5509293 tn?1428531475 Nuvigil, alerted, modafinil, Provigil are the same -as far as I understand. I am paying more than you - I have high deductible insurance but took the hit because I needed a replacement for amantadine to help with fatigue. Thought I was ok until the amantadine worked its way out of my system and then I crashed. But new drug is giving me BP problems. Is anyone taking the drug with NO BP problems? How much can you take?
667078 tn?1316000935 Hi Alex I took a nap on provigil/modafanil. So it did nothing for me. I've read others here that have taken adderall for fatique with good results. Adderall will be my next step as I've already talked to the doc about it. My fatigue has been better since I stopped working. Good your going to the doc tomorrow so u can talk over your options. Let us know how it goes.
5160872 tn?1385248794 I have recently started on Tec, and so far so good. Neither Modafinil (Provigil) nor Symmetrel (Amantadine) helped me at all. Adderall does, though it gives me a dry mouth. There have been many threads over the years on these meds, which you can read by using the magnifying glass icon at the upper left.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar f tn I was on amantidine, modafinil, fampriya(which is usually for walking but has shown to help some people with fatigue), aand finally ritalin. It has taken about two years to get to this point.
Avatar m tn I am currently being treated for CFS with a medication called Modafinil. It’s the one medication that’s a stimulant, that’s not in the same class as Adderall or Ritalin with a very low abuse potential. It helps out a lot, but I feel while it is helping it does damage as well considering you get used to the medication and the CFS is 100 times worse then when it started. My question is this : What medical procedures are done to rule out it being an underlying medical condition ?
Avatar f tn There definately is a difference between Ritalin and Adderall. Adderall is stronger. For instance, if a person is on 30mg of Adderall and wants to switch to Ritalin,..you will need aprox. 50 to 60mg of Ritalin to be equivelant to the 30mg of Adderall. I am on 60mg of Adderall daily. I wanted to try Ritalin again just for the heck of it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall.
Avatar f tn m seeing another sleep specialist this week. Has anyone taken adderall and been able to sleep? Please someone help me. I will take anyone's advice. I want my life back. I have to go back to work. Please I will try anything. I'm desperate not sure how I'm going to pay rent. Feel horrible.
Avatar f tn When I read you were adding adderall I felt compelled to relay my experience. Adderall is basically legalized speed. Do yourself a favor and try all other options before turning to adderall. I was addicted to adderall. I just finished physical withdrawals and now I'm dealing with phychatric withdrawals. This drug is sold on the streets and you might find yourself needing more and more in order for it to work. Just be careful!
Avatar f tn Rondi..I am in a similar situation such as yourself. I had been on Provigil for approximately a year and it helped me tremendously. I was able to look for employment again, seek out options for going bk to school, and I had much less social anxiety with friends, family, and the public. I also went on a much needed weight loss program and had lost 17 lbs. Then my insurance denied coverage and we are working on an appeal.
Avatar f tn It is working. The next step would be modafinil but I was told that many of their patients use Ritalin or adderall. Both are addictive so they start with the ones with least side effects first. So far amantadine has been helping get me through my day without crashing. Might be worth asking about it.
20003388 tn?1515166040 s just the ones that affect NE. Interestingly enough I can Adderall, Modafinil and have caffeine without the same issue so it has to be some mechanism of the antidepressants. This is very annoying. I'm curious if anyone has heard of this or experiences the same issue and hoping for some suggestions to either treat the symptom or for tests I can ask to get done. Anything at all to help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Try tapering the Xanax then go with a stimulant to help with daily energy (something like Adderall if you want amphetamines and Modafinil if you don't want amphetamines and less side-effects). Managing a healthy diet rich in complex carbohydrates rather than simple sugar, rich in Omega-3, vegetables and fruits can also help.
14631020 tn?1436545476 ve personally opted for the less effective and less addictive modafinil. Do I yearn for something more along the lines of adderall or ritilin some days? Heck yea. But I had a less-than-fun experience coming off an unrelated prescription last year and it's a once bitten twice shy situation.
Avatar f tn Vyvanse is metabolized differently, so could last longer in your system. It was done so you could not snort it like you can with Adderall. Adderall gives a stronger first "hit". V is smoother and takes longer to take effect so may not be as noticeable. Also the Dose of V should be 30mg compared to 10mgs of adderall XR to be somewhat equal.
Avatar n tn Do you feel like the Adderall works better? We could stop the Sunosi and have you do the Adderall three times a day. 90mg is typically the max we try to keep the dosing around for Adderall, but accomodations can be made. I'm suspicious if some of the symptoms you are experiencing during the day is related to Cataplexy? This is typically associated with some form of muscle weakness. Not sure if you notice any of those symptoms at all?
Avatar f tn m not sure why a doctor would prescribe Valium to someone with narcolepsy - stimulants like Adderall can often leave someone feeling strung out, burnt out, and even more tired in the long run... versus something like Provigil (aka modafinil) which is non-narcotic and promotes awareness and wakefulness.
Avatar f tn I have been put on Modafinil for my sleeping issues and it makes my birth control less effective according to my neurologist and pharmacist. Is there any way I can find out how MUCH less? Am I even protected at all? I have been on the pill for 10 years and after hearing this, I immediately called my gynecologist to discuss other options. She told me that the oral pill would metabolize through the liver much faster on Modafinil and so she put me on the Nuvaring.
572651 tn?1530999357 My insurance only allows Provigil with diagnoses of MS or narcolepsy, neither of which I have as a limbolander. But a few months ago, I started on an off-label prescription of generic Adderall for my fatigue, and it's been a huge help. While it still isn't covered by my insurance since I don't have ADD/ADHD, I discovered that by buying it at Costco, it got the price for a month's supply down to $23 (after paying $60/month for several months at my regular pharmacy!
Avatar n tn any advice or experiences that could help me understand would be really helpful please. My brother has started university to study architecture this year and due to the huge amount of nights he had to work, started going on modafinil. Now that the year is finished and he's not taking it however, he has become aggressive, irrational and rude. Does anyone know if this is because of the modafinil or if there's a link.
1549092 tn?1297046311 I think you will find the information useful as it compares Vyvanse vs Adderall XR. Do make sure you also click on their ADHD link at the top of the page once you have finished reading. The site is - http://healthlifeandstuff.com/2009/07/vyvanse-vs-adderall-simple-vs-complex. You also might want to check out another very good site for adult ADD. Its has a different approach to the matter as it is all done with videos and was recently featured in a special on PBS.
