I'm taking 2 x2mg ativan for sleeping. As well as 1 x 0.5 apo-alpraz (alprazolam) for sleeping. The Apo, I have been on for years for anxiety and didn't use it very often...until now. Never used ativan until my wife left with the boys the day after xmas. Some of you may know, the pain of losing your love of 30 years, is a hundred times worse than a week of withdrawals. I'd trade in a heart beat. Anyway, sorry. Getting sentimental now.
Today he came down hard from his high and went off the road with his car. I am wondering if mixing these drugs are the culprit, and what the family can do about this doctor because he seems extremely shady, and my brother has sneaked off in the middle of the night to see him and always comes back high as a kite.
d take more Ativan to help with the anxiety. THEN, when I stopped having to take the Ativan so much, I realized I was going through withdrawals from the Ativan, too. Horrible. So, yeah, I only take it as prescribed now. It scared me straight on that one. I think that was worse for me than the opiate withdrawal for some time.

The fact that you've been on Ativan for "a few months" and are experiencing horrible anxiety with panic attacks tells me the Ativan is no longer working for you. You need to get back with your doctor and discuss these issues.
I'm afraid I know nothing about this 5htp stuff, but what I DO know is that sometimes the result of mixing these things can be disasterous.

i must ask...did your doctor put you on an antidepressant for the panic attacks or just the ativan? you need to treat the cause...not the symptoms. how long have you been taking the ativan?

Gosh I know you want to sleep but I must be honest.. If I were taking 4 Adivan a day I would be looped.. then mixing it with all the other stuff.. no wonder you are seeing weird things.. If you are serious of getting out of your addiction.. stop drinking and flush the Adivan.. yeah good for wd.. but guess what you sound like a addict to me.. I guess it takes one to recognize one.. Not meaning to sound harsh But You are going to kill yourself with these combination's..
I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder with PTSD and I was put on xanax 1mg to take 2 1/2 a day. I was experiencing mainly what my psychiatrist called mania where I would be ridiculously irritable and nervous/shaky. While the xanax took care of most of this, at times I still experience a very bad mood and have anger problems, where I fly off the handle at things that wouldn't bother most people to that extreme.
Of Diluadid 3xday. Will I have with drawls going from the patch to the oxy? I used to be on OxyContin like 15 yrs ago, I got weaned off of the oxy too on the patch, I had no with drawls from the oxy, my dr. Slowly weaned me, no problem at all. This time, I'm going straight to the oxy from the patch, actually tonight I'm suppose to take my patch off and take my first oxy pill in the morning. Will I be feeling any with drawl? I also take Ativan 1mg. 3xday been on that for 25 yrs.
I have been using narcotic painkillers off and on since about 12th grade. (I am now 22). I was clean from Feb 2005- August 2006. In the past 6 months I have been taking about 5-6 10mg percocets everyday. Within the past month I have been either doing that or snorting ATLEAST 1 80mg oxycontin a day. My friends finally found out about my "double life" and this gave me a strong incentive to quit. I havent touched any opiates in about 48 hours...
i've seen a hundred times that mixing those two is very dangerous. i'm no doctor, but i myself take methadone and once i took a valium, i've never felt sicker!! i do believe it is very dangerous. . .

A LOT of people are afraid to take new medications, especially after reading all of the small print. While it's good to educate yourself, you have to be careful overdoing it and reading every little thing.
You're prescribed a typical dose, and 0.5mg is a low dose for Ativan. It's not going to affect your breathing. That would only be a concern with high doses, or mixing of Ativan and either alcohol or other sedating medications (usually also in high doses).
i know for a fact that mixing booze with alprazolam is dangerous as they are both sedatig drugs which when combined are very potent. is he having problems as a result of this? usually there are negative consequences that need to be apparent before one will consider trying to quit. has he ever been to treatment or aa?
I have been taking 1 mg of ativan about 30 minutes before bed almost nightly for around 3 months. I'd say at least 6 out of the 7 days a week but some weeks every day. I am also on 12mg of suboxone a day for about 11 months due to a 7-8 year oxy/heroin habit. I have just never really liked benzos as a high but the doctor gave them to me cause I was having night terrors and waking feeling like I was having a heart attack.
ativan is way weaker than xanax, im prescribed .5 mg. myself of ativan,and they will work,at least they do for me, as everyone is different.you can take up to 2mg a day so as long as you dont go over that youll be alright.but take it before you go somewhere or whatever triggers your attacks and during,obviously.but dont expect it to be like xanax.
I went to my primary care dr to discuss my anxiety, he is aware that i am a recovered opiate addict, and i told him i went to rehab for 30 days. Im almost 6 months clean and the anxiety is through the roof. I am in therapy and trying to process all of the reasons why i used/abused, etc,,,, Well he started me on .5 Ativan twice a day, i called up and told him its not working, he told me to go up to 1. twice a day. DOes this drug need to get in your system for it to start working?
At one time, I was taking a pretty hefty dose of pain pills (oxycontin) along with xanex. One dr. was prescribed by a pain dr. and the other a shrink. I made sure both drs. knew about the medicine the other ones prescribed and never took more than prescribed. Didn't have any problem. Now I'm just taking the xanex, and it is a good idea to be careful, especially if you are started out on a hefty dose of any drug.
Been on it now for 8 years, and have not increased the amount for the last five years. Still working so why mess with it, right? BUT I was in an accident last March, and it tore up my right shoulder. An another doc said it was inoperable but .. we shall see. In the meantime, I was given 15 mg oxycodone to take for pain, every 6 hours. It is like taking nothing!
I got desperate on night, just lost my mind from 2 days straight with horrible pain and no sleep. On a 1-10 scale? 12!
5mg of Ativan, 1 Unisome, 2 Tylenol PMs, and 1 benadryl. I think I am so drugged that I just sleep through with out waking up but I still have the attacks at night that cause sweating. If I do wake up I roll to the other side of the bed and pass out.
It is still warm in my room, and I have two blankets on cause the temperature swings from hot to cold during the night.
