There is a condition which can develop where you get serotonin overload (called serotonin syndrome) and it can be very very serious. Methadone is a different kind of drug from ultracet, so i don't think there would be the same complication. FYI though, I was on Effexor XR 300mg and the max dose of tramadol (active ingredient in ultram) 400mg for two month and I did not have any problems. Your doc should be aware of this though and monitor you for symptoms of too much serotonin.

My question is, has anyone heard of lyrica causing withdrawal symptoms when taken w/methadone? I was given Tramadol(Ultram) w/ methadone and thought I was going to die with the interaction it caused!!!

Your sister is playing an extremely dangerous game with mixing methadone and benzos.That can be a fatal mix.I've known 2 people who over the last year and a half who have died from doing just that and both were taking a lot less methadone then your sister is taking.I'm not trying to scare you.Just making sure you know what a fatal cocktail that can be..I will keep your sister in my prayers.All the best...

About mixing methadone and klonopins.....well here is my story...... i was on meth, and buying klonopin 2mgs.... well one day , actually night i took like 8 or 10mgs. of them. The next day on my way to the meth clinic i was fine. After i took my 85mgs (at the time) dose, well no later than 10 minutes went buy and i knew i was about to black out. I had to drive 20 minutes to the clinic. so i stopped at a friends in the area to do some coke to wake me up....yeah...i know....

I am taking methadone 5 mg tablets 3 times per day and Ultram 100 mg in the morning, 50 mg in the afternoon and 100 mg extended release in the evening. The reason for the mixed up dosage on the ultram is I am trying to get off of the extended release due to the cost. The problem I have is that before when I was taking 100 mg Ultram ER twice a day with the methadone as listed above my pain was controled, but since I have tried going down on it I have pain all the time again.

You're using Methadone to step down from oxy or something, I assume ... taking Tramadol is stepping down from Methadone, if it works. Same goes for codeine. I'd do it )I'm going to), but I'm not advising you to do so. I'm answering the question -- yes, but do your homework. Your choice.

so he oncologist gave him a subscription for methadone to control the pain more evenly over the day along with a script for Ultram for breakthrough pain. my husband was told to take 10mg methadone 3x a day along with the 160mg of oxy for the first three days until the methadone started working and then to taper off the oxy and onto the ultram. So the questions are: is taking this much narcotics safe?

Hi and welcome to the forum....well I was on methadone for 6 1//2yrs and also have bipolar disorder so taking antidepressants was a fact of life for me...I had good luck with celexa will taking methadone...very little side effects mixing the 2 together but all antidepressant are not the same...I agree with mr lucky on asking your dr he/she should at least know your on the methadone...

A lot of PM docs use this for patients to take all day long, every day. My employer and doc tried to put me on Ultram ER and I refused to take it. Good luck and if you need any suggestions for the d-tox, let me know and I will check.

I have already caught him once mixing klonopin and his methadone. But I am still very suspicious that he has do so over the week end at his parents house. I was just wondering if you could advise me as to what signs to watch for if I don't catch him right away. Like what the normal side effects within a day or two after that I would be looking for.

Remeber the whole anna nicloe thing. well her son died from a heart attack due to mixing anti depressents and methadone. I would think the dr. or the pharmacy would know but you never know and must check into this further. I am not trying to scare you but i specifically remember that his death was due to a combination of those exact two things. Good luck and boy is she lucky to have you looking out for her!!!

Mixing benzos like xanax and methadone can be deadly...an overdose without a warning.

I quit taking methadone at the beginning of the month and started taking the ultram to help with the methadone withdrawals so I could make it through the holiday. I took my last ultram yesterday around 8pm so it's now been almost 30 hrs and I feel like crap. I can't sleep and my legs are killing me. Thinking about calling off of work tomorrow...

i am a recovering heroin addict using methadone as my my recovery method and i have diabetes 2 and take insulin daily as well, i take 100mg methadone liquid and 20 units of Humulin N type insulin once nitely. during the day i seem ok and around 5 or 6 pm i start to go thru withdrawls really bad to wher i want drugs so far i forced myself to go to bed and havent used again i been clean since the day after thanksgiving this year a few months.

if you take methadone how long after stopping before any other kind of opiate will work? i've been off methadone for about a week and i found a perc 10 last night and took it. i know i should not have done that but im an addict and i could not help myself. i thought methadone made it so no other opiates would work but i swear i think i felt better after i took it. was it all in my head or did it really help?

s were hoping pain pts and addicts would thankfully accept this ultram (to protect their licenses) and are finding out pretty quickly that it is both useless and worse to detox from. I'm sorry you let them put you on it. Your dose is EXTREMELY high. On a positive note, it attaches to kappa and is a weak mu so at least the length of time for your w/d's will be less.

It is easier to get off Vicodin than ultram (aka tramadol) because tram is synthetic and contains an antidepressant. Like sub and methadone, also synthetic, the withdrawal is long and arduous. Vicodin is the weaker of the narcotic pain meds and detox, although not fun, is over relatively quick. 1 to 2 weeks tops. Tram w/d lasts for months.

Did your doctor prescribe you this? I have known some people who have taken medication issues into their own hands with really bad results, but if you are doing it under your doctor's orders (and he/she knows about your current medications and history) then I would follow what he/she says. Another good reference for questions is your pharmacist that fills your prescriptions....keep us posted!

I used to be on 150 mg of Methadone a day but cut way down to just 30mg/day and it was so tough! Now I'm mixing just 10mg of Valium with the current Methadone. It that mixture safe?

I noticed your comment about Ultram and I want to share with you that it is highly addictive and so many people here suffer because of it. In my honest opinion I feel it wont be long until it is added to the Narcotic list. If you HAVE to take it please make sure to advise your doctor you dont want any more than a 10 day supply at a very low dosage. Please keep in mind that the withdrawals from Ultram (aka Tramadol) are horrific! Take it from someone who knows first hand.

can someone pls tell me if im mixing the wrong medications? i take seriqual and methadone and i dont feel well at all, i can barely move half the time i cant stop crying shaking freaking out on people! throwing up! i cant stop shaking my body is heating up from the inside out i feel delusional! im a mess! i dont want to take it anymore? if i stop taking it can i get through it??? can anything make it easier?? i believe this stuff is making me feel worse than i ever have felt in my life!
