible health anxiety and I am constantly convinced I am dying. My latest symptoms are air hunger although my obs are always perfect and muscle twitching.
Avatar m tn I think this has to do with anxiety. I also have the same symptom. They call it "air hunger". I have been dealing with anxiety for a couple of months now and the feeling of not being able to take a deep breath was the first symptom of anxiety. I still deal with the air hunger every now and again. I try not to focus on my breathing too much because I tend to freak out if I pay too much attention on the feeling of not being able to take a deep enough breath.
Avatar n tn i have contant air in my chest and feel a need to burp but can't- i have to wait for it to come up by itself, 5 min after it comes out i have the feeling again
